What are the definitive versions for the Disgaea games? Are the remasters cursed like the Final Fantasy series?
>>724676436The most recent ones are the best. Disgaea 1 Complete does have the one caveat of replacing the old sprites, but that’s the worst of it.
>>724676436Console versions are unironically the best ones because they have "Complete" editions. Don't ever get anything with "PC" in the title.
>>724676436The only really cursed one is Disgaea 1 Complete, for half-assedly replacing the original sprites with different sprites from newer games (that chapter with scarescrow monsters and masked mages ambushing you in the forest? Yeah, those masked mages are all cute glasses-wearing shotas now)Aside from that, the latest version of each typically has the most and best content.

was gonna make a thread but I saw this and don't wanna wait for the timerI just finished the story of Disgaea 5. I played 1 and 2 recently and didn't do the postgames but I want to do it in 5where exactly does one begin with the postgame? should I start grinding my characters as high as possible or start doing item world first? what's the best team to use? I've pretty much only used unique units so far
>>724683384My last d5 postgame was 5 years ago so my memory is fuzzy, but usalia overload one shotting item world levels is ideal I think.
>>724684114how do you reliably build overload for that?
>>724676436All the ported versions of this series are the better versions including spinoffs(Maybe except ZHP) as they usually add a lot of quality of life improvements, bug fixes, added content, and DLCs being free ingame. Basically just avoid the original console releases. Just know there's 2 versions of D1. One is a port and the other is a remaster. The remaster was kind of pointless though since all they did was change the artwork and added very little changes so it boils down to weather you like the old art work or not.
>>724683384You need to work on unlocking Land of Carnage. Just keep passing bills until you see new maps show up I think. The road map to beefing up your characters is pretty long in this one and too much to type on 4chan limit. Just follow the detailed guides on gamefaqs.https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/204217-disgaea-5-complete/72669273
>>724683384There's also Disgaea threads on /vrpg/ if you have anymore questions.
>>724685910thanks anon I'll check it out. I'm working on innocents atm>>724687462oh sweet, I checked - may Allah forgive me for uttering this board - /vg/, but didn't think to check /vrpg/
is it ok to pla y the ds version ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
>>724684995the low quality sprites are cute
>>724688881which version is the remastered sprites? I played Disgaea PC which I know isn't recommended but I already had it on steam and I only did the story anywayhow are phantom brave and la pucelle and the other older games?
>>724688881They aren't and I cant go back after the jump to HD.
>>724684995It's funny I started missing the OLD sprites when Disgaea 1 Complete came out. A distinct art direction was lost from the first game.
>>724690110Phantom Brave has a physics engine which is fun to play around with and La Pucelle focuses more on geo panels, but they're both essentially the same games as Disgaea in terms of gameplay. The stories in both are good as well. I haven't played Makai Wars yet but I'd assume it and the other games are just Disgaea but with a unique mechanic attached.
>>724678578You also need to mod back in some music.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcBfdFn0sU8&list=RDrcBfdFn0sU8&start_radio=1
>>724676436Disgaea PC or 1 Complete if you want the higher res graphics (some things were removed in this version, but has some QoL)Disgaea 2 PCDisgaea 3 Absence of DetentionDsigaea 4 Complete+Disgaea D2 only has one versionDisgaea 5 everywhere but on PC since they removed the online stuffstop there
>>724690940Reminds me of how Atlus USA also added a licensed track to Digital Devil Saga.https://youtube.com/watch?v=5ErrlgLpLH8
>>724678824>>724680369getting mixed signals here haha
>>724691164>Disgaea 5 everywhere but on PC since they removed the online stuffI understand the idea of avoiding a version that doesn't have literally all the content, but I've read about this "online stuff" and I genuinely do not feel like I'm missing out, at all.
>>724694049yeah, not really
