Since it's Halloween, what was the spookiest thing you found in undertale yellow?
>>724668552I found a little easter egg in snowdin that's only in the geno route. If you interact with the log (on the left) more than 4 times, the message changes to "I saw everything."Didn't have a screenshot of this encounter but here's one with the log next to clover.
>>724668552What's stopped /v/ anons from visiting Yellow threads?Because I swear it's been the same ones from /vrpg/ for a while now.
>>724668552Is DRY now worth playing?
>>724672454/vrpg/ mods
>>724672562yes though a patch will be made to fix some issues (just don't use the "challenge" act of the red pencil enemy and you should be fine)
>>724672454most of the "actual" UT/DR fans don't care about yellow since it is "non canon", so they don't botherpretty much the only people that care about yellow here are the /vrpg/ anons
>>724674764I don't have an issue with yellow not being canon. Yellow just feels too different for me and at this point its fandom treats it like a collaborative fanfiction, and its elements don't have the appealing things the canon games do
>>724672562Massive changes to chapter 1
>>724675494So you're saying it needed more funny skeletons named after fonts and meta bullshittery for people to give a fuck?
>>724676141I like Yellow's OCs, I just find the story grossly underwhelming and lacking a central theme
>>724676548that's what happens when you make the story as teenagers working only on the fresh view of the fandom (biggest reason flowey is there before people "pieced together" the timeline)
>>724676548it definitely has "justice" as a central theme, it just strays from communicating that at points or communicates it in strange ways because of >>724677258it also completely drops the ball on exploring justice for all vs justice for one and its still genuinely mysterious that they chose to have martlet go along with things at the end. just enough is there that you can see what they were going for in places
>>724670048you might be the first human to notice that detail
>>724668552Meltlet on the first playthrough
>>724677479they also tried playing off "sin vs forgiveness" but it only plays out in the pacifist route, and you can see it play out pretty clearly with starlo then ceroba. since clover is very scorched earth in genocide, genocide instead is retribution, and how far someone is willing to go. its not saying the most profound things, it just has multiple instances like martlet showing up a few times, clover shooting starlo even if you let it be shown that he wasn't actually trying to harm you, destroying someone who was forced into doing something, forcing yourself to kill someone you dont want to for "the mission". it toys around with and flips around ideas of justice through the different routes but its kind of shaky in how it actually brings that to life across the routes.
I've seen more art of clover dressed as dalv than actual images involving dav
>>724678930glad to see koffin-k is doing alright for himself, haven't heard from his dev team in a while
>>724672562Yeah, its got a proper release now, instead of just an unfinished alpha build. Its still only chapter 1 though. Its got at least twice as much content in chapter 1 as it did before though.
>>724679214Well chapter 1 and most of chapter 2
>>724679342The chapter 2 portion is the same unfinished alpha it was before
boo
>>724678207I really, really wish the devs made the player shoot Starlo instead of it being automatic even if you don't input anything. I think the thematic trend of>sparing Dalv after he gives up doesn't end geno>Clover refuses to finish off Martlet in geno of his own accordStarlo gave up just like those two, so logically you should have the option to spare him, though I think at that point it should lock you out of the geno route, maybe have a unique easter egg kind of ending if you fulfill all the geno requirements except for killing any of the four main bosses.I've seen the argument that it's supposed to show Clover's worldview warping and him losing his sense of justice but I don't think it's conveyed clearly enough for me to believe it. At a minimum I would force the player to pull the trigger on a surrendering enemy and prime that behavior first.
>>724677479>it definitely has "justice" as a central theme, it just strays from communicating that at points or communicates it in strange ways because ofWill the other fangames fuck up their theme as much as UTY did? or will they learn from its mistakes?
>>724681379at least cooking with kindness is doing everything cooking related
>>724681379I mean, it nailed the theme in enough places that people can piece together the ideas, and the game was coherent enough to have lasting power all things said. if anything it would be a blessing if the other fangames keep it together at least as well as yellow did. this is of course with the understanding that yellow fell short, but it fell short with sincerity in its failures as opposed to something like delta traveler I guess?

I said I was gonna deliver "something playable" by Halloween. Well here it is. I present to you, the world's worst walking sim: https://files.catbox.moe/d4okaz.zipAll you can do is walk around in a single room. No interactions, just janky and barely functional collisions. I made up some tiles a few minutes ago, and was gonna use them to make a prettier room, but it'd probably be past midnight by then, and it wouldn't be enough to justify missing the deadline. If you think its a virus, feel free to audit the source code yourself, its included with the rest of the files. In fact, if anyone is feeling generous and would like to suggest some improvements that could be made the collision or graphics code, I would gladly take them. My programmer disappeared a week ago, so I'm basically on my own now, which sucks extra hard considering I have no idea what I'm doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Pic related are the tiles I made, but didn't have time to include.
>>724683357in this day and age I wont fault anyone from where new art is found. we have our wonderful resident artfags, but the collection must grow
>>724683618time to fork oldentale
>>724683618can't you have a struct for each tile where you can set up AABB bounding box data for the collisions, alongside any other properties the tiles have, like texture, sound, etc? you could probably make a tool to automate those so you don't have to type the collision values manually
>>724677479
>>724684184an alternative is having a second tilemap of basic shapes which you draw under the main tilemap and the game checks for the texture's pixel colors of that tilemap to tell what is walkable and what isn'tusing different colors for different things like sliding is also possible that way

