How did older games get atmospheric density right yet new games look like smudgy shit? This is a 15 year old game mind you.
>>724645480>This is a 15 year old game mind you.And it shows.
No raytracing and 4k textures shitting up the performance
>>724645580Graphic whore
>>724645580>implying
>>724645480>This is a 15 year old gameThe textures look about 20-25 years old desu.

I hate controlling horses in videogames, yet I love fantasy and western and whatnot. It's just the fucking horses that are clunky as fuck. I couldn't finish RDR 12 years ago because of that and still couldn't when I replayed the remaster a few months ago. My loss, I guess.

>>724646249It's not like I would be running up and down, left and right, on and on again, plus horses are cool. It's just the constant clunky hassle it becomes in videogames. I have to say though, I loved The Witcher 3 despite that and there were moments where I just took Roach on trips purely for the sights.
>>724645754>implyingYou implying me? You implying me?!!!
>>724645480The fog in RDR1 is like 500 feet from the camera. It looks fake as fuck.
>>724647556Just like modern games, but somehow they require faster hardware and run worse.
>>724647839Maybe if you posted RDR2 you'd have a point but RDR1 looks its age.
>>724645480It just came out last year...
>>724647556Contrary to modern games where the fog is 100 feet away from the camera
>>724645480Rockstar is the king of open world simulation so it's a bit unfair to use their games as a example they're literally unmatched. But older games like the ultima games would also be a good example.Modern devs are just garbage and have zero sovl or passion.
>>724645580Yeah, the shadows look too clean and there is no temporal aliasing.
Red Dead is a gorgeous game but a mechanically boring one.Anyways, the answer to your question is lighting. Lighting is now a lost art.
