Once you start getting your cyberware upgraded and a few major perks, you just become utterly invincible and the only way to make the game challenging again is to brick the balance and make enemies effectively kill you in a couple hits.It's amazing, I think they successfully incorporated the cyberpunk formula to a videogame. And by that I mean, you're not really there for the game itself, you're there for the aesthetic. The story is mid, the gameplay is mid, but you're supposed to just forgive that because the vibe is immaculate. And I think on most peoples' first playthroughs, they did. Repeat playthroughs people would likely be less forgiving.

For example, I have over 1000 hours of play in Fallout New Vegas and have never finished the main quest, never been to the 2nd battle of Hoover Dam, never got a slide-show. Just playing quest mods for infinite gameplay, actively avoiding the main quest. CP2077 wasn't that for me, which is too much to ask to begin with, but was engaging enough for me to play all the side-quests and then return to the main plot and finishing it. It was a passable to good game. I liked optimizing my acrobatics skills and installing chrome to be able to jump on all the roofs like a ninja. Apart for that, though, I cannot remember a single thing about the game (which is why I said passable) I remember joining with the nomads in the end, I vaguely remember a parade with a dragon in it I somewhat remember diving with that girl and only remember that cus I wanted to fuck her. Don't recall how any mechanics worked like hacking or my style of play at all, was I a guns guy? Stealth? Hacker? Blade guy? Idk. So it's not a "once in a lifetime experience" but a good enough game that'll keep your focus as long as you play it, and will leave no memories of it whatsoever after being done with it. That said, if it had quest mods or generally as active of a mod community as FNV I'd reinstall in a heart beat. It'll be interesting to see how quest mods' stories will be implemented into the game world and what creative ideas people can come up with. Afaik CDPR did release a mod framework to mod the game with but I'm not aware of any outstanding mods out there. Maybe I'm just out of the loop.
I've finished it twice. Once as a katana wielding psychopath with a sandevistan/berserk and another time as a netrunner with the Yinglong as my backup. It's not that good. The characters are dogshit. Too many characters I hate compared to characters I enjoyed.