I don't know if they're 1 to 1 though.Anyways, I already have a the tiles defined a type called ttype, which stores their state and graphic. My issue was that I was unable to figure out how to get the x,y location of the tile based on its location in the tilemap array. Maybe I'm just stupid here, but do I have to keep separate tilemap(y,x).tilex and tilemap(y,x).tiley variables in addition to their location in the array also holding their x and y values?>you could probably make a tool to automate thoseThat's another issue I have. I'm having serious trouble figuring out how to automate tedious repetitive tasks. Like I'm still manually loading every sprite and tile into memory because I can't figure out a way to automate it.

DRYanon2 hereno update, i have been distracted by a personal app thats teaching me how to do XML and HTML.so far, i've mostly learned hate.but now, i need a break from that crap, so let me give you all a three part green for my take on the flower girls.its been in my head for a few weeks so i want to get it out. also i just realized that rosa relentlessly shipping cole and kanako also works as a joke about her being a rose themed plant monster.
>>724691850>pedla stood at the front counter of the flower shop>it was her turn to help her parents up front for the day.>customers had come and gone, few wanted small talk fortunately.>she had just finished pruning most of the plants and preparing gift flowers>all she could really do now was wait>someone came into the store>P: "hi. welcome to the boutique. should you have questions about a specific flower please ask">the snake monster browsed the potted plants for a little bit>pedla kept a blank expression the whole time, like a monotonous robot simply waiting for a request>eventually, the snake found one she liked and took it to the front desk>?: "i wassss wondering what the growing conditionsssss for thisssss one are">pedla's eyes lit up>she told the snake monster everything about the plant's optimal growth conditions, using many words far beyond the average monster's understanding>six minutes later, the snake monster stared at her in confusion>P :"ah, sorry. that is a hardy plant that will flower all summer. it requires minimal maintenance, only needs to be watered once a week, and it'll regrow in the sprong so you wont need to buy a new one" >S "thhhank you!">the snake monster paid for the plant and left>R: "i dont know why you still bother doing that.">P: "everyone gets a chance to learn if they ask, thats our policy.">R: "and they never will, you should just do it like me and skip to the part where you tell them the basics.">P: "you know mother hates that.">R: "yes, yes. poor ma' and pedla. stuck giving speeches that fall on deaf ears.">pedla frowned, at least violetta tried to teach people. even if she trailed off rather quickly>R: "anyways...">*snip*>pedla didnt even need to look, rosa cut a fresh rose.>P: "if you're going out could you check on violetta? she should only be at the cafe">R: "of course, i was already going to check on her.">P: "oh yeah and while you're there could you get me a-">rosa left>P: "coffee..."1/3

Royal guard roleplay sex with Martlet. But she stutters, forgets what shes supposed to be doing, cant fake a tough persona at all and frequently breaks immersion to ask if you're alright, or just gets completely distracted by a new topic to blabber about mid-fuck or is just chirping the entire time. She usually ends up on bottom anyway because she couldnt dom to save her life.
I promised I would get a SURVEY_2 demo out by Halloween, anywhere in the world. I was going to joke about how it's not yet midnight in some parts of Polynesia, but I missed the deadline by about half an hour.Anyway, here it is. It's in two parts: an engine demo and a "concept demo". The former showcases what I've gotten done so far in my custom engine (which is just the overworld and a single map). The concept demo was supposed to be the game's prologue, but in Kristal rather than my own engine. Unfortunately I only managed to map out Kris's house before running out of time.I'd like to actually finish the prologue within the next month, and I'll post builds maybe once or twice a week. Once that's done, I'm considering doing the whole first chapter in Kristal so you won't have to wait forever for something actually playable. I'd like to hear your feedback on the matter.Especially Oldentale anon, since you're probably the only other person who cares about the engine change. (Also please let me know if it even works on your system, I haven't tested on my retro rig yet)https://files.catbox.moe/38m72s.zip

