If you want to play online without Mints and your Modest Gyarados be my guest but most people want to play with mons that aren't dog shit.

Exactly. When the stats mean less and abilities aren't in, and the game doesn't directly reward mass-catching, it makes no sense to keep elements that allow you to meta build within this game. Forcing you to deal with nature or IVs would encourage players to catch and trade more.

I get why they removed some of the situational ones (too OP in new system, needs new implementation, or is hard to parse at speed), but they should have kept a neutered version for the flavor/type chart adjustment ones, like Levitate.

Could be something added back in the next Legends type game. It wasn’t in Arceus either, but that had its own system with Effort Levels.
