It depends on the game.If there are actual consequences for a game over, I'll still use the in-game save system.I configure Retroarch to auto save/load on exit/load, much like 3DS Virtual Console's suspend feature. I don't use it as a Mulligan if I screw up.That said, I might make use of the incremental save state feature (where new save states don't overwrite the same slot), if I end up soft locking myself in something like a randomizer and don't want to restart the entire run or if I lost way too much progress.

I prefer to just save and load normally, takes what, 5 second tops for something you'll only do once every half/one hour