On the surface people would still probably dress up as monsters, but what about the underground? Would they dress up as humans? And would the either practice continue after monsters returned to the surface, or would it become a taboo like blackface? And what about the Deltarune universe? Would they dress up at all there?
>>724700264It should. It's using nothing but the basic win23 api, and an incredibly basic(heh) version of it at that. Funnily enough, it actually works better on Wine than it does on newer Windows versions, since it doesn't have the color palette issue that's present on Windows Vista and 7.
>>724703140>frequently breaks immersionSeems immersive to me, that's the exact same behavior she does while on the clock.
>>724703536>KristalIf you have your own engine, why bother with Kristal?>Especially Oldentale anonThe in house engine works, and works pretty well. Kristal doesn't even start. Says its not a valid win32 application, which either means its calling instruction sets I don't have or its calling API functions I don't have.Your engine works great and if you wanted my opinion, I'd say stick with that, unless you can find a way to compile Kristal for legacy machines. On to the engine itself. The collisions are accurate, though they kneel before slope-sama. If I move diagonally into a slope I can walk right through it. I also noticed you haven't implemented sprite layering, since when I make Kris walk behind something, he still appears in front of it. If you figure out how to fix that, then please tell me, since I have the same issue. RAM usage is at a nice 8MB, and CPU usage hovers between 7 and 8. Even when made to kneel by slope-sama, it only goes to 11 CPU usage. Your engine is definetly coded better than mine, which currently sends CPU usage to 50% at idle, even if it really doesn't need to.

>>724703758Did you change Jockington's speech pattern on purpose, or are those just typos? As a side note, I feel like adding extra dialogue onto existing lines kinda messes with the flow of the scene. >>724682185It missed the mark completely. The core conflict of our cast has nothing to do with justice. Clover is the only character that has something to do with it but you really have to squint your eyes and overanalyze.
>>724712093>many are asking for devs/volunteers to work and those will likely die soonI don't understand how these projects are always asking for more people to work with and don't seem to make any progress, shouldn't one coder, one spriter and one musician be all you need for a project this size?
>>724684979Pacifist Clover hugging Genocide Zenith Martlet to make her feel better and calm her down.Pacifist Martlet hugging Vengeance to calm him down, and stop his violence.
>>724714947You're heavily underestimate how long it takes to make game. Especially one like a undertale fangame that's meant to play like undertale.Sure having just three people in those roles, could theatrically give you all need, but it will still take a lot of effort, time, and resources.
>>724713694again?
>>724715198I know making a game is a huge effort, but I mean, unless they are making something the size of Deltarune I don't see why they always need more people, most if these don't even have demos
>>724715198>>724715550The main issue is most game projects are made by idea guys/artists first, with almost no programmers or writers, so the projects just remain dead because they can't code.Programmers are the lifeblood of any game.
>>724715198Theatrically?
>>724714835Martlet is a conflict of personal ideas of justice vs general ideas, she just fails to live up to her own ideals in pacifist because the writers robbed her of her own chance at character development in that route. Ceroba is sin and forgiveness that it lets you determine the resolution of, and it also shows the effects that ripples from having injustice inflicted can have with how everything with chujins downfall and eventually cerobas mistakes started with the snowdin incident. it didn't miss the mark completely because things like this are still coherent enough to see, but they were very inconsistent about how well they realized and explored these things.
>>724716608Yes, theatrically because all 3 of them are artists and they got no coders or game designers
>>724716725What does theater have to do with anything?
>>724712093Is that all? Crazy how we went from over 50 fangames (just counting the orange ones) to a handful now, and most of them are still at risk of being cancelled

>>724719309integrity's attack and how it scarred the family is an injustice. their actions are their own yet at the same time that road would not have been walked if it was not for the actions of another. the pacifist route quietly asks the question of "should the court show mercy on this character because their actions were due to extraneous circumstances" and then leaves the final decision in your hands. you can of course say that no, they do not deserve mercy but its still thematically about justice and its application.
>>724719619>>724719309kanako's fate was an injustice and nothing you say will convince me otherwise

