Never, just look at Hollywood. The tiny handful of films that are well liked as animations are remade in live action just because the general audience is too retarded to enjoy anything that isn't photorealistic.

The ability to imagine anything has evaporated, no colour, no design, no ambition. Just monotone or photorealistic locations with fog and hyper detailed textures shat all over it. These games all bleed together because 90% of the final output has been outsourced to the engine. As tech progresses the creative spirit only further reduces.

Top game looks fine. It looks like 40k. Its also not a remake so its unfair to compare it to the other 2.
Middle game looks like shit. Like an AI version of MGS3. Nothing in the game feels like it should and the gameplay doesn't feel the same as it should. Even MGS4 and 5 STILL felt like MGS.
Bottom is such a monumental downgrade from the OG, despite the 20 years between technology, that it's actually offensive to me. Ignores every bit of art direction, colour and design the original game had.

tl;dr:
All the shading and transparency effects have been downgraded into binary on/off, 1-bit alpha cutouts, with a literal 1980s style dithering applied on top in order to fake gradients. The devs then use TAA to smooth out the image across multiple frames, resulting that blurry appearance and tons of ghosting.

Yeah, it's faster than the smooth 8-bit shading, but for fucks sake - we could literally do that stuff already on Nintendo 64!
And the PS2 was famous for effortlessly blending and rendering shittons of textures and alphamaps together... but the average console with 2000x faster hardware cannot?
