It gets significantly easier once you get past the fourth level but before that its without a doubt to me the hardest game I ever played. Its so difficult it was exhausting trying to get through the levels. Besides this game though NES Ninja Gaiden is also quite difficult and I beat that game. No save states, rewinds or any of that nu-gamer approved bullshit.

Ninja Gaiden 2 is simply much harder than any of the DMC games on any difficulty. Its nothing to boast about either. It shows that NG2 wasn't properly balanced as it should have been. Itagaki left the company before its release.
