I am stuck in this piece of shit of a game because I do not have explosive device to destoy a plot-critical wall to progress further, a finite resource that you are encouraged to use throughout the game as one of the means to open loot crates. At no point was it indicated that you should save them, before this mission or at all. Any sane dev would make sure such device is available in the same general location to prevent players from getting stuck but unfortunatelt this game was designed by fucking retards. I sank 70 hours into this.
lol
>>724702753You can by them for free doe. Idk I never had this issue since I had appropriate skills to open doors without explosives
>>724702753Where is that?
>>724702753Skill issue. Go back to fortnite little timmy
>>724702753how the fuck did you ever use enough explosives to not have any?
>>724704419chapter 4, machine cathedral - cant get the lift to work without fixing cogitators, cant get to one of cogitators without breaking a wall. ended up using cheat mod to spawn a charge for myself. this whole area is a nightmare of bullshit traps i have low % of disarming despite enemies being clearly level-appropriate.
>>724702753Install toybox and get yourself one.
>>724704641You don't need the lift to proceed. There is an alternate route.
>>724704491It's probably because you just randomly fail skill checks, and if you don't invest in demo you could waste a lot of bombs.I've also not run into OP's problem, but it's a class system and it does have a lot of retarded class walls as a result. If you realize you forgot a skill you have to wait for the class to say you can buy points in it. Want to use a weapon? Need to wait four levels for the feat. Bought a feat in a weak weapon type? Too bad, feat was spent.Class systems are... not tons of fun, frankly. They're supposed to be retard proof but are themselves pretty retarded.
>>724702753I'm very interested in playing this game, despite my limited knowledge of Warhammer 40k lore or Warhammer lore in general, as it seems right up my alley.I know very little of this game, which is good as I like going in blind, but know of its mechanics, like branching dialogue options and meaningful choices (that can affect the future of whole planets?) as well as interesting side-quests. Also heard you can lean deeply into cheos and corruption, which sounds cool for a run. I'm too unmotivated to play any games recently and won't even make the first step of pireting it (I'm a pirate, not by choice, deal with it). So I'm exited to give it a go but prolly won't for a while.I'm expecting Baldur's Gate 3 mixed with Dragon Age Origins. Am I correct in that assumption? Is there anything additional I need to know about the game prior to playing it?How familiar do you need to be with Warhammer lore? Is it as not required as Total Warhammer 2 or 3 (never played 3, but I assume it's the same formula)? Or does it really relies on previous knowledge of the lore to actually be effective in telling the story, and you'll miss important details if you're not in the know?
>>724708549Its far more closer to dao, than bg 3. I knew fuck all about 40k when i started playing it, but it does a good job of explaining stuff and it has codex like entries that explain shit further.40k and those warhammer games are not connected at all
>>724708549>Am I correct in that assumption?Eh. The combat is turn based and grid based, rather tactical, more so than those two. I guess it's a bit more similar to dao due to the overworld being just you travelling to different locations, rather than having to actually traverse entire maps to go to adjescent maps.>>724708549>How familiar do you need to be with Warhammer lore?I'm sure it would help, but the game has a pretty good codex with hyperlinks for many world-specific terms, so even during a conversation you can just quickly mouse over and read up a bit on the topic. I think the game does quite well in that regard.
>>724708549>I'm expecting Baldur's Gate 3 mixed with Dragon Age Origins. Am I correct in that assumption? It's more like Baldru's Gate 2 mixed with XCOM>Is there anything additional I need to know about the game prior to playing it?Don't play an operative for your first character>How familiar do you need to be with Warhammer lore? It's perfect for your first Warhammer game, most unfamiliar terms have tooltips that explain what most of the lingo used means. It really eases you into the setting.
>>724708549You don't need to know 40k lore to get into the game. It's just that if you go around making a lot of merciful and even-handed choices, you'll eventually be branded an apostate. Leniency leads to demons, and the game actually does a very good job of expressing this to you and making it clear what that means. You'll want to look up class guides before you really get started. You can respec for free once but then it starts costing you. The game's problem is it's a class system so it revolves around its own esoteric mechanics, you can't change tracks at all, and some classes are worse than others.Like you can still win if you choose a bad class, but I realized during my first playthrough I'd ruined a character by choosing the Bastion or whatever the defensive class is - they don't get tanky enough and it doesn't work. Strategic Genius or whatever was also a pretty dumb class, but I luckily put it on the Navigator so she bought her Navigator powers and not the class feats.Playing a "Heretic" is stupid. Just tie things to the railroad tracks and kick puppies every time. Don't stop doing it or you might not become evil enough. You'd think accepting a demon would be enough, but it isn't, you also need to be very, very stupid at all times. I guess you don't ascend to demon princehood by being rational. You'll have an Inquisitor in your party but weirdly he almost never cares if you go around licking demons or asking people to worship them. Same goes for the Sister of Battle - she seems bizarrely unbothered by it.
