>>
Remember that DLC survey Capcom sent out for DD2? Yeah.....
>>
>>724660870
I liked it but cant help but feel it shouldve been better. I haven o desire to replay it, but I would absoloutely be the first to buy a DLC or play DD3 if they actually made it.

Thats the problem though, they wont make it. Its over.
>>
>>724660870
Its been 2 years, Capcom never releases DLC that long after release, next year is MHWilds DLC, Onimusha and Resident Evil, theres no opportunity to work on let alone release an expansion to a game noone is playing. The window of relevance has long since passed, unfortunately.
>>
No one has hired my pawn once in the year I've been gone.......
>>
>>724662026

>>724662026
That Capcom tower defense game got DLC and it underperformed hardcore according to reports.
>>
So some someone at capcom definitely has something against dragons dogma, right?
>>
>>724662163
I imagine thats because its cheaper to make for and they dont have to commit a lot of resources to it. Again, 2 years later, its not happening.

>>724662227
They never wanted to make it, and the only person who did left.

This might be naive of me, but couldn't it be possible to write a letter statement to Capcom, either through email or physical mail and ask about dlc or future plans for DD?
>>

>>
>>724662026
I actually was still coping. But now that I looked it up, Dark Arisen also came out within like a year of the original. It's so over.

I liked the game but it needed more endgame stuff to take it from good to great. Some reason to do NG+. Some area like BBI to grind in.

Still had fun for 100 hours but a simple DLC would easily get another 100 and make it complete.
>>
>>724662497
Haha surely Wilds just took a lot of manpower for Capcom, right. A C team is making DLC or-release right now, surely!!

Any mods that make the postgame not dogshit, at least?

Monster Hunter, Street Fighter and Resident Evil. Everything else just fills a quarterly till they have resources to make more content for these games.

Honestly the game was better than people made it to be, specially when you can slap a handful of essential mods on it like being able to switch skills mid battle

I feel like they kept the height within a certain range so they didn't have to work on adjusting all the different animations so they didn't look weird on short characters.

Itsuno is indeed a fucking saint for staying at Capcom for so long. Still, i'm glad he stayed there for DMCV. I'm not big on futuristic thing, but i hope his new game is good. Whatever it is. But if he's just making whatever for a paycheck, i won't blame him either since he made my favorite games.

That might reflect in the next MH, we'll have to wait and see. Capcom also dumped money on other titles like Pragmata and the new Onimusha. DD2 probably had a bigger budget than those 2, but the money faucet was clearly on the golden goose. Still, i hope they realize that it might be a good idea to focus on their other IPs. Maybe we might get a new Lost Planet...

The game was good with a few things that it does better than anything else, including DD. The problem is that overall it's a big step back from DD and absolutely nowhere close to what people expected and wanted from DD2.
>>

DD2 was rushed out the door and not quite as good as it could've been, but it was still very good overall. I would still like them to make a third game because it's a good IP and I think it would be a waste to abandon it. The core of the game is solid, it just needs to be fleshed out more in certain areas and there were a few annoying design choices.

>and that stuff like the sphinx was hidden all around the world
And it was, not only the Sphinx had two different locations, but there are areas in the game that you won't find unless you explore. You know, play the game, like in DD1? there is no "medusa quest", the medusa is an optional enemy behind a side path on a side path whose head has multiple uses. you are never required to slay a medusa for anything.
>Looking at the rest of your list, they're all just regular quests you get in town
the use for the vault key is not tied to any quest nor is the eyemask is not tied to any quest.

>No, I mean special interactions you find by going out and exploring the world since Itsuno literally talked about tucking them in all corners of the world.
like the entire catapult mechanic that uncovers additional paths around the ancient battleground area? or unique equipment that requires specific skillsets in specific areas (not just pilfering npcs, there's a cape in drabnir's grotto that requires a harpy beacon to reach)?

Why are you leaving out the part about them not just being quests given in town and being things you find out in the world? Stop avoiding that and give examples of that, because that's what Itsuno specifically said, or shut the fuck up.

>ke the entire catapult mechanic that uncovers additional paths around the ancient battleground area?
This would be a better point in your favor if the biggest thing it unlocked wasn't just a tiny cave with nothing special.
>or unique equipment that requires specific skillsets in specific areas (not just pilfering npcs, there's a cape in drabnir's grotto that requires a harpy beacon to reach)?
These aren't big quests or interactions, they're little touches that DD1 already had. Stop defending Itsuno when he blatantly lied.

