Why doesn't Terraria have an Herobrine?
It would be extremely terrifying
You'd just shoot him in the face
Because it's a 2d sidescroller so there's no myserty. You see everything.
>>724688754did you mean: a herobrine?surely you're not european?

REMINDER that the Terraria devs said they'll release the last update (for real guys we totally mean it this time) by the end of this year so either it comes out in the next 2 months or they lied.

>>724688754You're too strong, why should I be intimidated by some random ghost when I'm killing lovecraftian gods?
>ENTER
>>724691554Akshually they said between mid December to end on January
>>724688754More like why are the devs so fucking lazy>lets make another game>urgh its too hard>lets make a dozen low quality vanity items and sell terraria againEven starbound has active updates both to the game engine and its mod framework from the 4 hyper autistic furries that still play it
>>724692884Yes that's their current estimate but previously they were quoted as saying it'd be out by the end of the year. It's clear the patch was meant to be much smaller and come out awhile ago but they couldn't help themselves and kept adding more and more stuff. It reminds me of Silksong. Another indie game that was originally supposed to just be DLC for Hollow Knight but then the devs couldn't help themselves and it ended up so big it turned into it's own separate game. They just kept adding on and onto it instead of just releasing it.Captcha: PUSSY
>>724692902The guy who made Stardew Valley could have easily gone the Terraria route and made endless updates to his game but apparently he's been working on a new game called Haunted Chocolatier. Not gonna lie it does look pretty similar to Stardew but at least it seems he's trying something new instead of just coasting on the massive success of Stardew, which he could have easily done.
>>724688754Having an antagonistic player-style character somewhere in the game world doing its own thing sounds like a fun idea. Probably less fun if it starts wrecking the stuff you built, but at least just stalking you around the place (with gradually improving equipment). Improve its AI every time you kill it so you have to be smart about it or something. It would be pointless, but that's most of Terraria at this point so not really out of place.
>>724688754faggot shit
>>724693251Did you forget CA just updated Stardew this year?
>why do they keep adding free content instead of milking me for my money with shitty sequels that don't live up to the original?
>>724688754I don't know man
>>724693438>everything must always stay the same>i hate [new thing]>[old thing] always good
>>724693438Terraria came out in 2011. That's 14 years of updates and new content. This makes the prospect of a Terraria 2 impractical because any attempt to build a new Terraria sequel from scratch would inevitably disappoint as there would almost certainly be a bunch of missing features from the first Terraria. It reminds me of how for years people salivated over the idea of a World of Warcraft 2. But that's a game with about 25 years of development behind it. At this point it's obviously easier to just keep adding and updating WoW because any WoW 2 would be missing a ton of features.Even if it was just missing something like battle pets people would bitch, which isn't even taking into account the problems with screwing around with the fans sense of sunk cost fallacy. It's how modern gaming is. Which is why you can't expect a Minecraft 2 or a Fortnite 2 any time soon either.
>>724693935no one cares about your sunk cost fallacy autistic bro. technology today is so far advanced from the mid 00s its not even funny. all these shit companies patching 25 yo game engines rather than getting on a new one are simply lazy, greedy, assholes. And you can see this quite easily from the hundreds of solo/hobby projects that pop up using modular frameworks in unity/UE5. You can make a full game in a few hours. They hold game jams every few months in which people do exactly this.
>>724693935Why is terraria just making shitty vanity updates instead of actual content expansions though? I'd love actual post moonlord bosses and shit, just keep it goingI love Grim Dawn for putting out xpacs still
>>724693929>>724694317>>724694336The funny part is that if Terraira 2 came out and did anything you don't like you will spend forever in every T2 thread saying how the devs went to shit and how the game is trash and how the original was better.Just look at Risk of Rain 1 vs 2.
>>724694637I didn't say I want terraria 2, try reading posts before making retarded strawman replies
>>724694317>all these shit companies patching 25 yo game engines rather than getting on a new one are simply lazy, greedy, assholesThe thing is, despite how shitty modern WoW is, it is still bringing in a ton of money every year. So if they were to release a WoW 2 it could completely fracture the community. There is no guarantee all WoW players would migrate to WoW 2. WoW 2 could have a ton of problems. Forget about devs being lazy, from a FINANCIAL standpoint, making a sequel to WoW would be a major risk that could potentially cost the company billions of dollars. If you're an exec at Activision Blizzard who gives zero shits about video games as a medium, it is just easier to keep milking WoW 1 for the foreseeable future.I'd be curious to see what a WoW 2 with modern tech would look like but there's no reason to think we'll ever get that any time soon if we ever get it at all.
