No you don't.
W10 IOT LTSC Enterprise Edition 2021 is clean as fuck and enjoys updates all the way to 2032, if you must enable that trash.

Last but not least: LINUX is a thing.

But I'm a retard and I only so Linux is impossible to use and I love Fortnite
>>
>>724699782
Mint and Zorin are easier to use than fucking Wee11. And more secure + performant to boot.

>LINUX is a thing
A thing that's still a work in progress. Maybe another 5-10 years of Valve doing their thing will make gaming as good as on Windows, but it's just not there yet.

Linux already runs games better than Wontworks, kiddo.
>>
>>724700048
A couple of years ago it was barely the 1%. Linux doesn't even need to do anything, just let Microsoft kill themselves.

Games are requiring TPMs for now, you are fucked. Kernel level anti-cheat software tied to the tpm is pretty much the norm for all the big games in the future.
>>
>>724699609
I'm actually just fucking sick and tired of Nu-windows in general. Is there some kind of way to get something like a modern windows 7 or XP as your OS?
>>
>>724700128
Gee, someone should tell Valve, they're still investing millions trying to get Linux to be as good as Windows for gaming. They just just be throwing money away for no reason.

Why would I want to play a game that includes something like this?

The closest you'll get is Linux.

Linux got a very slight bump as the W10 EoL approached, then it dropped after people gave it a try and decided it wasn't good enough of a replacement
>>

>installing updates
>updates failed to install
>rinse and repeat

Is this the power of jeet coders?
>>
>>724700929
Linux plays every game perfectly, and for the games that it doesn't play perfectly you shouldn't want to play those anyway.
>>
>>724700965
Windows updates, for all of their problems, are unironically smoother than those of Linux. Especially rolling release distros like Arch and its derivatives, where the devs tell users to be prepared to try to troubleshoot and figure things out on their own.

Only when compared to the BLEEDING EDGE ones. The overwhelming majority of distros have far better updates than Windows
>>
>windows rolls out an update that breaks shit
>"heh, jeet coders, will they ever switch?"
>linux rolls out an update that breaks everything
>DOESN'T COUNT YOU SIGNED UP TO BETA TEST BY INSTALLING LINUX YOU'RE EXPECTED TO TROUBLESHOOT
>>

>Only when compared to the BLEEDING EDGE ones.
Which are the only ones you'd want to use for gaming, since all stable distros are stable precisely because they stay way behind in terms of updates, meaning you can't use the latest hardware and you won't be getting the latest mesa updates which are needed
>>
>>724699609
>giving in
This mentality is why they keep making tech worse. Stop accepting trash.

Honestly what freaks people out?
The only difference between Win10 and 11 that I have noticed so far is that on 10 I could keep my machine idle while it runs on 2.5GB RAM whereas 11 takes up around 4.

Is it because people have no idea about how to install windows correctly? I mean with an offline account, without pre-installed onedrive and the rest of MS bloat? You just unplug ethernet, set the region to "world" while installing and open a cli and enter a command to enable offline installation. Then it's smooth sailing. I've had 0 crashes and issues I couldn't solve since April and my Win10 PC still refuses to launch some games with easy anti cheat some times and I just need to keep launching the game till it does get past the splashscreen. It would also occasionally crash once a month for no reason while it's idle. Also I don't know if it's jewvidia or windows updates but I feel like performance has also been better recently with RTX enabled in games compared to back in April when I was checking everything obsessively after having built a new PC and found some games could've be running better at that time.
>>
>>724701193
I'm on a stable one and have no issues playing games. My hardware is like 3-5 years old though, and I mostly play 20 year old games, with the occasional one made this decade.

It was pretty funny when the Jayz2cents thing went down, linux evangelists blamed him for it because obviously it couldn't have been the fault of linux and he must have messed up his immutable distro somehow, then the literal lead dev of the distro he used admitted that linux was entirely at fault

Anon, the one GPU company that supports Linux announced they would stop supporting a 2 years old gen, LINUX IS NOT A THING.

Ok but can you play videogames on IOT? Because people at Reddit says you can't

amd drivers on linux are community built, funny story amd used to develop their own set of drivers for linux but eventually gave up to the superior open source ones. arch btw.

When is SteamOS coming out? It could be the only thing to save us at this point.
>>
>>724701854
I don't think you really understand how Linux works if you think SteamOS would make a noticeable difference. Valve have already stated that it's not meant to be a desktop replacement. You can use something like Bazzite to achieve what you probably believe SteamOS would be like, or any rolling release distro with Steam installed (be careful of this if you aren't comfortable with the idea of doing solo troubleshooting)
>>
>>724701854
steamos is made for one thing only and that's playing games on steam, it's not a desktop system.
it might be helpful to get a few console fags i guess.
>>
>>724702024
>Valve have already stated that it's not meant to be a desktop replacement.
they don't really have a choice, an actual desktop distribution is a lot more work and they'd have to compete with the entrentched distros that we already have on linux for decades.
>>
>>724701193
You don't need absolutely bleeding edge distros for gaming. Sure, mint and ub*ntu suck for that, but fedora and derivatives have a good balance of stability and up-to-dateness.
>>
>>724701547
Yes. The only games that won't work right away are ones tied to the MS store like forza, minecraft, xbox shit etc, but even then you can just download and install store and they'll work without much hassle.
>>
>>724702197
A hypothetical desktop SteamOS would accomplish nothing of note. People unfamiliar with Linux seem to think it would be some amazing revelation. It's going to be no different for gaming than just using any other distro and installing Steam.
>>
>>724702213
You're not really going to encounter any issues gaming on either Mint or Ubuntu. Even on a distro like Debian you can rely on flatpaks or just use Sid.
>>
>>724702213
Fedora is going the jeetware route of AI-assisted coding. Red Hat should be avoided anyway for similar reasons as Ubuntu
>>
>>724702660
>redhat should be avoided
good luck with that anon, they're everywhere in the linux stack, from the top in GNOME and GTK to the bottom in systemd.
>>
>>724701235
You don't notice a difference because have a low IQ. You're a retard, Anon. A normie NPC who was bred to consume and to be exploited like the cattle you are.

Anyone that shills W10 has no reason to shit on W11
Can't wait for faggots to suddenly cry about how W11 is clean as fuck and that you have no reason to update to W12. It WILL happen
>>

holy retard
>>
>>724702781
You can avoid them as much as possible, step one is to not use a distro like Fedora which they endorse and everyone knows they are directly involved in despite it being a """community project"""
>>

i'm gonna use fedora whether you like it or not buddy, why don't you like redhat anyways?
>>
>>724703892
Use it if you want, but it's well-known in the Linux community as a glowie distro.
>>
>>724703217
nah. plenty of people skipped vista. which is what windows 11 is.
>>

also 8.
surely windows 12 will be the new XP, 7 and 10