I mean, if we're being fair here, there was ne ver intention for a DLC based on the capcom leaks. We have up through SF7 planned out, but there was NEVER going to be dd2 dlc.
>>
>>724677790
Dragon princess?
>>
>>724677262
Pretty much yeah. It's got maybe one real dungeon (two if you mental gymnastics that one large sand bandit hideout as another) that's a large goblin nest of tunnels, and two smaller ones with the dragon tower and ancient battleground, both of which are basically two floor structures with interior "exploration" that amounts to walking down a single long hallway. The rest of the "dungeons" are even smaller cave systems scattered around.
Surface exploration in the game is great, but actually finding anything in the world to delve into and get lost in like BBI is completely none existent.
>>
>>724677969
What of it?
>>
>>724662026
>>724662098
It's been a year and a half
There was probably planned to be a DLC but then Itsuno said he's quitting and that's the end of Dragons Dogma forever. It's rare for Capcom producers to pick up former producers projects
>>
>>724677790
The intention was teased with the survey they put out literally asking if people wanted DLC, what they'd want in it, how much they would pay for it, etc. But at that point I don't think they knew just how shit reception and player retention to Wilds was going to be, so any measly support they might have considered for DD2's post release they snuffed out
>>
>>724677527
Why don't you post what Itsuno specifically said instead of constantly shifting goalposts to mean a different kind of side content interaction?

>Why are you leaving out the part about them not just being quests given in town
The Medusa is a unique monster not tied to any quests! You are never told to seek it out and fight it! The Cenotaph quest that rewards the vault key also isn't given in town, it's given when you save the questgiver near the ancient battleground! The quest for Meteoron is also not given in town because it's set in a bumfuck area that's out of the way.

They're specifically talking about it being a special monster tucked away in a corner of the world, and they say there are other things like it. And because I already know you're the kind of a stupid fucking niggerfaggot to damage control in any way he can, yes, that's exactly what he said in Japanese. The specific word was すみっこ. They talked about special monster encounters hidden in corners of the world off the beaten path. Those were not in the game. Stop defending a blatant lie because you're an assmad retard, and don't move the fucking goalposts and pretend that what you've been arguing up until this point doesn't actually matter.

I only have two issues with DD2. The first is that it absolutely should have had more vocations (at least the missing hybrids) and the second is it should have had an Everfall style dungeon at post-game.

Otherwise, I enjoyed it just as much as the first game and adventuring around was just as memorable.

>>They talk about the sphinx being not tied to the main story and being its own thing
>>They talked about special monster encounters hidden in corners of the world off the beaten path
OK, let's see what they said.
>Meanwhile, even though the Sphinx is one of the game's feature attractions...
>It has nothing to do with the progression of the main game.
>It really doesn't. Well, maybe not nothing at all
The Sphinx specifically has no connection to the main story, and even then they back off from it by saying "Well, maybe not nothing (no connection to the main story) at all".

>How do I even put it? It's such a special part of the game but exists way off in its own corner
>There are a lot of other large monsters like that, too
So after retracting the "absolutely no connection to the main story" claim, they say this.

The Medusa, being a boss you never have to kill, found in a corner of the map, with a unique head item that replaces the lantern and has a myriad of uses, completely fits this description. It is a special part of the game, a large monster, in its own corner.
"Exists way off in its own corner" would also describe monsters like the Talos - a unique enemy fought in a setpiece -, and the Purgeners, two unique enemy types only fought in the Unmoored World (which hadn't been hinted at by this point at all).

Your interpretation was "there are multiple monsters -with nothing to do with the story- in the game", when what was said was "the sphinx has almost nothing to do with the story, and there are monsters that exist in their own corner of the game". You got high off your own hopium.
>>
>>724680604
They claim there are other special monsters not tied to the main story (the sphinx is not, we know because we've played it) tucked into corners of the world. The medusa is a tutorial boss, so that rules it out. Try again.

>So after retracting the "absolutely no connection to the main story" claim, they say this.
No, they didn't retract it. They were being coy. You don't know moon, I do.

>The Medusa, being a boss you never have to kill, found in a corner of the map, with a unique head item that replaces the lantern and has a myriad of uses, completely fits this description.
Nope. It's directly tied to the main plot. You literally can't leave the tutorial without fighting it.

>"Exists way off in its own corner" would also describe monsters like the Talos
Another story monster that you can't miss.

>Your interpretation
We're not having this argument. You don't understand the actual words they used. I do. You're a retard who's trying to distort their words to mean things they don't actually mean to pretend you have a point. At some point you need to take a step back and realize just how fucking stupid you are with your obsession over arguing. You're wrong, plain and simple. Your desire to change their words into things they didn't say won't change that.

Fighter with the Dulahan Mod is easily the most fun vocation.
Truly the main character vocation.

Also the Shield Drop skill is so fucking cool. You can climb on a monster and if it moves around too much and you fall off, you can go into that shield drop and land back on the monster 9/10 times. So fucking cool.

you're calling people slurs over a video game, take your own advice.

>They claim there are other special monsters not tied to the main story
they said the sphinx is not tied to the progression of the main game, they say it's a special part of the game that exists in its own corner, they say other monsters exist in their own corner.
the medusa being a tutorial monster does not preclude it from having its own corner in the game, especially when killing it and everything to do with its head is not tied to progression.