>>724693935>At this point it's obviously easier to just keep adding and updating WoW because any WoW 2 would be missing a ton of features.Except not, because the ton of features are what turned the game shit in the first place, idiot
>>724694637Risk of Rain 1 vs 2 made a huge difference by going from 2D to 3D, thus justifying a full sequel. Terraria already has enough people comparing it to Minecraft and a 3D Terraria would only make these accusations worse.
>>724694692I didn't mean to quote that last repy

>>724694637>risk of lamelol LAMO even of all the utter garbage you could have picked you chose the game that not only never worked at all in its original state but the dev is a massive cock gobbler, refused to fix the orignal and then tried to re-sell it to the cultist faggots like you who ride his dick.
>>724694802No, streamlineing and removing features and homogenizing classes is what made it shit

i played terraria today. it was fun.
>>724688754I really don't know how to fix Terraria without losing the visual benefits of being a side scroller. It's the game's strongest and weakest point both.
>>724694802Honestly despite all the shitty gameplay elements of modern WoW the thing that makes it most easy to never go back is reminding myself of how shitty the lore has become to the point they made a literal tranny the most powerful person in the afterlife who decides where every dead being goes for eternity.Like if it just kept the old atmosphere of bloodthirty orcs and war and such then maybe it'd catch my interest. Instead it feels like it's written by writers rejected from Steven Universe who hate the very concept of war and want everyone to come together to defeat enemies with the power of FRIENDSHIP.Say what you will about older expansions like Pandaria but at least those had a clear easy to understand theme (basically China with pandas). What even is the theme of "The War Within' expansion or "Midnight"? It's not easy to understand to a regular normie. You have to already be deeply invested in WoW lore to even understand what these expansions are about.
>>724695301>You have to already be deeply invested in WoW lore to even understand what these expansions are about.that's the point i think. they dont care about new players, they just want the mazed papyigs. the lore is just to placate the percentage of those people that actually give a shit so they can go>ohmigosh, like, did blue elf really just betray red elf?
>>724695376>ohmigosh, like, did blue elf really just betray red elf?Multiple recent expansions were centered around a main villain who was an evil purple female elf (Sylvanas). People got sick and tired of Sylvanas so they replaced her with... the main villain being another evil purple female elf (foot fetish edition).Bravo Blizzard. 10/10 writing.
>>724692404Kids these days don't remember that being in the game.
>>724695376>>724695301>they dont care about new players, they just want the mazed papyigsWhile the second part is true, nu-Blizzard had done everything to be able to sit on both chairs, but had ended up making so much modern "progressive" things (incompatible with the old audience) that the aforementioned audience had started leaving and keeps leaving even now. Let's be honest, i had fell for that half-assed bait of "you're definitely working for Sylvanas, but undercover, here is your badg- 'buff', now go and make the revolution happen" along with a small different quest line and the greatest bait of all in form of that small in-game cutscene in the end of BfA. I had bought next addon actually waiting for the miracle to happen, then i had seen, that "democracy Horde" isn't going anywhere, faggots are now appearing, various characters are dealt with in a way i clearly don't like - it just feels fake and gay, literally - i have very different world view compared to modern script writers, apparently, on what is good, bad, cool, lame etc - and (as i, as always, usually stop to play 3-4 months after the launch) i had observed, that everything just went further down the road i completely don't like, and then WoW had been rebooted once again with faggot centaurus addon.Cataclysm, despite a rather hard change of direction, was cool. Even Shadiwlands still had some cool and beautiful moments. But the further it went since, say, Legion or, maybe, Draenor, the more bad unlikeable things had been added. Legion was mostly cool. BfA had many interesting things. SL had, mostly, good-looking locations - plot went to shit, characters were further shittified or disposed of (see Borderlands 2 and onward compared to the original Borderlands) gameplay in anything outside of lfg has been turned into special olympics, while lfgs had took a turn toward the speedrunning shit (although that one had truly risen in Draenor with its "challenges" and in Legion with diablo3fied dungeons)
>play for 15 minutes>inventory fills up, void bag fills up>teleport home>do inventory management for 5 minutes>can't sell shit because you might need it in a 6 gorillion item recipe 20 gameplay hours later>rinse and repeat
>>724696074>Even Shadiwlands still had some cool and beautiful momentsFrom what I've seen it seems like people's favorite Shadowlands moment was this scene with Garrosh: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Nb3q1oROOgKeep in mind this scene almost didn't make it in. It was basically the passion project of one random dev. You can see Blizzard spent very little on this scene's development. Yet you get countless scenes of Sylvanas talking about nothing of value with much higher production value. It shows that the WoW devs priorities are all fucked up.
