I've been seeing a lot of comments complaining about the difficulty of the games in this collection "even on easy mode". How it reads inputs, overrides throws, bosses are super cheap, etc. How many people bought this collection after having never played the original release of growing up with them? Lag input, OK. Shitty online with shitty audio? OK. These are valid. But why are people complaining about the AI being cheap when this is exactly what it was like in arcades on the Genesis and all the original releases?
>>724707096What they should have done is create an AI nerf hacks alongside the arcade games, so people can actually have fun with old Mortal Kombat titles.
>>724707096>But why are people complaining about the AI being cheap when this is exactly what it was like in arcades on the Genesis and all the original releases?Because they never played them.
>>724707275they can hack the CPU into a moving practice dummy, but they can't add brains to it. It's not an AI, it's reaction-based code. And I'm having a blast with it, because it's indeed everything how I remembered it. Yes, I grew up with these shitty games. What people also might forget is that MK didn't have something resembling gameplay until MK9 and even then you get zoner-hell Injustice games and broken DLC chars. Ed Boon are passion over mechanics and it always shows.
>>724707794*Ed Boon and team
>>724707275>so people can actually have fun with old Mortal Kombat titles. They were fun back and they are exactly as difficult as they were back then, too. They just need to fix the input lag and online issues. Also they need to find a way to bring back the MK4 in-engine cutscenes endings from the N64 version despite Nintendo. Don't know how they could do it, but it'd be nice.>>724707423I saw someone playing who was shocked and complaining that there was no training mode in the Genesis version of MK2. There never was a training mode in the Genesis version. I'm almost positive most people playing who have complaints like this haven't ever played their originals.
I want Mileena to take a big shit on my face
>>724707928>Also they need to find a way to bring back the MK4 in-engine cutscenes endings from the N64 versionWhy would you want that? The shitty CGI movies are more hilarious.
>>724707928stfu nintendo cuck no one cares about your shitty version
>>724708131I had fun watching them. They had their own shitty charm about them since the N64 couldn't do FMV and they still wanted to at least do the endings. Having both would be the best option.
>>724707928Just FYI, it's not a legitimate way to shut these complaints down that they never played the original. So what? Maybe they always wanted to check the originals out but there wasn't any real hassle free way to do it before. And fucking training mode missing is not acceptable just because the originals didn't have them, even the much complained about Capcom old game collections manage to add it on top of the original games, so it's actually fair to expect it.The truth is, that this collection is a lazy cash grab devoid of any trace of passion, and it should be called out and criticized for it.
>>724707928They should have a training mode anyway. It's 2025.
>>724709295I think it's valid depending on who you ask. If you wanted as close as possible to the original feel of what these games were like growing up and having it wrapped up in one collection, this is a great collection. Complaining about the games not being "modernized" is ridiculous especially for the people who consistently complain about games not needing to be "modernized" and how they should do a better job preserving what the experience was actually like in original releases. For MK fans like this, other than online or input lag, there is no reason to complain so hard about things like the CPU being too hard, no strings etc.I'm not saying the collection is great. I'm also not going to call it a lazy cash grab. It's basically a collection for old school fans of MK who grew up with the games and want to play the games as they remembered them being when they were younger. This collection did that pretty well. It does deserve critique, but it needs to be critique on the right things.
>>724707928The arcade MK4 one still uses ingame cutscenes for the endings, AGHRRIT included. Still seems to be poorly emulated.
Not sure why this shit is getting so many 8 scores on gaming websites
>>724711223People just like mortal kombat it seems
>>724707096>But why are people complaining about the AI being cheap when this is exactly what it was like in arcades on the Genesis and all the original releases?Because its not fun fighting against an AI thar bltlatanly cheats on you? Old MK has always been like that. People would tolerate that shitty AI because it was easy to cheese it. MK devs had a chance to polish old MK games, but all they did instead was to make shitty ports of every old MK game with all kinds of problems, in one package. Why? I can emulate MK on gameboy right now and more efficiently on my phone.