>>724720050The risk of losing something will drive people just as far, sometimes further, than actual loss.
>>724720050no its ok that tons of people you know just got slaughtered and your daughter nearly got killed as well because you didn't personally lose anything! you didn't lose the sense of security being locked in this shithole mountain may have given as a consolation prize for being trapped underground or anything
>>724720097>>724720210it's the difference between getting shot by a robber and getting so scared of potential robbery you accidentally shoot yourself
>>724720378except in the second scenario its not just the potential of a robbery, but the potential of ANOTHER robbery. chujin absolutely fucked up, but it was spurred on by an actual mass murder right next to home.
>>724720378How apt are you to shoot someone out fear of them shooting you vs how apt are you to hunt them down in revenge for previously shooting you. That's what we're talking about here.Chujin was afraid of what might happen, rather seeking revenge for something that already happened. Fear governed his actions, not anger.
>>724719619And Integrity got what was due when they got axed by Axis. That's justice. Preforming lab experiments and being imprisoned in a test tube until another two souls are collected is not. Letting someone walk free for child endangerment (Kanako's death) and attempted murder is the absence of consequences.
>>724720512>Preforming lab experiments and being imprisoned in a test tube until another two souls are collected is not. Letting someone walk free for child endangerment (Kanako's death) and attempted murder is the absence of consequences.cool! I already made it clear that the game lets you make that final determination, but the theme is asking the question I laid out, you're jumping past the theme because you already know your conclusion on the matter
>>724720050kek
>>724720586And my question was what does Ceroba's goal of developing a serum have to do with the concept of justice? The decision whether or not she should die is tied to Clover as a character and not her.
>>724704931Yeah that happens sometimes. Slope collision is so bad, man. You go inside a little every time you hit the corner. Still trying to figure out what makes that happen. As for going out of bounds, this is a quirk of how I handled sliding along the box colliders: if it notices you're going to clip inside, it pushes you out to the edge, so depending on the direction you're moving it might push you to the other side.I'll design maps such that you can make your way back in if you go OOB, but I really need to fix the slopes issue.>>724707803This is actually original dialogue. I wrote it from scratch, only vaguely remembering what was spoken of in canon. So Jockington's speech pattern is my imitation of what I recall he sounded like (the typos are intentional). Here's the SURVEY_2 Concept Demo, compiled for 32-bit machines: https://files.catbox.moe/22pozu.zipAnd here's the Engine Demo by itself in case you want one but not the other:https://files.catbox.moe/xoo2cp.zip>>724707439Alright, hopefully the build above works. It took two months to get where I am with the engine: at that pace, it would take at least another half year to put together what little I did for the concept demo. However it runs greats on One Core, much better than older versions of Game Maker or Godot.I do have some more creative critiques though.>1I understand that you're going with the "Kris is Frisk" idea, but I feel going as far as calling him Frisk is a bit too on the nose. I think it'd be better to start off the same, but slowly ease the player in to the changes. that way it makes the whole "deltarune from an alternate timeline angle more effective. Instead of calling him Frisk, you could still call him Kris, but have him act more like Frisk, and maybe reveal later that his name was changed to Kris when he was adopted by the Dreemurrs.I do prefer the old Kris is Chara theory and think it fits Kris better and makes for a better story, but that's a matter of personal opinion, so I won't press you on it.>2I think giving Gaster a talk sound in the opening is a bad call. Its, again, too unsubtle, and just sounds bad. It brings down the mood in what was originally a very strong mysterious opening. I would suggest giving him no talk sound at all in the opening, possibly throughout the whole game.

>>724730783>you're basically going to have to make two gamesThat's true. Remaking just the prologue shouldn't be a big setback, at least. Another option is just making the whole game in Kristal, and with what you've said about compatibility, I might more seriously consider that.>Kris is FriskI'd joke about the fix being to change your fun value to 6, but you can't even save in this demo lmao. Shift + ~ opens up a debug menu where you can change flags, then reload the room with a tempsave. There are several reasons I did this, but most currently relevant is that I think it preserves some misdirection from the original DR release. Just as people immediately thought of Chara when first seeing Kris, seeing the name Frisk would bring to mind popular "uwu pacifism baby" headcanons, overlooking the cruel things the character could do in UT. Frisk living with Toriel is also a nod to "UT surface sequel" assumptions. There will be some nods to Kris is Chara. The idea is that Frisk and Chara are more similar than Asriel gave them credit for at the end of UT. And for what it's worth, the story was originally conceived with Chara as the protagonist, which may become more clear later on.I see your point about easing in players to the changes, though. And I do like your idea of the name being changed when adopted by the Dreemurrs. I'll keep your suggestions in mind and see what others might say.>GasterYeah I went back and forth on that. It's already very blatant who's talking so I'll remove it, though it sounds kinda awkward with Toriel having a voice. I originally planned for him to use the Entry 17 voice blips later in the game, but I really like your "no voice" idea and will definitely consider it.Thanks a lot for your feedback.
>>724738821I think you should make it so that fun value being 6 makes the protag be called frisk, otherwise its named kris
>>724738821>and with what you've said about compatibilityOne Core API is an unstable janky solution, its at the point now where I really wouldn't target it as a platform. I have to use it in a dual boot configuration because it has so many major bugs and issues that it can't be used on my main OS install. So if you use Kristal, you should consider your minimum requirements to be Windows Vista or newer. There's also the serious risk that it drops support for Vista at some point. I'd say Kristal would make a better choice than Godot if you were forced to use a premade engine, but I'd still avoid it if possible. Personally (this is me speaking about myself, not making a suggestion) I'd use an old version of GameMaker, probably Studio 1 or GameMaker 8, if I had to give up on using my own engine. > seeing the name Frisk would bring to mind popular "uwu pacifism baby" headcanons, overlooking the cruel things the character could do in UT. I see what you're going for, but I think this might be the Ryan Johnson kind of misdirection, rather than the Toby Fox kind. I think the name just doesn't fit him. Its just off putting and takes me out of the moment. And I feel that whatever benefit might be gained from it would outweighed by the harm it causes. Maybe you could flip it so the character is named Frisk in a fun event rather than the other way around. Maybe even add an option for him to be named Chara (that being the name the player enters) in another fun event.>, though it sounds kinda awkward with Toriel having a voiceMaybe consider removing her voice from the intro too. You don't hear Kanako's voice in DRY's intro, and it works. As a side note, I think Gaster's dialogue there could stand to be more vague, and should probably reference the previous survey, possibly with some short and vague comment about things being different. Perhaps something about meeting again, and him having something new to show you

