This series was peak edgy 2000s gaming and honestly as a kid the reason I bought a ps3. Why hasn’t Sony released any PC ports for this? I know it’s a dead franchise now but I remember it being popular at least in my circle when I was young.
>>724728919I always bummed that your standard projectile in 2 was just a little ki blast instead of the lightning bolts in 1. you unlock the lightning bolts eventually IIRC but they're much slower
>>724728919Porting PS3 games is more effort than it's worth when only 20 or so people will buy them.
>>724729096hey buddy, there’s at least 100 people who would buy an MGS4 port
>>724729205That's because MGS4 is part of a big, well known franchise.inFamous as a franchise lived and died in the span of about seven years, with the last game releasing over a decade ago.
>>724728919>Why hasn’t Sony released any PC ports for this?Because Bluepoint is busy with something else
>>724729001Yeah 2 did some things better and some things worse, I liked the redesign of Cole aside from the melee weapon though.>>724729096I’ve heard this. It’s also a bitch to emulate ps3 games (and supposedly these games are even worse to emulate), which I can do with my PC but I want to do it on my handheld…..
I hated how that PlayStation smash clone had two versions of this dude
>>724728919Is it just me, or am I the only one who prefer the tone of the first game? I still loved both games, but something about one's serious atmosphere put it above two.>>724729001I was bummed out that the fire rate for the missiles was reduced. Being able to spam them at the sky and then shooting a regular lighting bolt at a target to cause the homing affect was devastatingly epic.
>>724729589>It’s also a bitch to emulate ps3 games (and supposedly these games are even worse to emulate),I played them a few years back via RPCS3 with a 3070.They run fine, no crashes or anything. The biggest issue is that dust/smoke/particle effects are universally broken, and it's especially noticeable with smoke considering how much of it there is in the game.
is this worth playing outside of nostalgia? i always think about Crackdown when I see these games
>>724729863One did have a better setting, the bayou shit was cool but the dark grungy city was great for a dark superhero game. My favorite thing was rail grinding on the subway tracks.
>>7247300031&2 have an interesting story I guess
>>724728919The PS4 one is actually the superior game.Yeah the story was kinda trash but who cares about that?
Dull and boring game Prototype was way better
>>724729907Haven’t tried on my PC it’ll probably run fine framerate wise, on my legion go the frames were a bit laggy (more so on the first game than the second which I thought was weird) but I kept getting weird artifacting.
>>724730298
>>724730284It sucks. The open world is just>got to tower equivalent>blow it up>get every collectible labelled on the map>collect them all>repeatAnd the powers are just four powersets that play identically, except ALL of them have shit traversal (ignoring neon).
>>724729589>redesign of ColeThe only thing that get me was his voice. I prefer Jason Cottle. His gruffed voice adds so much to Cole's character. I also agree about the AMP being his main melee weapon when they could've brought back the gigawatt blades. >>724730003>is this worth playing outside of nostalgia? It's one of the best super powered games of all time. If you only played it once as a teen, then I highly recommend you play it again to appreciate it.
>>724730003They’re worth playing if you can handle them being a bit dated. Realistically they’re mostly fun because of the super powers. Story is kinda meh reads like a y2k graphic novel. The second one has a slightly better story and was actually received a bit better than the first.
>>724730298Have to disagree while I liked prototype enough I thought the gameplay was insanely repetitive and the story was boring as shit. Was mostly fun to hulk around the city.
>>724730543I actually forgot about the voice recasting yeah I remember liking 1s VA much better.
Are these playable on PS5? I don’t se why they don’t copy Nintendo and have a built in emulator
>>724731337There was something about PS3 hardware that makes it a nightmare to port games from itI don't remember exactly what it was but I think it was something about 1 and 2's climbing being dependent on PS3 hardward or something
>>724731337Probably harder to develop an emulator for the PS3 specifically and they leave open the option of selling you a $60 remaster down the line
>>724731786Oh yeah, it’s the PS3’s “cell architecture”, gimmicky ass shit
>>724731786It's the cell chip.
