Are you using NVIDIA or AMD?
>>
My last AMD card was the HD5770. The drivers were so shitty back then that I never returned to team red.
>>
>>724695232
Went from the Vega 56 to RTX 5080. I'm happy.
>>
Nvidia RTX 4090, its still the witches tits
>>
>>724695232
Nvidia. One before that was also Nvidia, but the one before that was amd.
>>
>>724695232
got a 6750xt some years ago on a sale. no complaints
>>
>>724695232
my last amd card was r9 380, after the driver support ended some games stopped launching and keep crashing, during that time period i saw gtx 900 still getting updates
switched to jewvidia and never looked back
>>
>>724695232
AMD, an RX 6700 XT specifically.
I came from an RX 480 8GB, but that died at the peak of the crypto shitshow some years ago.
The choice was either paying 2-3 times MSRP for the handful of Nvidia GPUs that weren't out of stock or getting AMD for "only" several hundred eurobucks more.
Assuming prices aren't blown up like back then I am fine with either Nvidia or AMD to be honest.
Currently I am only 100% in the AMD camp when it comes to CPUs.

6700 XT. I don't see myself upgrading for a while yet.
>>
>>724695232
Radeon HD5870
GTX750Ti
RX480 (lasted forever)
RTX3060Ti
RTX4070Ti Super

If AMD released a truly top end RX9000 GPU I would've bought it, shame that they didn't.
>>
>>724695232
6 year old 5700xt was chugging on newer titles so I got me a 9070xt. 4K is pretty nice, everything plays smoothly on Linux.

Always been an AMD GPU user, and recently upgraded to an AMD CPU as well. It just turned-out that way, no reason behind it.
>>
>>724696646
By Hashem I am glad I bought he Goy Destroyer 9070xt
>>
the only reason to buy amd is for the open source drivers, amd can't make drivers themselves.
>>
Nvidia. I used to like ATI and had a couple of AMD GPUs but the drivers just fucking suck. Now the drivers suck and stop being made after 3 years, absolutely retarded. I don't see myself ever buying another AMD card, especially after this shit show of dropping the 6000 series so early. Like what, you buy a 9070 XT today and they drop it in 2028? Fuck that.
>>
>>724697085
AMD contributes the most to the open source drivers out of anyone retard
And then Valve second
And then by troony loonies third
>>
>>724697125
Just buy low-end cards like 9060 every 4 years, it's cheaper in the long run.
>>
>>724697125
Not to mention they still made 6000 series cards like the 6950xt as late as 2022, I bought a brand new 6800 in mid 2024 back when it was only the 7000s series was new for only $350 and now my card is in "maintenance mode" kek fuck AMD.

>Nvidia GPU (4090)
>AMD CPU (7800x3d)

Pretty much been my combo for the past 10+ years. I Got a 4090 when everyone told me I was a dumbass and to wait for the 5000 series and have been laughing my ass off ever since.

Waitfags are literally NEVER right
>>

>>
AMD but thinking about switching to NVIDIA just for genning purposes
had no issues in games tho
>>
>>724695232
AMD.

I now have a Radeon RX 9070 XT, which is an extremely good GPU.
>>
have only ever had one driver issue with AMD despite using various cards over the years. it was related to using two monitors with different refresh rates, it got fixed within a couple of weeks. literally zero issues otherwise.
meanwhile all my friends who use nvidia are having constant problems with dx12 and UE5 games. often times i can't play games with them uninterrupted without one of them having some issue.
>>
>>724698110
no one is a waitfag anymore ever since the crypto bullshit drove prices sky-high, they've never dropped so there's no fucking point in waiting, if you find a card that's good enough for what you want at a price you can afford then you have to go for it because even "old" or used cards are stupidly expensive
>>
>>724698351
It's the little shit like nonexistent hardware anti-aliasing if you wanna play older (DX9-and-under, OpenGL) games with some kind of forced AA, my Fury was the last AMD card I had, and the AA options in Crimson/Relive were just for show, and I needed to use RadeonPro to get the drivers to remember AA is a thing. Whereas Nvidia's like
>4x4+8xMSAA? SGSSAA? Sure, we can still do that shit