I also have an idea for where to use the name Frisk in the future that would fit way more than the reverse.>I think Gaster's dialogue there could stand to be more vague, and should probably reference the previous surveyYeah, I felt like my intro dialogue was very on the nose: I'm bad with subtlety. I'd like to refine it in the future. As for referencing the previous survey, this is a cool idea, but for plot reasons it unfortunately can't work in this moment. He will definitely mention something of the sort in the future, and I'll think about where else to sneak it in (eg. the menus). Also, my idea for the Gamejolt/Itch pages (whenever I may actually publish this game) is for it to be presented in-character as Gaster.>>724740890At the end of the day, it's just a second fun value. I don't want to get things spoiled, so I'll just take your word on it that these two things aren't contradictory. In the meantime, maybe you could just make it something like "And so we meet again". That could refer to Undertale or the Twitter takeover just as easily as it could refer to Deltarune chapter 1.Unrelated tangent, but I had another idea for that Marsch character. Instead of having a watch that stops time, he has a watch that skips forward in time. That would fit more with his whole schtich about inevitable fate. In universe, when he skips time its actually causing things to play out on autopilot, the characters acting as they would if you weren't involved. Obviously, the characters are practically worthless in a fight without (you) at least against a schizoboss. However, to (you) it appears as though you were just in one place, and now you're in another. More importantly, it also appears this way to your party. They have no memory of the skipped time, since it was a different version of them that lived through it. Non-party members, however, see time flow normally.Yes, this is literally King Crimson, but it fits and would absolutely work as a schizo boss ability, and would tie in great with that weird shit Sans did in Undertale.

>>724746096I see myself in Kris and Dalv
>>724746813I just thought of something. He could skip your turn. So when he does that, it skips the part where you choose characters actions and goes straight to the characters acting, with their actions being decided automatically. You'd have to limit this ability so the fight doesn't become completely unfair, but it could be a cool special attack that he could telegraph a turn prior, and maybe you can warn your party members so they know a turn ahead of time what move to make.

>>724753753>I've only seen a handful of his works, but my understanding of this criticism is that his subversion often feels overly spiteful or demeaning. That is a big problem, but its not just that. Its also that its cheap and often wasteful. He has all these genuinely cool ideas and premises that he just throws away for a cheap gotcha. My point is that just because something is different or throws people off doesn't mean its good, you need a reason for these kind of things beyond that, and it has to work in context and still feel right.>It was either that or nutdealer. That would only work as the title of a porn game.> or the battle box just immediately comes up without the attack/act having gone off.I just thought of a way to tie it in to a callback. When he skips your choice, it cuts to black then straight to his turn, then Marsch says "Don't you get it?. In this world, your choices don't matter.">, I think the interactive medium makes taking this on have a very different feel from watching it play out as a reader. Its funny you bring that up, because King Crimson was actually a bit of a meta play its medium itself. In universe its a time skip, but the real idea with it is that its based on the inferred action between manga panels. You see one panel with a character in one place, then another panel with him in another place, and you infer the motion and actions between those panels. King Crimson basically skips a manga panel, causing more actions to be inferred.>By the way I have never read Alice in Wonderland. I really should,I'd say read it and watch the Tim Burton movie. The novel is self explanatory, but the movie adds an extra layer by it being an adaptation of the book, but also a sequel to it, and including a lot of elements of prophecy, destiny, and repeated history. All stuff that I think is thematically relevant here.

>>724759123>think I should? What fangame do you want to make?
>>724759224idkrandom off the top of my head idea:UnderGear - It's Undertale with 2D Metal Gear sneaking. Enemies join mid-battle if you don't finish battles quick. Avoid getting hit for three turns to 'evade' an enemy.
I thought about making a /v/ themed undertale with some stupid memes, but then I realized /v/ndertale looks like that annoying meme so I stopped having ideas. Also there's like, 2 memes sort of related around Undertale/Deltarune on /v/ I can really think of and I feel like it'd be a problem to include either either one.
>>724759616>but then I realized /v/ndertale looks like that annoying meme so I stopped having ideas. That's half the fun anon.
>>724759616The thing is: You don't have to publish it under your name or any name. So if you made a giant shitpost nobody would know.Remember this game is made by Toby "Radiation" Fox, you think he doesn't know about shitposts?
>>724759417That's a really cool idea. Thematically that would work very well for a game set in New Home or another crowded area, with an emphasis on difficulty and trying to survive. It will be tempting to kill monsters to get away faster and become stronger, but the more you kill the more panicked and dangerous the city becomes. Think of Dishonored and the chaos system.>>724759616The good way of doing it would be like Pokémon Clover, which desu was a massive collaborative effort. It's a shitpost, but with an actual story and high-quality design. Mons weren't all Pokémon memes but mostly assorted internet humor, which was made it great.>2 memes sort of related around Undertale/Deltarune on /v/ I can really think of and I feel like it'd be a problem to include either either oneA rape-centered game would be interesting to say the least. If you were going that route I would prefer Deltarune but in the style of Fear and Hunger.
>>724759616I do have an urge to include /v/ or /vrpg/ references if I ever make a fan game. I do also fear getting stoned if normalfags find out my connections to here.