>>724707891The archetype system is absolutely not retardproof. There are archetypes that flow naturally better into a 2nd archetype but there are combinations that you better be planning from level one or be left with a serious deadweight character.
>>724709797No class system is truly retard proof. What these systems really do is create a single, optimal way to play your character, and systems like DnD are better at making that optimal play style feel intuitive. Rogue Trader is unfortunately less intuitive, so you can make a mistake early on and be trapped by it.
That Uralon fight in chapter 4 is such an insane difficulty spike, nothing so far has prepared me for this.
>>724710327It's the real final fight of the game. It's all downhill after that point. This section and Aurora are fucking bullshit. It's not even Uralon killing you, it's the Marines with heavy bolters.
>>724709983So respec?
>>724702753>game gives him 8 characters to customize with a dozen skills>he makes all of them jacks-of-all-tradesI need to sit down
I played through 99% of this legit but by the time I got to the Necron finale I was so worn out I just used toybox to insta-kill everything.
>>724702753>when old game does itWOW OLDKINO MAKES YOU THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES, IT DOESN'T HOLD YOUR HAND, NOT LIKE MODERN "GAMES">when modern game does itWHAT? WHY AREN'T THE DEVS HOLDING MY HAND? THIS GAME IS TRASH!!!
Played this on release, basically just gave Argenta infinite turns with 2 officers and she'd wipe most of the screen in 1-2 rounds. Every strike is a prayerHas it changed enough to warrant replaying? I couldn't imagine playing anything but officer, its the only fitting thematic class choice
>>724708762>Its far more closer to dao, than bg 3. I knew fuck all about 40k when i started playing it, but it does a good job of explaining stuffThat's helpful, thanks.>>724709363>The combat is turn based and grid based, rather tacticalSo more like XCOM's style of combat. Interesting.>the game has a pretty good codex with hyperlinks for many world-specific terms>I think the game does quite well in that regardGood to know as I'm a noob when it comes to Warhammer lore, and only viewed a couple of videos about the factions in 40k.>>724709504>It's more like Baldru's Gate 2 mixed with XCOMYeah, I got that feel from other anon's reply. Never played BG 2 though.>Don't play an operative for your first characterWhy though? I played first playthrough of VtM:B as a Malk and did just fine. Is it that kind of deal?>It really eases you into the settingThat's reassuring. Also said by other anons.>>724709689>Leniency leads to demonsI don't get this, is it a quirk of the morality system? I usually make the "best case scenario" coices in games, and try to always solve things diplomatically if possible.>You'll want to look up class guidesNope, that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.I want to go in blind even if I make some mistakes along the way.>I luckily put it on the Navigator so she bought her Navigator powers and not the class featsIt really eases you into the settingI've no idea what that means.>Playing a "Heretic" is stupidThat's a shame. I was looking for some evil doing in my playthrough.>You'll have an Inquisitor in your party but weirdly he almost never cares if you go around licking demons or asking people to worship them. Same goes for the Sister of Battle - she seems bizarrely unbothered by itSeems immersion-breaking, and catering to player choices at the cost of in-character interactions.Thank you all for responding and giving me huge insight into what to expect from the game. I'll surely get around to playing it.
>>724712120>Why though? I played first playthrough of VtM:B as a Malk and did just fine. Is it that kind of deal? No, the class is kinda mediocre if you don't know what you are doing and a good chunk of your companions are operatives already
>>724710468>It's the real final fight of the game. It's all downhill after that point. If they hadn't shown the Necrons in the teaser trailer, I would have believed the whole last Act was slapped together in the last minute to pad out the game.
>>724714998>the class is kinda mediocre if you don't know what you are doing and a good chunk of your companions are operatives alreadyI see I see. Thanks for the clarification.
>>724710327THIS FIGHT IS LEGITIMATELY DRIVING ME INSANE
