Which of these games best defines the cyberpunk genre?
>>
>>724645396
probably cyberpunk 2077
they're all leftists woke trash though. awful anticapitalist genre
>>
>>724645396
Deus Ex
>>
>>724645476
I would agree that it's Cyberpunk.
The elevator pitch of the genre is basically"high tech, low life" and out of all the games in that list, you interact with low lifes and the criminal underworld the most in Cyberpunk.
>>
cyberpunk is going to be used as reference for future media about it the most
deus ex is visually not in the game and cp77 enclipses it and handles some of its themes in more refined way
deus ex hr was shooting security guards in piss hallways
>>
>>724645396
None, it's not a real genre.
>>
>>724645654
retard
>>
>>724645396
Also I don't think System Shock is very cyberpunk at all, it seems more like general sci-fi

CP77, although I hate its tranny aesthetic. I would have preferred something like this.
>>
>>724645396
Deus ex without a question. Those game have a more believable world.
>>
>>724645396
Dragonfall
>>
>>724645396
so sick of the cyberpunk 2077 glazing. such a shit 2/10 game.
>>
does cp77 even has cyberspace?
>>
>Anacronox
Literal who...
>>
CP77 covers all the topics and is beautiful, but it's such a boring and clunky game.
>>
>>724645396
Deus Ex, for actually being about corporations and banks controlling the world, and being about mass digital surveillance. And no, Cybershart's puddle deep "corporation bad!" writing is not the same.
>>
>>724645396
might be a weird take but I think things like Streets of Rage captured it better. But I also associate cyberpunk with a degree of a body horror, like in Akira, which manifests the theme of the fear of technology infesting every facet of life.
>>
>>724645396
none of them are cyberpunk
>>
>>724646251
cp takes its writing way more seriously than most games
dx is more like a saturday morning cartoon
>>
deus ex
trannypunk world looks too sunny
>>
Cyberpunk 2077 because you play as a low life and by the end you don't achieve much in the great scheme of things.
Deus Ex is a great game but it's a little too high-tech, optimistic and glamourous to be the reference for the Cyberpunk genre.
Human Revolution is close, Hugh making people go berserk was a nice touch, but it's also too optimistic.
>>
>>724646492
You need my cyberballs in your face so bad dude!
>>
Shadowrun
>>
It's incredible how little this board understands cyberpunk as a genre. No wonder why you all pick Deus Ex.

Cyberpunk 2077 objectively.

There's literally zero "punk" element in any of the Deus Ex games.

They're the equivalent of calling Minority Report (Tom Cruise movie for the zoomers) Cyberpunk. They're Sci Fi. System Shock is pure Sci Fi in the truest sense (is Event Horizon cyberpunk by this logic?) but with horror elements.

Can't comment on the AnachRonoh or whatever it's called in the center top
>>
>>724646748
Zoom zooms be like machine limb = cyberpunk.
>>
>>724646748
Gibson shat on cyberwitcher though. So the only option left is System Shock. I'm okay with it, somewhat close to Neuromancer in themes and plot.
>>
>>724646859
Gibson woulda shat on Deus Ex too if the entire franchise had more than 10 sales to pop it up on his twitter timeline
>>
A future closer to DE:HR is most likely. CP77 is fine but too whacky and cartoonish
>>
>>724645396
annnnnd colony ship wasnt mentioned
>>
>>724646748
While Deus Ex IS a great game, kids learned that praising it makes them sound cooler and more knowledgeable, so they will praise it regardless of the context like a braindead.
>>
>>724646085
Yes, and it is featured far more prominently than in Deus Ex. I'm pretty sure only Mankind Divided has a concept that's similar to "cyberspace", unless IW has it, which I never played.
>>
>>724646507
You sound like the kind of retard that also enjoyed the Trigger anime.
>>
>>724645396
Deus Ex no contest, music was phenomenal characters are incredible and it's the pure unaldulterated definition of science fiction without faggotry and trans shit. Cyberpunk was trying too hard and ultimately failed to capture the feel of a dystopian world
>>
>>724645476
>portrays corporations bad
>like they are irl
>le anticapitalism don't tread on me
eat some asbestos fag
>>
>>724647517
Another 70 iq retard who doesn't understand the cyberpunk genre. Grim.
>>
>>724646507
What the fuck are you talking about, Human Revolution was phenomenal for the sotry alone on the way neuropozyne was pushed big pharma and corporations to control the people specially the ones dependant on it, there's not even a hint of that in ChildPorn2077

i didn't know much about the ttg and i used to think all the magical stuff was because some isekai shit but no the lore is just that gay and stupid
>>
>>724647727
I just wanted a complete 2nd game.
>>
>>724647629
>Another 70 iq retard who doesn't understand the cyberpunk genre. Grim.
understand it better than you, in fact you probably haven't even read Neuromancer let alone any isaac asimov. The contextual elements and world building from deus ex incredible even human revolution and mankind divided took it into a new realm which was incredible well thought out.
>>
>>724647647
HR was overall goofy
My opinion is a bit influenced by Ross scott video on it but theres a lot of the writers should've perhaps iterated on some of these concepts
like redoing how the npc's talk as if the player and his plot is the centre of the world, cops complaining how you shot terrorists who tried to murder cops and civilians, people on the street hyperfocused on adam and augmentatitons

