This game more than any other kart racer is super punishing in the last stretch if you haven't held the right items for the last lap or gotten lucky at the end to get what you need. If they make it where going into the last stretch without a defensive item isn’t practically a guaranteed last place you would absolutely see people picking a faster build over one that can give them a shield or one that can give a better chance of having the right items. They should nerf the cause of the problem rather than the response to it. However, the courses are designed where that will be almost impossible. I say all this as someone who doesn’t do any better when using level 4 boost and would benefit from it being nerfed.

What does the power stat do again? Reduce hit stun? Or the slow from getting hit? I know the power cars prevent you from losing rings when grinding the wall which is nice, they're my favorite for that and their decent speed and boost stats. But what about the actual stat bar?

You already know the two other routes (ignore damage before it hits you, or be immune by hoarding items until the end)