>Another story monster that you can't miss.
you can miss the dullahan, which is tied to a sidequest.
you can miss the dragon fight if you godsbane during the flight.
you can miss the purgeners if you fight the dragon and then start a new game or think it's the actual ending.
then there's the sphinx. how special is special? how missable is missable? these are all bespoke monsters that are not mandatory - that you CAN miss - to complete the game.
>>

You'd be surprised. A lot of new potential players got absolutely soured at Capcom basically selling fast travel as DLC. It was bound to look horrible, and unfortunately so many people took that at face value and automatically assumed the game was terrible. Hell, when I actually talk to normies about it, often times they'll mention that whole DLC fiasco.

Basically, even youtube "game reviewers" are often just as retarded as game journalists, except they face less criticism purely because journalists are so despised.

>you're calling people slurs

>the medusa being a tutorial monster does not preclude it from having its own corner in the game
It does preclude it from being not tied to the main story, and you're demented if you think one more unique monster (that you can't beat the game without seeing) means they went all out with those things, which is what they said.

>you can miss the dullahan, which is tied to a sidequest.
>you can miss the dragon fight if you godsbane during the flight.
At this point you might as well say that you can miss pretty much any monster in the game. What a stupid fucking thing to say to try to make a point.

>then there's the sphinx. how special is special? how missable is missable?
It's a unique encounter with a gimmick that doesn't appear in the main story or as a part of any quests given in town and can only be found by exploring remote regions of the world. That's special.

>Dullahan, two purgener varieties, the dragon, the sphinx

>At this point you might as well say that you can miss pretty much any monster in the game. What a stupid fucking thing to say to try to make a point.
You're the one who brought up "missability" as a key factor. You told me what they claimed (and I go by your words because apparently the subtitles aren't reliable!), I brought up examples that fit what they claimed.

Itsuno's tastes and ideas are clearly very different from most players, so it's a jump to assume he's lying and not simply expressing his own thoughts. This is the same guy who implemented V in DMCV and Trickster in DD2, which are divisive at best. And yes, this is interpretation, because you interpreted his words in a very specific way.

Why? It's fucking trash.
I can only assume that Itsuno was REALLY pissed how good Dragon Dogma Online performed and how everyone praised online coop and new, cool and unique vocations.
So he made DD2 a fucking shit on purpose with no coop and with shitty butchered vocations.
I'm glad he left Capcom.

That cunt should've work harder then. If you cannot implement some complex shit in given timeframe - drop it or simplify it or come up with alternatives. DD is his child and he is completely responsible for that.

>do we have an answer on why it was closed?
Capcom Online Games, who made DDO, shut down. They also made Monster Hunter Frontier.
https://c.cid.capcom.com/cog/
Their site says they died 2021.
They were also behind Deep Down, which is why you're never seeing it ever again.
>>
>>724699070
You can't rush greatness, nigger! The foundations for the best game ever are in DD2, but there's nothing on top of those foundations!
>>
I've always liked the idea of Dragon's Dogma, but hated the execution. Every vocation besides maybe Fighter all just spam 1 ability.
Strider is spamming brainsplitter, magick archer is spamming ninefold, mystic knight is spending 2 minutes prebuffing and then spamming fullmoon slash into their orb thing, ranger is spamming explosive arrows, assassin is spamming their bullshit auto parry, sorcerer is spamming tornado and ice spikes, etc. I want a Dragon's Dogma like game that still has the same pace of combat, but has more creative avenues for the combat like DMC. I know that's what they were going for, but the abilities I mentioned are so strong that it's 99% of the time your best option. Sure strider can be climbing and using scarlet kisses or shooting down dragons with a rusted bow, but most of the time you are going to be brainsplitting and staggering the giant creature until it's dead in the dirt.

It would be like if you were playing Monhun and every single attack you did was TCS or Helmsplitter or the Insect Glaive tornado thing they got in Wilds or whatever. But in Monhun you tend to use a wide variety of moves and weave in those strong moves when you get the chance to do so, you don't just run right up to the monster and immediately gigadick stagger them with your most powerful move.

I also feel like the game was literally meant for co-op and it's kind of stupid that they never wanted to have real co-op. Hell I'd even take couch co-op only if that's what it takes. Sure pawns are cool, but friends will always beat pawns and you could still do duo only co-op and you both get to make and train a pawn for your full 4 party squad. Just seems so "unrealized". So much of DD1 and the sequel feel like wholly unrealized ideas that could be polished into beautiful gems. DD2 combat sort of got better than DD1 in terms of the spammyness, but it's still not amazing. The story, the questing system, and the world could all be better in both games. Needs competent devs desu

The last game I'll ever look forward to. It was the final spark that burned out any positive emotion I can have for a new release, however small. How a game can be so empty and yet so filled with simultaneous pointless, endless, annoying fights is a feat.

>long ass boring escort quests that are somehow worse than MMO escort quests
>need arcane knowledge before going into the game or else you will just fail a quest randomly that ended up being the intro to a long ass quest chain that gives you one of the best pieces of gear in the game, oops can't do it now
>limited fast travel (either have better fast travel or don't have it at all)
>warrior gimped in both games for literally no reason when the secondary attacks could have been hilt based attacks (bashes, parries/ripostes, etc)
>stupid weight management system that is a plague in every single game that has it
