i want a thread about this game because it's awesome and it doesn't seem like it made a huge splash upon release, spurred off of >>724606189 .going for 100 percent including gold medal time trials, currently achieved that up to world 10-2. the only things i wish were different about the game were that for one i want super butt-bounce to be a unique keybind bc more often than not it hurts rather than helps in its current implementation and for another i wish the boss fights eliminated all randomness from their performance when doing a time trial since actually getting a gold medal time in the harder bosses can be a crapshoot.also what the fuck was with 4-1 having an insanely difficult gold time trial compared to every other level in the game?pic related is the costume i repped most of the game, might do a tier list if the thread lives long enough.
>>724607889What the fuck. I have like 1000+ hours in this game as a child on the PS2, I was aware of Pac Man World 1 repac, and I had no clue this came out.
>>724607964marketing has been dire, it sucks. genuinely one of the best video game remakes ever as far as i am concerned. i was so-so on the original but this game made me see why it is beloved.
How's the remake for the first game? Should I play that first?
>>724608109i have repac 1, too. i didn't get too into it back when i got it but i might now that i liked repac 2 so much. every world game is pretty different from one another so it's hard to recommend all 3 to a person. as a remake, repac 1 looks to be on similar quality to repac 2 but without as much extra 'stuff' on top.
>>724608109I only played the originals, no clue about the remakes but 2 is a much better game than 1
I only played this at a friends house and it makes me sad that nobody I know cares about it. Could never beat Forggy either, was disappointed to see its only 4 hours long.
>>724608012Bro what do you mean marketing sucks every day for the past 2 months I got ads for that shit, and it got cross promo with Sonic its not like this game was a secret release for Namco, odds are its that aside from the new post game it is just the same game(but better) so not much to discuss after the post release threads>>724608109You can get the game dirt cheap, I saw it on sale for like around 5 bucks, its a solid PS1 era platformer so yeah you should get it when it goes on sale, either now or later
>>724608479i haven't had any targeted ads myself about the game despite definitely being the kind of person who'd be interested based on my activity. i suppose i saw a streamer play it but i don't think it was sponsored or anything.
>>724607889The original World 2 is among my favorite games, and I had a good enough time with the remake, I'll try coming back to get gold on all the time trials after the Sonic collab level comes outUnironically I'd love to see a World 3 Re-Pac with this level of quality, though I expect it to be a total re-imagining due to how lackluster the original gameplay was
>>724608284I played it anon and honestly anon just going through the main campaign its at least 6, not a long game by any means but its not that short, plus the bump in the base game difficulty can make this game take longer depending on how filtered you get. Plus there is post game levels which I havent beat but thats like an extra hour(not to mention missions extending the game to get 100%)
>>724607889i played like 2 hours of this and dropped it. it's boring and the platforming sucks.
>>724608667if you do come back for the time trials, be prepared for the bosses to drive you insane. the game expects you to hit every opportunity you get, that includes secret opportunities that are not telegraphed. ironically the only super easy boss time trial is the final boss who can be hit at pretty much any moment outside of the final phase.also, like i said in the OP, 4-1's time trial is very strange in how cruel it is. they expect damn near perfect performance down to doing some navigation i'm not even fully sure was intentional.
still have the disc and an old xbox.been playing that from time to time over the years.i was stoke AF to hear about the remake!
>>724607889I was waiting for the Sonic DLC to get it, but I'm tempted to just buy it now. I can't ignore grandpa.>>724608012I saw Pac Man ramen noodles at the store promoting the game.
Should I play Re-Pac 1? I got it for pretty cheap and I remember the PS1 version being decently fun but at the time I was too busy repeatedly 100%ing Crash Bandicoot
>>724607889favorite levels anyone? i really enjoyed the skating levels, both roller and ice. worlds 1 and 2 were all-around easy-going fun.as for least favorite levels, world 5 might be worse than the original game. they weren't gonna win me over on the rail shooter gameplay, i just don't care for that whole genre, but the swimming levels are far more complicated to control now that it's not just corridor level design. though it is cool how fast you can go with the new underwater moves at least.
>>724607889martin sherman back in the booth for this game was how i knew it was gonna be kino
>>724609095Winter mountain levels were always the one I remembered and the music in that part specifically slaps. While this may not count as levels, my least favorite are the new mazes. The mazes in OG were chill as fuck with hardly any consequence so it was a nice break but playing the new ones fucking pisses me off, theyre tucked away from the main game at least
>>724609407i don't mind the new mazes myself. so long as you go from power pellet to power pellet in as much space of time as possible, it is basically impossible to lose any maze with <= 200 pellets. thank god the mazes are tucked away now, though, because it was a huge pacebreaker for me the way they interrupted the original game even if they were fun in a vacuum.
Waiting for a sale, most publishers sell you their shit for half off within a year these days
>>724609095Always gotta be nostalgic for the forest levels, they just have a really cozy vibe despite the deep drops
>>724608012Pac-Man is gonna appear at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade for the first time ever next month just to promote this game
I have it installed but I have yet to open it, might do it tomorrow since it's got such high praise
>>724607889Haven't had time to play it too much, but it's really good so far
