>>724699449desu its actually fun... i feel like people who know how to play videos usually are the annoying ones since they dont listen because IM BETTER type shi 6767
When FFXI released on Xbox there was a big flood of newbies. I ran around in my fancy red mage artifact gear raising newbies right outside of town that tried to tangle with something too tough. Also spent a lot of time in the dunes raising and powerleveling. Had my own little flock of newbies I'd help out, teach them the game, show them where to go for their quests, stuff like that. I still think of a few of them sometimes. Hope you're doing well, Nubs. Ever since then I've always really liked helping newbies. Not just in vidya, but board/card games and training on the job. I like to help people learn and I've got all the patience in the world for someone learning the ropes. I delight in seeing the light turn on and them really dig in and enjoy things.

>>724699449You're allowed to say "fuck" on the internet, you pussy.
>>724699449Games are a pedagogic tool, trying to fill in for a literal teaching aid by stripping the game out the learning experience is ass backwards and backseating it would qualify as actual torture. If someone needs help to play a game, then they skipped a section, the game is bad or they're retarded.Dumping someone into the game midway through and needing to make up the missing learning curve is just indicative of your own fried dopamine receptors.
Why does OP keep asking stupid questions
>>724702036I think its pretty harsh to say a game that doesn't have a tutorial is just inherently bad and not worth playing. Chess doesn't teach you how to play the game, a friend or relative teaches you the rules and you go from there. Plenty of multiplayer games have terrible tutorials or expect you to have a base level of competence.
>>724702394A multiplayer game with any nuance really can't help but throw you in the deep end, because they're not built around learning curves unless the opposing player is the one trying to teach, but a single player game doesn't really have the same excuse if it's not intended to be a simulator that's complicated enough to require a manual. The fact that your actions are translated from inputs through game rules automatically in a videogame means that you should be able to quickly learn what does what just by seeing if your inputs do anything. Being dropped into a situation where the outcome of your inputs appears random or non-functional just leads to learned helplessness and quitting the game because it's just "too complicated".
>friend wants to play fallout>asks my favorite>tell them of the modern games, New Vegas is my favorite, but Fallout 3 or 4 are better for newcomers>they insist on playing New Vegas>ignores all the direction, keeps asking me where to go>I say "just follow the road east and the north">they don't understand and try walking in a straight line to New Vegas>too incompetent to even walk into cazadore territory, instead they're trying to skyim up the side of cliffs not realizing New Vegas has tons of invisible walls>keeps asking where to go>give up and go home after a while>next day they say they started 4 and it's much better

>>724699449>have you tried teaching complete video game noobs video games? what was it like?I remember the initial struggle of teaching my little bro the concept of moving with one stick and looking with another stick in console minecraft when he was small. He almost cried at the game. Nowadays he plays CS without any trouble.
>>724699449my cousin was a gamer poser back in the day. She even bought a playstation 2 but couldn't play any games in it. She'd literally have the videogame so me or her boyfriends would come over and she'd watch us play it.She'd have trouble just holding the left stick to walk straight. She was cute and sexy though. God i love women.
>>724703261>they/themCould've stopped there.
my friend and I tried teaching his retarded brother how to play dota so we could have a full stackdidn't work out, he would only play girl heroes and zoom into them as much as possible while imagining them naked
>>724699449>convince friend to play around with fighting games>hey how do you block in this game?>you hold back>WHAAT WHERES THE BLOCK BUTTON >=(>spend the next 40 mins struggling with a 3 hit jump in combosome concepts are just really foreign to people
>>724703549Brother is based, that's the only thing dota is good for.
>>724703261The average person can not exercise their radical freedom to be authentic and will instead conform to defaults or recommended actions to fit in. This grows to be especially bad when they are observed and perceive themselves as being judged, leading to them experiencing total decision paralysis and the inability to make a single authentic decision, something that is purely antithetical to a roleplaying game where authentic decisions are nominally the goal. Please understand that the average person was capable of being peer pressured into believing that anything with a superimposed laugh track was funny until society started judging laugh tracks and they were peer pressured into not being peer pressured.
My ex was a retarded person who didn't like video games where it was possibly to lose because she couldn't process emotions like that without spazzing out and tilting and yelling about it. Some people are just not built for even fake challenges.
I taught my ex-GF how to be good at mario kart 8 and she ended up being the second best player i know
I taught my Vietnam vet grandad how to play black ops 1 when I was younger and his main issue that we had to work for is that boomers don't seem to understand that someone can move and look at the same time.
Its hard, Jim.>Tried to teach my dad to play Medal of Honor and Call of Duty>Realized he lacks complete thumb coordination, so using a twin stick controller its really hard for him.>Its almost impossible for him to look around and shot at the same time, he pretty much has to move slowly and like he was using tank controls>Tried to teach a little kid to play games>He gets easely frustrated, might cry if things don't go his way, has no regard for personal property so he might attempt to damage my shit when teaching him to play.>Tried to teach a friend to play on PC>He has to look down at the keyboard every single time he tries to do something, he is never sure where things are, reactions are very slow.
My dad started playing 1943 when I was in high school on my old PS3, and had hit max rank by the time I came home for Christmas.
>>724699449I tried to get my ex to play games other than pokemon and animal crossing so I gave her fallout 3 since I thought it was retard proof. She just ran around attacking everyone she saw and dropped it before even leaving the vault.
>>724708070Dual analog is a retarded way to try to play FPS games and is both limiting and not intuitive, the only reason to use it is because you've imprinted on it and have an irrational fixation on it.Keyboard has the problem of not being immediately intuitive. The ideal control scheme is therefor a mouse and a more simplified ergonomic keyboard in the style of something like an arcade stick. While it may be tempting to say that holding half of a controller and a mouse in the other hand is somehow a good idea, that just wastes 2 fingers on holding a controller.