>>724728919The gameplay is dated as fuck
I only got this when PSN got hacked back in the day and they were giving it out for free along with a few other games. I think it was this and Wipeout HD. Both were so fun man.
>>724732374Same, I platinum'd both games
>>724730148>be middle school me>rail grinding in infamous caused your controller to violently vibrate>set my guy on the rails>put the controller on my weewee and daydream about my crushyep...it was a simpler time
>>724730298I prefer prototype's movement/combat/complete lack of anything resembling a morality system but infamous is a more well rounded game. Wish we had more of those types of game in general, but any superhero sandbox game made nowadays is bound to be based off some other intellectual property, and we can't have spiderman turning regular dudes into literal paste
>>724732821We need Hulk Ultimate Destruction in Unreal Engine 5
>>724732942Radical is dead, but sure. I just want a new superpowered sandbox game that doesn't have to engage in huge amounts of handholding.
Shame a real third game never happened. Shame Sucker Punch is stuck in Cinematic Ubislop Hell forever.
>>724728919I don't know I never really saw this game as great as some seem to think it was. Its a fun game and a fun playthrough but I don't see it as some sort of masterpiece I must go back to play.
>>724734135More than anything I think it’s less of a masterpiece and more of just an actually FUN game. Not trying too hard simply just fun and goofy a good game for the era.
>>724734337It was fun but not that fun. So many games I have liked I played more than just once. The ones I liked the most I have played a ton of times. But I never once got an urge to go back to this game.
>>724732374I got infamous and dead nation. never heard of infamous before but it seemed like the biggest "real" game in there so I wanted to get the most bang for my (no) buck. ended up really liking it, and then 2 came out shortly after. it's almost like... sony purposefully put infamous 1 on that list... to get people to try it and then buy 2 when it came out a few weeks later... no, they would never
>>724729778Sucker Punch requested there to be two Coles when the original idea for the game was there to be one and his moveset changes depending on player action>>724733778It was literally their choice and even they'll likely move from Ghost of now
>>724734605I ended up getting Infamous and LBP.And LBP was the much better game to me. I loved that game.
>>724729001I hated how the primary fire in 2 was so much weaker than in 1, and Evil was way worse than Good in the primary fire on top of it.
bump
>>724729001That vampire DLC changed the OG lightning bolt's firing speed to be much faster
>>724733778I don't know how Delsin's adventures would go after Second Son. I wanna see an alternate universe game that takes place after 2's Evil ending
>>724738690True the story got the most interesting at the end of 2 would’ve been great with some elaboration instead of whatever they did with second son
Half as long..
>>724730003The story is garbo and the gameplay is basically just a collectathon where you can’t go 20 meters without finding a Useless Fuckstick 53/250 and Marginal Dopanine 78/500 while you go from a "moral choice" to another where one is a sensible choice and the other comically evil yet expects to be taken seriously. Yeah sure try it.
>>724740947You mean you didn’t just go on GTA style rampages and murder people 24/7?
>>724741247When I was 11 I did that in Vice City but by the PS3 era I didn’t care for that.
>Okay, baldy, make your choice:>Save bitchy girlfriend and sacrifice innocents?>Or save innocents and sacrifice girlfriend?>Oh, and she dies no matter which one you pick, but if you try to save her she dies being mad at youIt's kind of wild how one of the forefathers of the "binary good and evil choices that ultimately don't matter because the writers are hacks" trope is looked on so nostalgically these days. Infamous was always mediocre discount superhero slop, and no amount of falling from grace Sucker Punch has gone through should retroactively change that.
They're not the best games in the world. The engine was janky and the writing was kinda corny. Was fun to be electric man though. I used to make levels in the infamous 2 UGC. Now I'm a game designer.
>>724744719There's literally a whole different ending in 2 depending on your choices
>>724744719>binary good and evil choices that ultimately don't matter because the writers are hacksredditers are still crying about this?
