Am I missing something? The race wasn't that hard in the remake, I won by 10s once I figured out the handling, which took maybe 2 attempts

>>724696204I played most of the original game with keyboard + mouse on foot and controller while driving. The driving is a lot easier with analog input. The steering smoothing on keyboard is way too slow, which is tolerable in the slower cars but impossible to use in racecars and late game cars; you literally can't turn fast enough in some parts of the race track. I figured out about the direct raw input, so A and D would be the normal, smoothed steering and I set my left and right arrow keys to be the direct steering which instantly snapped left and right because it's a binary key press, so you can use them to make microadjustments. I then decided to start using my controller for driving because it felt jank/semi-cheating doing that.

I played the original and the remake. The original was really hard but you could still do it with practice but it was so bad they made a pc patch for it back in the early 2000s you could manually download from their website. The remake was just a normal mission lol not bad at all.
