Nearly 20 years later and it's still the best lovecraft game to date.
>Call of Cthulhu>look inside>it's Shadow Over InsmouthWhy are they all like this?
>>724636573call of cthulhu is the ttrpg the game is based on
>>724635940My favourite part was getting the laser gun and soothing dagoth minions before lasering Dargoth himself
>>724635940Has anyone managed to get past the collapsing tunnels after killing Hydra on PC? I must have tried about 15 times, but the rocks just fall way too fast.
>>724636573It's the most adaptable story, we need a game about the army fighting cultists and monsters.
I hope someone makes a tasteful remaster / remake. It's a tad janky, but the weapons felt really good i think.
>>724638189Is that some FPS tied shit or do i misremember? Like if you limit FPS you can make it.
>>724635940Not quite
>>724638189I think that shit's bugged you can download a fix for it. The part where you use the gun on the boat was fucked in my version I think I had to patch it or something. Broken game but pretty good when it works.
>>724637615Call of Cthulhu and Shadow Over Innsmouth are both names of short stories written by Lovecraft, that anon was making a joke while displaying his literacy.
>>724638967In my game I spawned outside of the boat in the water and had to clip through the ship's hull to progress.
>>724636573>Call of Cthulhu>you never call him>he never gives you his number
>>724640609He calls you
I like the part on the boat where the targets don't render and your firing the cannon blindly into the horizon.
actually
>>724638307The PC port is very broken a requires several patches.
>>724638207So, a generic fps game with fish monster enemies?
My favourite Lovecraftian game will always be the Sinking City. I think any Lovecraft game should always focus on that mystery, investigative aspect of his stories rather than trying to be outright action games or horror games.
>>724642404Dark Corners is kinda like that, the first have is the detective part and the second half it turns into a horror FPS and the second half get's the most criticism for that but I thought the ship battle was pure kino.
>>724642534It still is kino. Can't think of too many games with such a set piece battles on the sea. At least not something that starts as rather generic adventure FPS.
>>724635940and it's still one of 10 existing lovecraft games*
I feel like there was a brief moment a couple years ago where Lovecraftian stuff was really surging in popularity but then we never really got anything out of it.
>>724635940PUMPKINHEAAADDDDDD!!!!
>>724638189I did. 20 years ago. It's bugged AFAIK. See PC Gaming Wiki, or try the GOG release. Chances are, just limiting the FPS to 30 might fix it.