>>724759164>>724759224>>724759264everything is the same but 'Fight' is replaced with 'Fuck'.

It will be tempting to kill monsters to get away faster and become stronger, but the more you kill the more panicked and dangerous the city becomes. Think of Dishonored and the chaos system.Oh I was thinking the whole game, but that makes more sense. idk I guess I would need a story or a reason you're there that's metal-gear esque. Like maybe you were sent in by the Human government to see if they had the capability of launching a nuclear weapon an attack on the surface and then you got stuck inside.

>>724759775>A rape-centered game would be interesting to say the least. If you were going that route I would prefer Deltarune but in the style of Fear and Hunger.I feel like the running joke would be that despite it being called "Tricky Tony 'Toxicity' Fawkes's Rape Quest" it has almost no actual rape in it. All the sex is completely consensual and most of it isn't sexual at all.

>>724760857>Unknown to him, the voice was coming from inside the mountain all along. That sounds like an interesting character.>Probably just the regular monsters but he puts a melodramatic spin on all of them.Maybe it could be the mercs from the core. >>724761194>they could get quirky personalities to go along with them.I already have an idea for one. A sasquatch who wears thick black sunglasses (think like the terminator), smokes a cigar, and plays the bass guitar, but he's also this amazing tracker who's said to be impossible to evade. He will interrupt tense scenes to hit a crazy slap bass solo. Also already have an idea for a gag. They all have codenames like Decoy Octopus or Psycho Mantis, but because they're monsters they're also literally things like mantises and octopi. Except each member has an unfitting nickname that would much better describe someone else on the team. Like the octopus would be called Mantis, and the mantis would be called Octopus.>What color would the soul be?I would say perseverance since that best fits the personality and gameplay described by you, but he probably couldn't be THE purple soul seen in Undertale since he doesn't seem like the type to wear cloudy glasses and use a torn notebook as a weapon.Maybe he's just another human that fell down, maybe this is an au where he fell instead of one of the other humans.

