Ah yes, the Zelda 2 remake where Link quests to defeat Ganon who has cast a horrifying piss filter over the land.

That's the 2nd quest ending. The chicken spell replaces the fairy spell from the original game. The 2nd quest admittedly is unbalanced. You're either overleveled tell later game if it's a new game plus or you're underleveled if you just start the 2nd quest. but 2nd quest has an extra bossfight and a different ending.

FPBP. Pretty much. It's the oldest on going series which holds hype behind each release. Maybe there's no consensus on which one is the best game, but that only speaks volumes about the quality of the series.

Also, people are not prepared for this conversation, but what makes Zelda games be Zelda games is actually the care put in how you interact with the world. Tools are weapons and weapons are tools. All this without making the game be made out of blocks or homogeneous tiles. That's what all Zelda games share in common beyond the amount of dungeons, the slingshot or the setting, which may differ in this or that game.

I can't wait for their next project, but I wish they stay the fuck away from BotW's hyrule because i'm quite tired of it. Also bring the GOAT back into the dev team at least once. Shiggy had the general vibe down, but Koizumi had the soul.

This is why they’re the best Zelda games… they filter the plebes and trannies. Especially since link isn’t the femboy he’s been since 2017 (and prior to that he was a twink from 1998-2017) and they actually give you a challenge. As for which is more challenging? Zelda II, but it’s also the best game ever made.
>>
>>724566350
I mean, TECHNICALLY levels 7, 8, and 9 are hidden, but 7's lake is suspicious, 8 is a single bush in the way of a shortcut so a competent player should test anyway, and the manuel and level 8 hint at where level 9 is. So not optional per say, but a player with a curious mind should still find them

The next 2D remake will probably be the Oracles games. Makes sense with the Oracles director now being the head director for the Zelda IP.
>>
>>724574069
(Part 2)
But FUCK second quest. Actually have intercpurse with the battery used to save the game. Level 7 and 8 are borderline impossible to find, one is in a roundabout bush burning location and the other needs you to bomb the cliff on the other side of the river in a random spot, requiring the ladder and enough bombs to test everything. At least level 9 is tight in the corner so it's easy enough to locate, but it's still obnoxious

>I wish they stay the fuck away from BotW's hyrule
You and me both, anon. I loved BOTW to death when it first came out. Such a cool game that promised on the "return to roots" approach that Aonuma promised for years for its release. But it just seems that that format has become such a cash cow that I'm afraid Aonuma would never reel it back in.

I have two pipe dreams when it comes to Zelda. One is a true sequel to Wind Waker, one that takes the advantages of BOTW's good ideas but also the interesting storyline + exploration of WW. The other one is a return to the realistic world of Twilight Princess with the same thing applied as above. I'm not even that big of a fan of grimdark but I think TP done better with innovative gameplay would be fucking sick to me. I feel like TP had so much potential that was hindered by the near barren landscape that was Hyrule in that game.

These two things would not happen in a million years but it'd probably the only thing that'd make me buy a Switch 2.

I think most people wouldn't be sick of the BoTW-era if Nintendo didn't drop the ball so hard with ToTK and AOC. But because they did, people now fully realize that the damage Nintendo's done to this era is basically irreparable. Hence everyone getting tired of it so quickly and wanting to move on to something new, or returning to better times with the prospects of WW/TP HD rerelease or an OoT remake.

Eh. I honestly don't think there's any intrinsecally powerful idea in TP that warrants revisiting it in any particular way. I liked it on release but it's the one that i've had the least fun with on replays. I get the feeling the team was quite sick of the project by the time they were done with it. It's mostly Oot with better graphics and a bunch of uninteresting gimmicks that went nowhere. TP was at its best when none of its original ideas were on display, which is quite sad.

>>724575267
I think ToTK was fine and full of neat ideas. It's just that revisiting that Hyrule hurt the experience a lot. It's hard to not be disappointed in having basically the same map in a game about exploration. And same setting and characters are not particularly exciting in a series that doesn't have particularly good writing or story. Zelda characters are at their best when they're clad in mystery, and dissecting these after 2 games and a couple spin offs just kills them.

In any case, i'm pretty sure the next Zelda will have a completely different setting and art direction. So i look forward to it.

I only played BOTW. I liked it quite a bit, it was comfy. I quit Tears a few hours in for some reason. Which do I play next?
>>
>>724576526
Reason probably was that you already spent like 100 hours in that world. The new content and mechanics were great, but for a new Zelda game it was just not enough to stand out. If it was advertised as a super-duper-extra DLC and scaled it down a bit, the perception would have been a lot better, and it would have boosted BoTW sales.

Probably the underground could have been a lot smaller. The islands could have also been a lot less numerous. There weren't enough as it was, but there wasn't enough unique content in them anyway.

Best part were the caves. The cave system alone would have sold me the thing.
>>
>>724576950
Yeah I'm definitely gonna try it out again at some point but I spent a lot of time in BOTW already. Again, playing it in bed and exploring was fucking awesome, very good sense of adventure. Probably the best experience stoned gaming experience I had was with it. I don't smoke anymore though.

You guys don't even know what fog looks like. It isn't a gray overlay at 50% opacity. It has volume. Like being in a literal cloud. Objects at close range look normal, and things in the distance get cut off (range depending on density). BotW just has shitty colors. Even in this pic >>724576009 you can see rolling fog in the distance, but that doesn't explain why the entire image is so washed out.

You tell me to go outside? How fucking ironic.

Yeah, I honestly don't get the complaints about BotW being a Ubisoft game clone. It stands out in many ways and has a very unique atmosphere to it. The way everything is reactive to you in fun little ways plus toning down the handholding and the map markers obsession makes it a very different experience.

Plus the sound design was amazing. Don't care what the haters say. It's not just about the melodies, but the gazillion different kinds of footstep sounds, the varying amount of noise you make depending on the gear you have equipped, all the different animals, etc.

I think the sounds and music have not been that memorable ever since Wind Waker until BotW came around.

I've said it since 2017 and will die on this hill.
You know the nighttime horseback riding theme? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2LgPr9xtAo
Remove the cantering rhythm that match the horse's hooves and keep it sparse. But then the cello comes in with the Zelda theme. THAT is what BotW's overworld needed. That glimmer of hope

If you've never played much else in this series, Link's awakening is incredible in a completely different way. The remake on switch is quite cool.
>>
>>724556683
So hold on, what's the context of this?
>>
>>724577912
>It stands out in many ways and has a very unique atmosphere to it.
It's just diet ghibli, complete with the pretentious anime shit like "muh power of love and friendship" that instantly ruins any narrative because it's a boring cliche right next to Final Fantasy games where you get a magic macguffin to instantly beat the final boss.

>The way everything is reactive to you in fun little ways
None of that matters if the game never takes advantage of it. I have no need to ever care for the supposed amazing physics engine, when the game itself is boring. No challenge. You can skip over everything, so nothing matters in the end.

>plus toning down the handholding and the map markers obsession makes it a very different experience.
You're literally not allowed to leave the tutorial area unless the game says so. That's absurd levels of handholding.