ATI/AMD was never great with AA though, with some of their official fixes being
>Just rename the .exe to Oblivion bro
for drivers randomly forgetting how to force AA, hence why smart people did barebones driver installs while letting ATI Tray Tools (and then RadeonPro) take over the rest
>>
>>724697257
it's no different to nvidia's support lifecycle. nvidia just claim to support longer with "security updates". the actual driver updates are the same 3-5 year window.

NV (on Linux). The drivers work but they WILL eventually piss you off.

what? I have the same card with no problems

Im jealous me and my brother have the same issues. I've talked to AMD and they scoffed at the idea their drivers were bad lol, they hit me with the "this was a common trope on forums a long time ago". guess what, good ol fresh factory driver install and she's good again.

from what I understand, AMD is easier to develop open source software for, even though AMD does it as an after thought. Nvidia will run on Linux, but you HAVE to use their proprietary software.

7900 XTX. Works like a charm but I do wish it supported fsr4
>>

it does? fsr4 is a software solution and you can get to work "unofficially" on older gpus just fine
>>
My last three cards:

555M (dogshit and died after 2 years of heavy use)
1050 TI (disappointing performance but whisper quiet)
1660 Super (pretty good but on its last legs)

I'll upgrade eventually but you can't help but get spooked by all the negative stories. If a good value 250-300 dollar Nvidia card came out with more than 8GB of VRAM I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I want to buy a new graphics card in next year with 12-16 GB ram, which one should I buy? Amd RX 7700 XT, RX 7800 XT or jewtel B580? RX 7900 XT is too costly for me and Geforce still doesn't have drivers for Linux. I actually use RX 570 and I have 30 fps in Expedition 33. My cpu is Ryzen 5 7500F btw.
>>
>>724703424
Just make sure to get one with sane power delivery configuration. No name chink brands tend to not doing it properly.
>>
>>724695306
>tfw 5080 has a 256bit bus
>vega had 2048bit bus
imagine a modern HMB gpu with a 2k bus. now that would be worth the cost. youll never see it because it would blow the bottom out of the Ai/Crypto market.
>>
>>724703627
RX 9070
>>
>>724703424
They're still too shit. You pay top dollar for roughly the same performance as an RX 6400.
>>
>>724703627
The cheaper, the worse value at mid range. 7800 xt.
>>
>>724695516
You should've downloaded the NimeZ drivers for that r9.
>>
>>724703704
more like top dollar for half the performance of a 1060 non Ti
get a fucking gpu poor fag. the $200 used market is fine for you food stampers. $600 will get you a gpu that can run every game on the market at 2k native. thats how good gpus are now.
>>
So when is AMD going to officially support FSR 4 on RDNA3? It clearly works.
>>
>>724704000
probably never, backporting features is the kind of thing that just doesn't get done.
you might get fsr4 on linux though as the drivers are community built.
>>
>>724703424
I've been wondering about this, what's the cheapest you can get that still functions as a regular PC.
I think getting a Pentium with integrated graphics will still be enough for everything other than triple A gaming. Meaning the cheapest Windows computers would cost around 300 to 400$. Best brand for this is likely Minix from China.
>>
I had AMD CPUs all of my life pretty much. Some old Athlon, then Phenom II x4 945, then Ryzen 1600, and now 5800X3D. Never had any complaints.

GPU right now is 4070 ti super. DLSS is just too good and FSR4 wasn't yet a thing when I looked for a new card.
>>
>>724695232
Using NVIDIA, was looking at AMD for my next one, now have no idea what to do because I loathe both companies.
>>
>>724704239
i guess you can always go for intel.
if you ever plan to move on linux go for amd.
nvidia is if you want to do cuda shit or love rtx.
>>