>>724762428tnat's integrity's color though.
>>724761103>>724761870>>724762165What would the goal of the mercenary group be?My current idea is that they conspiring against Asgore, Like they wanted to take the human souls for themselves and cross the barrier, but now that there is a human in the underground their plans changed and they want to capture youHell you could make it sort of a twist where at first they seem to be loyal to Asgore but then its revealed that the leader wants your soul for himself
>>724762412Put entire compooter in bed
>>724762551Light blue then? Or a color between cyan and green
>>724762165>Guess I'm on the hook to make a fan game nowIf you want to make it have different gameplay from normal Undertale, you'll probably have to learn to use something like Godot or Gamemaker to make the game custom. If you're going to copy it, there are a few open source projects like Kristal that do most of the work. Personally, I would suggest starting with something small. Like a single fight fangame (could use Unitale if its going to be in the normal Undertale style). In the mean time, I'm happy to keep thinking of character ideas. Like Sentry Raven and Iron Mollusc. Sentry Raven is a possessed pitching machine who snipes people with baseballs. He earned his name for his role as a sentry, and his morose attitude reminding people of the Edgar Allen Poe story. Unfortunately he no eyes, so his spotter has to tell him where to aim. His spotter, Iron Mollusc, is a black bird monster who uses his natural flight to gather reconnaissance and spot for his teammates. His name comes from his habit of cracking snails against hard metal surfaces.
>>724762412You can draw in bed. That's the only way I draw.
>>724762719I was thinking that since your character was tricked into going into the underground by his "commander" on the radio, that they were deceived by said "commander" as well. Perhaps whoever is on the other end of the radio is trying to get both sides to wipe each other out so he can swoop in and take the soul for himself, alongside eliminating whatever threat the mercs pose to him (possibly he wants to take over the underground, and the mercs are the only actual threat who would be able and willing to stop him).
>>724762719>What would the goal of the mercenary group be?Has to be Metal Gear.
>>724763325What if they have somehow come into possession of a human built robot, and they're trying to reactivate it for their own use?
>>724763262>(possibly he wants to take over the underground, and the mercs are the only actual threat who would be able and willing to stop him). What about Asgore?
>>724761870>Maybe he's just another human that fell down, maybe this is an au where he fell instead of one of the other humans.>>724763262If the commander is a boss monster you could still make this entire thing fit in the canon, just have one of the endings be the kid killing the boss and then going back to the surface or maybe the commander sees the error of his way and gives up his soul so the kid can go back to the surface
>>724763615That's what the soul is for.
>>724763262I prefer the idea of the mercs being absolutely loyal to the commander and believing that it would be for the best if he gets the human soul, with the idea that Asgore is too much of a softy to actually go with his plan to liberate all of monsterkind
>>724763827Maybe the mercs' leader is the boss monster, and he dies to the radio guy's inevitable betrayal, but before he dies, he tells the player to take his soul and leave the underground so he can deny it to the radio guy.Alternatively, maybe if you refuse to kill Mr Radio, that just gets you the stay in the underground ending. Or you could have it so he dies anyways, possibly due to his own hubris, or because one of the mercs takes him out as revenge.
>>724763489They come into possession of a forklift and think that's the deadly human weapon that will let them take over the underground.Unfortunately that forklift is carrying a bomb, that is armed, and they don't understand what it is other than 'came with the forklift'.
>>724764132Those things aren't mutually exclusive. They could be die hard loyal, and completely unaware that he's just using them.I think the idea of the human kid having a "commander" that he's constantly taking orders from over radio would be cool, especially if said commander becomes the third act twist villain.
>>724764231They found one broken down forklift and rebuilt it into the shape of a mini metal gear thinking that was its original form, the bomb was added later
>>724764289>They could be die hard loyal, and completely unaware that he's just using them.Okay but what if, when it's revealed that he was using them, they are still fully loyak to him, either as a way to cope or they just agree with his goalOr maybe they loyalty canges if you are doing a pacifist route or a geno one, they remain loyal in genocide
>>724764418Have it look like a P-5000 Powered Work Loader since that's basically a sci-fi forklift already.
>>724764231I think the point of these guys is that they aren't stupid or incompetent like the royal guard. I feel like they shouldn't be doing something that stupid. Maybe they know its basically a fork lift, but its like a big sci fi fork lift like the power loader from aliens, so its still dangerous enough to actually be an asset. And that bomb is their emergency anti human counter measure.
>>724764529I feel like there wouldn't be any of them left to realize he's evil in the genocide route. Maybe while he and the last surviving member are escaping, he locks the other guy in with you in an attempt to slow you down while he escapes, and its only then that the last member realizes their leader never cared for any of them.
>>724764680>>724764529I like that, very metal gear
>>724765224So, we are keeping loyalty as a theme in the game?
>>724765304Sure, why not. You can play with the idea of someone being loyal to someone they shouldn't. With the mercs being loyal because they were lied to and manipulated, while the kid is loyal because he's a dumb kid who throws around his loyalty too freely. You can also have the mercs be loyal for different reasons. Maybe one is actually loyal to monsterkind, but thinks going against Asgore is the best way to do that. Another joined up because of his friends joining. Another was taken in and practically raised from nothing by the commander. And another is only there because of the high pay and job security. You can examine why people are loyal, what the limits of loyalty should be, and how far people are willing to go for it.
>>724765575The protagonist could be a kid who wandered aimlessly through life and just wanted something to give him a purpose, he instantly became loyal to the comnder without a second thought because the commander gave him just that, he didn't have to think anymore, just follow the simple orders
>>724765575that's big boss' whole backstory
>>724765845Which one?
>>724765980Taking in the misfits of society and making a fighting team out of them
>>724765796Yeah, the kid is looking for a purpose in life. Wants to be a hero like the guys in his favorite action movies. He'd be prime recruiter bait if he were a few years older. But instead he's running around in the woods with a nerf gun shooting at trees. He was probably on a "special mission" (some older kids dared him to do it) to Mt Ebott and was sending one way transmissions (talking to nobody) back to base through his walkie talkie, when he received the commander's distress call. Upon hearing the perfect setup for an 80s action blockbuster, he eagerly climbed down the hole the voice on the radio told him about and went after those evil underground monster terrorists.
>>724766223I'm pretty sure that's also the backstory of the A-team, and the X-men. Its a pretty common trope.
>>724760198What do you do in the Mr Sunshine game?
>>724767156fuck enemies to death
>>724742638Is Mr. Sunshine racist like Chujin? What more does he want from Riley?
>>724768130No, he's not racist. He *loves* humans. Whether they like it or not.
>>724768130He wants to see the sun (the surface). We don't know what that means but he might have an obsession with Riley, probably the only human he's seen (though that depends on the timeline and how long monsters are imprisoned). Why not toy with him, kick his ass and then let him live so he can watch Riley seethe and obsess on getting revenge, hence giving Mr. Sunshine reciprocal attention?
>>724746096I used to be Charakin
>>724768645Two possible theories for him.1. Mr. Sunshine is a boss monster and wants Riley's soul to escape the Underground. Ultimately, he doesn't care for the fate of the other monsters.2. Based on this letter, Mr. Sunshine sees himself as a "hero" and protector of monsters, and he sees Riley as a human who stepped into his territory. Maybe he thinks he's doing the right thing by killing Riley. The last line of the letter doesn't make sense though, and could literally mean anything.
>>724769009
>>724769232>. Mr. Sunshine is a boss monster and wants Riley's soul to escape the UndergroundHe doesn't need to be a boss monster to do that.I'm pretty sure he's got an ego which borders on a god complex, and wants Riley's soul to make himself an actual god. Probably so he can force everyone in the ground to adore him like he's the real sun.