This is the second time I've seen System Shock remaster being included in the OP of a thread like this. Last time it was a 3x3 of immersive sim games.
How many jeets did Atari hire to shill Scamdive's overpriced demakes?
>>
>>724646507
neuromancer invented the genre and it was campy as fuck. dx embodies the genre because it actually makes serious points about mass centralization and technology's role in society whereas cp tries hard to appear deep but has nothing to say beyond "corporations bad"
>>
>>724648203
the game simply didnt refine any of his concepts
they made the outline for it, then implemented it and didnt go "huh this could be better"
You do a mission and hundreds of npcs are telepathically informed about what you did and have a binary comment about it.
>>
>>724647832
Isn't it something like the Dragons returned from outer dimension and brought magic with them? I got the idea that it was not purely random but triggered by dragons since they are borderline gods.

>>
>>724648585
But can I fuck her?
>>
>>724648338
every game does this its called story telling and npcs dont directly address you unless they are part of the story, this take is pathetic, so what do you want them to talk about then? the reason they do this is to world build and it works and it also makes you feel apart of the world, you're literaly crying about npcs that nobody even talks to, everyone you have to interact with is part of the fucking games story jesus christ youre autistic
>>
>>724648505
it was some injun magic and injuns retook the land and sent all whites to reservations
>>
>>724649047
You ARE her
>>
>>724649224
Sounds gay.
>>
>>724648338
>telepathically informed
Throughout the game there are news articles and Eliza reporting on incidents, there's even a holo news report on billboards....
>Telepathically

clearly you haven't played the game, there's glasspads and news articles everywhere about whats happening of course people are going to know what happens it's called news, have you not seen our own world at the moment? The whole Emiru incident? Hasan Piker? Twitch? News actually spreads on social media you know, you have suspend disbelief a little bit and imagine that this is what's happening or do you need everything literally spelled out to you?
>>
>>724649308
just watch the video if you're so confused about it

>>
>>724645839
That's shadowrun, which you already have.
>>
>>724645396
None of them because a genre cannot be portrayed in one of the mediums its critiquing. Its like reading a book about how books make your head bigger and will eventually turn us all into big head nerds dependent on the Big Pillow industry to not have neck pain.
>>
>>724649404
this guys voice is annoying and clearly doesnt understand the game
>>
>>724645476
put a bullet through your skull dumbfuck.
enjoy paying a subscription to use the dishwasher you already bought in 5 years time
>>
Man just compare the box art. Deus Ex is so much more grand. Evokes so much of its distopian setting and grand conspiracies. JC looking up into the light clearly symbolizes him uncovering the vast conspiracies that support the setting.

Cyberpunks is generic cover with some neon colors. Its entirely shallow. Its a generic GTA clone with a cyberpunk coat of paint. Except even GTAs box arts are iconic and evocative.

You'd have to be a true bugman consooming retard to hold it in any sort of regard, especially artistic. Theres no substance to it, its all flashy cybershit lifted from better franchises.
>>
>retard who can't even spell calling anyone a bugman
Oooh boy.
>>
>>724645476
so you pick the most woke one. gotcha
>>
Did nobody play Anachronox?
>>

>>724645476
>anti corporatist ≠ anti capitalist
Being unable to afford things in the future must be nice huh?
>>
>>724645476
Johnny straight up tells you he isn't fighting capitalism but rather the push for oligarchic corporatism that's basically enslaving people.
>>
>>724645396
Unironically Cyberpunk, the setting was OG in its time. Deus Ex is the second closest but it feels more like the current world just worse and rotten in every way, which I suppose is cyberpunk but it missed the aesthetic a bit imo.
>>
You can easily identify muricans by how they see large corporations and capitalism as one and the same.

cannt stop laughing, wors than deus ex
>>
>>724645654
yes it is. you're jealous because you didn't create a genre
>>
>>724646492
they're post-cyberpunk, aren't they? do you confirm?
>>
>>724646748
I'd like to understand cyberpunk more, unironically. tell us what is cyberpunk
