Bought this game the other day, not very far in but is the entire game just crawling around at a snails pace? Instead of being scared I’m just annoyed when I get spotted and killed and have to redo shit. I’m only 4 hours in and I’m already just sprinting through areas if I failed once, because this shit is tedious as fuck.
>>
>>724498654
Who says you have to crawl?
Are you a pissbaby that thinks walking makes too much noise?
Well it doesn't and nothing ever told you it did
>>
>>724498791
So can I just walk past everything or do I have to tediously stand here and watch these androids walk around until I can walk past? I’m not trying to play a game where I sit and hide for 20 hours.

Ok, you are one of those...Drop the game alreayd and go play Dead Space or some shit. This is not for you. You'll thank me later. Or not
>>
>>724499605
I played Dead Space for the first time last year and it was awesome, great atmosphere like this game except the gameplay wasn’t crazy tedious. I just wanted to know if I’m missing something because it seems like it’s impossible to make it through an area without getting seen unless I’m supposed to be constantly making distractions.

It's a stealth horror game. You get a flamethrower later and can use people as distractions but mostly it's how it is now. It's not a game fir everyone so if you bounce off it just find something more palatable. IGN agreed with you if it makes you feel better.
>>
I found it extremely boring and tedious and not scary at all. I cant be scared if getting spotted if basically a game over. I can only be scared if I can actually defend myself with guns. In this game I basically just go "meh" when I get spotted as I am not getting the required dopamine I'd get in games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill and Dead Space.

I wish I could just inject entertainment directly into my brain to consume it instanlty desu. For me it feels like such a nuisance hassle to play games now.
>>
>>724498654
Try Rogue Incursion, OP. Silar feel to Isolation but more action based. Play it in VR.
>>
>>724498654
You need an iq of at least 140 to enjoy this game, sorry OP, better luck next time
>>
>>724498654
yes, same reason why i dropped it too, its tedious walking sim
>>
>>724502639
adhd people can have high iq they just cant make use of it unless its in a field they are hyper focused in like some specific science or engineering field
>>
>>724498654
yeah its boring as shit, hours of hiding in cupboards and waiting for the retarded Alien AI to decide to fuck off for a bit so you can get down another hallway and then repeat

you get a bunch of guns and gadgets eventually and they make the Alien once again fuck off for maybe 20 seconds before you have to go hide again
>>
>>724502639
I actually modded it to remove the alien as a threat and played it as a regular walking sim, peacefully exploring the environments, I liked it, beautifully made and optimized, had a 750 ti at the time
>>
>>724502676
Death Stranding is (partially) a walking sim. This is a stealth horror game.
>>
>>724501259
OP here I’m 32 it’s more like I just don’t appreciate the game wasting my time with…tension I guess? But tension only lasts so long in a videogame before becoming tedious. For instance the part I’m at specifically is an early Working Joe section where I snuck through an area to try and get to comms, then it doesn’t work and an alarm goes off and now I have to sneak back past the Working Joes. I made it pretty far, but slipped up and got spotted and even hiding in a locker didn’t work to get them off my ass so I died and have to do all of it again. Now the second time it isn’t scary at all, it’s just straight annoying.

Yeah, I never really figured out what the "correct" way to play this game was. I made one attempt to use alarms and noisemakers as a distraction in the hospital area. After the alien ran past me into all that noise I started running in the opposite direction. As soon as I started running I got yoinked into an overhead air duct.
After that I just crawled through the entire rest of the game.

>scared
How can anyone that's seen the movies/played the games be scared? You know what it looks like. You know what it does. The terror typically comes from not knowing what's after you in the dark.
These games also do horror completely wrong.
It's supposed to feel like the monster is about to catch and kill you, but instead this game has made the Xenonigger an annoying fuck with wall hack that kills you at every turn.
Replaying sections in a horror game is NOT scary. It's a frustrating chore.

>>
>>724505203
I did swap it to easy I was on hard, but if I was hiding and peeked and a robot happened to spot me in the second I peeked I was fucked which isn’t scary it’s fucking annoying. Like how long is this game if you play it the normal way? I was looking for a 10 hour scary game not a 30 hour tedious sneak game.
>>
>>724506447
The game runs well because the game world is extremely static and the only real effects that cost anything to run are the lights from flares, flamethrower and flashlight. Even the draw distance is tiny so it can be extremely light to run.

It's a brilliant game. The closest you'll ever come to being in an Alien movie. Stick with it. I hate "hard" games like Silksong or what have you but this is one of the best gaming experiences I have EVER had. I've been replaying it since 2014 across different platforms. From PS3 to Steam Deck, I haven't stopped loving it.

I actually think they should have done this and it would be better off. After the reactor nest, spawn the alien and have it persist for the rest of the game and it'd be fine.

Same, anon. You're a cool person. Sadly, i'm worried they're going to screw up the sequel.
>>
>>724498654
Yes, that's pretty much the whole game. Sneak around at snails pace and don't hide in closets because there you don't have access to weapons. Instead just crawl beneath surfaces to hide yourself and treat enclosed hiding spots as a useless game mechanic.

Anal: Blastsolation
>>
>>724498654
To be fair, the beginning of the game is actually the hardest part. It gets easier once you obtain the motion sensor.
>>
>>724498654
This game loses all tension and becomes rather annoying once you figure out the alien always knows the general area where you are
>>
>>724514137
I'm pretty sure you get the motion sensor before you ever actually encounter the alien. You're right about the beginning of the game being the hardest, though. Medical is a nightmare to get through. But then you get the flamethrower and the rest of the game is a cakewalk.

>>724514137
Yep. It's funny seeing the statistics say that most players barely make it past the level the alien is introduced. Too hard and scary kek. But like halfway through, you have flamethrower, distractions, guns, tools, etc. So much stuff that the alien becomes mostly trivial unless the game forces you into a specific situation or takes away your gear for a bit.
>>
>>724507236
Finding out that all of these objects are just gigantic sight barriers for the Alien helps a lot. Also that crouching and walking make zero difference in the amount of sound you make, so you're better off just walking and only using crouch when you need to get behind a table the alien inexplicably cannot see you behind despite being in plain sight.
>>
>>724498654
>>724498973
if you're playing on the hardest difficulty then bump it down or restart the game. it's balance is so fucking shitty you might as well not play it, and it was only added in after the fact.

>Alien: Extermination
The first half is just pretty much Isolation, but with you going through the ship that rescued you and the ship/station on orbit, decide to Kamikaze it on the planet to end it. Then you crash land on the planet, get rescued from the impact room and patched up with implants like Morrow, discover there's a full on research facility colony then go full rip and tear on Xenos, Synths and experiment abominations.
Then in the end you Allahu Akbar the reactor and blow everything up. Post credit scene is in a Weyland Yutani room with suits talking, a printer is seeing printing something, one of the suits takes it, the camera pans into it revealing a picture of old Amanda, he puts it inside a case, the camera pans to reveal it's Burke.
>>
>>724498654
yes, it's just walking around and slowly opening doors for 16 hours
if you pay attention to the cues from the alien you can solve the gameplay "puzzle" pretty quick

The primary thing I wish Alien Isolation 2 would do above all else is use a different protagonist than Amanda. Let her story be done. It fits in the canon as is. Don't ruin it. But you know they will use her, and they will ruin it. They can't help it.