who wins in a battle royale of all humans?
>>724810274realistically its frisk based on what we know. we dont have any other examples of the humans having unfettered control of the timelines regardless of LV
>>724809694Good! I still revisit my Snowdin save just to talk to her once or twice a month, and it's nice to know other old regulars still visit these threads as well
>>724809694really not that much art despite how cute of a design she has
>>724811340It's the background character curse... SignirSol has drawn some great pics of her before though, I just haven't been around when they are lately so I haven't been able to request more of her (yet)
>>724810274underratedshame her creator ships her with Sans
>>724811816>entire AU dies because the creator couldn't keep it in her pants
>>724812098Is this really what happened? Last I heard the creator went on hiatus but the comic's still being worked on
>>724810274how do people usually depict perserverance as a virtue? I've been trying to make an OC with a magenta soul but i have trouble separating perserverance from determination
>>724812286Because the red soul's trait isn't determination, it's sense of self. All the kids had determination, Perseverance would just have a whole lot of it, only trumped by You.
>>724812286My head canon is that determination is all about moving forward no matter what, while perseverance is about learning from your mistakes and then trying again>Even when you felt trapped, you took notes and achieved the end of "Ball." - Purple quote from the ball game
>>724810274Whichever ones get their games released
>>724812286Determination is the will to persist, the ability to change fate. Perseverance is the ability to endure hardship. They may be superficially similar, but the difference lies in the specifics. Determination warps reality to keep its user alive no matter what and second will warp it to its users benefit whenever possible. It will always ensure that the use will continue until he reaches the end.Perseverance allows to the user to endure hardship, not necessarily with any goal in mind. It has no default set end point and is a much more internal thing. A person with perseverance would be one tough bastard, but he probably wouldn't be able to pull the kind of shit Frisk could.
>>724812582>Because the red soul's trait isn't determination, it's sense of selfwould you mind elaborating?
>>724812582Red is (you)
>>724812286why is Kris groping the knight's ass?
>>724807829Why won't Chujin stop fantasizing about humans?
>>724812286>hand on assLittle man is a player
>>724813006reward for being a dutiful squire
>>724812098Why do femoids like sans.
>>724813473>Funny>tragic backstory>secretly really strong
>>724812946Well the main thing is to disprove red as being Determination. In fact, if it had a color, it'd be gold. Determination is never once written as red.Asgore also is familiar with the concept of saving and loading, as he understands if you say he's killed you before meaning other kids could do that, they just eventually gave up.As for what the red trait actually is, a recurring theme is about identity and knowing who you yourself are and that's really the best we had before Deltarunehttps://nochocolate.tumblr.com/post/153875085963/the-red-soulWith what we know from Deltarune now, though, it really could just be as simple as >>724812994You don't have a trait because You are your own person rather than a fictional character. It's up to You what your defining characteristic is.
>>724813656>In fact, if it had a color, it'd be goldWhere are you getting this from?Anyways, red being (you) and it being determination aren't mutually exclusive. Determination is basically just in universe protagonism, and (you), being the player, have more protagonism than everyone else in the game put together. So (you) are yourself, and because of that you have more determination than anyone else by an order or magnitude.
>>724668552The fact that you can't marry a cute fox girl.
>>724807829pregnant Chujin looks cute
>>724813656>meaning other kids could do that,i've been thinking for a while, that it may not be that the other kids specifically could do that, but perhaps that he simply knew it was a power that could exist. perhaps there was a soul with that power that helped seal monsters underground in the first place. also when you load after killing toriel and she says "do you know something I do not? that is impossible" or something along those lines. toriel is someone that lived in denial of a lot of things. the idea i've been running with is that perhaps boss monsters have a certain understanding or knowledge of the world be it either from their increased determination, or knowledge passed down over a long time. its not to say that specifically the other kids had that power, and more I think that who else if not a boss monster would know what kind of powers a human would be capable of. especially when its implied asgore and gerson think even if they got all the souls they'd be sealed back underground again

>>724808321Hm, I skimmed through the artbook pages relevant to the human or the endgame, and I didn't see this anywhere. I also read the localisation book about a year ago and have no recollection of this coming up.I do remember that unused sprite though, and I'd agree Kris's design is meant to draw parallels
>>724814727I know the Asriel boss idea wasn't even in the original Undertale script. He only came up with it while doing the sprites for the demo.

>>724810274>>724820179>>724820819is interesting how most of the orange humans in the pick don't have gloves or have gloves with the wrong color, the tough gloves are pink

>>724822001>>724822158You guys are right, RACE TRAITORley is too much of a pussy to be THE orange soul, I bet he fought Mr. Sunshine, jobbed and begged for his life like a bitch, which saved him because no human would be this pathetic, so Mr Sunshine just let him go
