The devs behind ARC Raiders are extremely talented. The game looks, sounds, runs, and feels incredible. It's truly polished in almost every area. The AI is smart and challenging. The overall design, lore, and aesthetic are unique and show real care. The launch was perfect.However, once you get past the presentation, the game starts to fall apart. The core loop is short and repetitive, even compared to other extraction shooters. The in-game events are kind of cool, but also lack depth. Loot is generic and cumbersome with its multi-layer recycle design, fetch quests feel extremely lazy and dated, and the skill tree doesn’t add much. The leveling and currency systems don’t create a real sense of progress. There’s no strong feeling of loss on death or reward on survival. It's more of the boring, same old stuff we've already been playing but without any of the depth.Because these things mean very little, it feels like there is also very little reward to killing other players. In a way this is a fresh and unique take compared to other extraction games. However this only plays to the toxicity of combat where there is more merit in killing for "fun" than any other purpose. I personally don't feel that satisfaction from killing anyone in this game, I just feel like I'm ruining someone else's experience by dropping in on them at an opportune time. It's very rarely ever fair of course, it is an extraction shooter after all, but I do plenty of fair killing in other PvP games to feel any satisfaction here. Instead, trying to help players is a refreshing and unique playstyle, but again, very little purpose or reward.

Played 5 hours with friends yesterday and we were laughing and shouting non stop. It was really fun. The fourth unlocked map on the mountains is absolutely packed with Arcs so it's a constant fight for survival. It's a beautiful map too. Reminds me of Arma 3 map.

Alright this is not too bad. The atmosphere feels like what Fallout 4 should have been. Very stressful to play. The world building and tutorialization is really solid. There’s also a real sense of camaraderie with your squad as you’re all working towards an actual objective. The loot part I don’t get, but maybe that’ll open up. I think the extraction gameplay loop needs work in the genre. The hook right now is sort of just, talking to people. The concept of extracting at multiple time points throughout the map doesn’t seem to really sit well, and then there’s the case of progression. MMOs figured this out years ago, but now we’re back at square one for shooters trying to figure out how to make loot meaningful. Arc is a really good stepping stone, but there are unfixed flaws in the genre right now that are going to keep players playing for years. People are only going to play this for a few months, and that’s fine.

I still don’t understand the genre. I’ve tried Delta Force and Raiders now, but it feels like there’s a core aspect of the games missing. There’s no point to the looting, it’s just circular gameplay. The majority of stuff I pick up I don’t care about, except when it’s a gun. Battle Royale you understand immediately. Extraction just never seems to click.

I refuse to play any PvPvE game out of principle,while they are always fun at first with random players working together against the NPC's, eventually the Meta ALWAYS devolves into just pure PvP where the non-player enemies become just minor nuisances at the most and most players spend all their time doing nothing but hunting down other players to kill

easiest extraction shooter yet, the amount of skill issue ITT is crazy. you can make an acceptable loadout for free indefinitely with the workbenches and chicken. I've extracted more times with randoms than my 1000+ hours in tarkov. I still think tarkov is the better game but this is a good direction if you cant compete with it in the gun autism department.
