Now that Indy has a new game, have Nathan Drake and Lara Croft become obsolete?
>>
>>724695964
We still need og lara croft, nowdays more than ever

>og lara croft
with milky titties and an attitude? Not gonna happen - Laura's a raging lesbian with daddy issues.
>>
Nathan Drake is obsolete with Tomb Raider 2013.
OG Tomb Raider could make a comeback but they'd have to gamble tens of millions on a sexy/sexist marketing campaign with some model posing in skimpy shorts.
The new Indy game is just first person shit with Troy Baker

It doesn't matter, it's still Indy. Tomb Raider and Uncharted were released to fill the void.
>>
I don't understand why publisher don't try to hop in the void these games left. Too high budget?
>>
>>724696257
I think there's simply not much to add, plus treasure hunting/archaeology/history fiction doesn't seem to attrack that much attention anymore.
>inb4 assassin's creed
how many copies did they sell again?

Pitfall would be a similarly themed legacy series that could be revived. It's been 20 years since anyone tried making a sequel

let kojima handle the remake kek

You could alway come up with some new tomb or some ancient civ as long as it's present we'll enough. It wouldn't even have to be open world like AssCreed or the TR reboots

They'd just make it another metroidvania.
>>
Great Circle was a completely different genre of game than nu-Croft or Uncharted

More people playing Tomb Raider right now, you lost Indy fag.
>>
>>724696047
>with milky titties and an attitude?

The original Lara Croft had a 90's edginess to her that is hard to recapture. She was much more bombastic, and mildly psychotic. The dual wielding pistols, the extreme acrobatics. Survival era Lara Croft was a different character.
>>
>>724695964
Indy's game manages to be worse than Uncharted and nuTomb Raider so no

c'mon...

it's interesting that games tend to abandon that trend. I think they even dropped it from Hitman. It's a pity, it was goofy as fuck.
>>
>>724698057
>No ones playing it cause it's new

Holy cope
>>
>>724695964
It's a good indiana jones adventure but old TR and uncharted games are way more fun to play. There's space for everybody, except nu-lara running around with a bow doing stealth shit and holding directions to climb, no fucking need for that slop.
>>
>>724698101
anon, it's a single-player game which costs quite a lot atm. I imagine the player count will grow considerably when it's eventually discounted. Otherwise, those who anxiously awaited its release already played it on release.

In the world of gaming, Lara Croft was one of the first characters that I can think of that wielded dual pistols. That game came out in 1996. It was a trope that I guess was carried over from Hong Kong gun-fu cinema as well as the old 'dual wielding six shooter' western tropes. First person shooters really picked up on the trend. Max Payne did because of its Hong Kong movie influence. Same with the Hitman games. I'm not sure when that trend really died down in gaming.

2010s, I presume.

I forgot that Contra III technically has dual wielding, and Rise of the Triad had it too. Lara Croft's primary weapons were dual pistols.

Yeah that sounds about right. I think Black Op's 6 has it?

It was on Game Pass before they fucked their service. That's how I played it.