>>724696265Terraria has a feature where you can press a button and stacks of your items will fly into your chests without you even having to open them if you already have that item in a chest. I'm playing Stardew now and I wish I had that feature but to be fair Stardew doesn't bombard you with as much useless random items as Terraria does..
>>724696271Just how hard you have to fuck up every single character that fucking hatesink Garrosh becomes one of the coolest and likeable characters of the entire addon, that is even not about him - and purely for the loyalty to his own views - for his integrity.
>>724694962didn't read lol
>>724696265>can't sell shit because you might need it in a 6 gorillion item recipe 20 gameplay hours laterIf an item is a material it says it's material. And then you show it to your Guide and see what it makes. If you don't need what it makes. You sell it. Simple as.Also, skill issue. Everything you said is solved by playing Journey mode and using researches.
>>724696593>purely for the loyalty to his own views - for his integrity. There's a pic I don't have at the moment. But it shows Sylvanas in 2023 saying she regrets all that she did. And then in 2025 saying she doesn't regret anything that she did (honestly I could be getting the two mixed up). But it shows how little the writers of WoW even keep track of these character's motivations and viewpoints. Their job is literally to understand these characters and they don't. Random autists online know the characters more than them. This makes fans of WoW like Garrosh even more because a common joke is that he deleted himself from the game because he saw how terrible it was becoming.
>have a gun>combine it with an animali love it:)
>>724696384I'm aware. It helps a lot, but doesn't remove the difficulty of finding a certain material you've colleted, unless you do a serious storage system. Every time you find a new material, you have to find a place for it in said storage system. With the amount of materials, it does get a bit tedious.>>724696672Guide only shows you one step of crafting. Unless you have deep game knowledge or use the wiki, you have no way of knowing if the useless item you would craft will actually be used in crafting a very useful item ten steps later. It's still the lesser of my complaints, as the crafting part will resolve itself somewhat as game knowledge increases. But the inventory management will never cease.>Journey modeNever played it
>>724697234>serious storage systemI made one of those once. It's just under my home building, three rows going in both directions (the center being the teleport point/Hellevator). Each chest is labelled and made of a different material so I can easily see which is which. I need to put everything in manually the first time, but it works out nicely. Auto stack reaches everything from the ground floor, maybe need to go left and right a little. And then I just copy paste it with TEdit for new characters because I can't be arsed making it again.
>>724697234The items the guide shows you are also marked with the material tag if they are used in anything and there are only 3 items that really use a lot of shit that has to be crafted and the items that lead to those are useful. The cellphone's materials are useful for things like rare enemies, ore, time of day, and teleporting home. The ankh materials all give an immunity to some debuff. The boots are all useful and increase your mobility on each step of upgrading to terraspark. Everything else is mainly one or two tier crafting recipes so you will know if want to make them or not and many are with items you can easily remake so you can trash or sell them until you need them.
>>724692404OKAY NOW I KNOW YOU'RE POSTING OFFTOPIC!
>>724697573That's cool. I have a pretty big storage room too, but it's deeper underground and connected to the surface with a teleporter. It's due for a major expansion and restructuring, but I've been slacking off
>>724697837And to add none of this needs prior game knowledge as they all build up in an intuitive way. The only one I'd say might is the fishing items part of the cellphone and that's really only if you never fish and can't figure out that the fishing calender comes from the fishing quests.
>>724693935>Even if it was just missing something like battle pets people would bitchNobody tell him
>>724697837Ankh shield and the cellphone are mostly intuitive (aside from the fishing gear as you mentioned), but Terraspark boots require some items you might not intuitively understand to be important, for example the Lava Waders requiring a molten skull rose to craft, which itself is a combination of 3 or so immunity items.>>724697961Fishing as a mechanic is something I have mixed feelings about. On one hand, it is a convenient way to add items to the game that do not have to be collected from the environment and further bloat the biomes, and gathering items from biome crates that might otherwise be very hard to find or theoretically not spawn at all. But on the other hand, the only gameplay it offers is going to a location, standing in place and right clicking a bunch of times. There is no skill involved in any of this. Also, if you want to craft the cellphone, you have to fish for a long, long time.
>>724698765Lava Waders have the saving grace of two recipes that can lead into them but yea they are the pain in the ass point of that tree and I often forget about them until I'm at that point. As for fishing I completely agree with you. I like the idea of it but the implementation leave a lot to be desired. I wouldn't really mind it being so simple if it wasn't for fishing quests being so prolific and rng on what rewards you, as well as so many potion recipes needing fish.
Rewards you get*
>>724688754Wouldn't be very scary considering the ample amount of deadly weapons and tools you have access to, plus you fight scary bosses in the game already.I guess the closest thing to "Herobrine" would be that easter egg of the Companion Cube pet stabbing you in the dark
