Tencent (Chinese) bought a stake in them for 25% of several IPs and their stock is still falling pretty harshly. I don't even know what they could do to reverse course at this point because they can't just upend the AC games since it's their "main" brand, The Division is still successful, Rainbow Six is being run into the ground to my understanding, Skull & Bones is still getting updates somehow so that must at least have enough of a userbase across all platforms to justify it, and everything else they have flops immediately. It's like they're rudderless outside of AC and they messed up with how they handled Yasuke which massively and negatively affected them.

Even on the AC side they have Jade just sitting there not being released despite already being in a playable state and potentially 100 million or more spent on making it, the director who is in charge of stuff coming out after Shadows just left so we haven't even seen the damage he's done to the brand yet (He was the one pushing for AC Infinity/the Animus Hub and endless battle passes that carried over between games), Hexe is still apparently going forward with development, Black Flag Remake is still going forward, Shadows just got a roadmap out of nowhere so they're not giving up on it like it was rumored internally, and even Mirage is getting a major update in a week or two.

they did not break the mold on him. also funny how he gets 100% upstaged by reggie in every way, because reggie is just naturally entertaining, whereas woolie has created a persona based on niggerdom, despite being born on a shithole island. i honestly hate him the most out of all the fags from best friends, because he's the fakest of them all. matt still makes good videos, pat is so captured by his leftwing audience that he's one single "bridge moment" away from losing everything in one shot, and liam exists, i guess.

Niggers and trannies are just like hot chicks with big tits, icing on the cake. Nothing more. They don't make good games fail and they don't make dogshit games succeed. Unless we're talking about f2p live service trash, but as soon as players realize that the actual gameplay is bad they are going to abandon that as well.

Like >>724762665 said, Shadows as a game is completely fine if you like AC games. It massively improved the stealth gameplay, the map (While procgen everywhere) is gorgeous and well done in the hand crafted parts, and the castles are the best designed forts they've ever had in the entire series. It's significantly better than both Odyssey and Valhalla, its major blemish is how it's absurdly long (270 hours and I'm still trying to just clear everything, and only 40ish of those hours can be chalked up to fog of war clearing and contracts), slip and slides all over the map, and how Yasuke was misused as a character which is all Ubisoft's fault.

Yasuke in general is the best written character in the game. He even gets the main Templar story of the game. The thing is that he as a character should not have been a playable character because everything about him just introduces enormous problems historically, in terms of how no one wrote about him despite multiple characters saying they will and knowing how to read and write while also being in enormously high standing, and in terms of how he's going around doing anything without the Shinbakufu or Templars immediately attacking the hideout. That's also ignoring him being fluent in Japanese out of nowhere, he becomes a master of basically every piece of Japanese weaponry in apparently a few months according to the flashbacks, and he's known across all of Japan in the same amount of months yet no one's ever heard of his life like this in our modern history despite him literally being part of some of Japan's most major events and power struggles.

It's honestly baffling how poorly they handled everything because if Yasuke was a side character Naoe and Taka talk to to get intel instead of a playable character no one would have had an issue. It would just be focused on Naoe's fairly barebones revenge story and how good Taka's story (Who would likely inherit the Yasuke writing) would be.

>It massively improved the stealth gameplay
Which is my biggest gripe with the game. I picked up Shadows because i wanted a game that scratches my stealthy ninja shadowkiller fantasy. And it does that pretty well but to get that, i had to turn on guaranteed assassinations. Which makes sense, right, a slit throat or blade between the ribs should kill any human. But Naoes progression system is built around assassination damage. Which is irrelevant now.

So i was running around as Naoe, with a good dozen skill points unused because there was nothing to put them in. No interest in fighting, no interest in different weapon types, no interest in ranged abilities. All i want is my ninjato, my tanto and my ass in the shadows waiting for the guard to turn around.

The game just doesn't support a real stealth approach. The idea with the underwater breathing reed is really good but there needs to be more of that to put points into. Poisons, a blowgun with different types of darts, guards now can actually hear so you need quieter movement, assassinations making noise so you have to invest points into a quieter technique(covering the mouth, piercing the lungs etc.), climbing up walls and hanging from the rafters to drip poison down.

>i had to turn on guaranteed assassinations. Which makes sense, right, a slit throat or blade between the ribs should kill any human.
The game is far better balanced than Odyssey or Valhalla so it doesn't make sense to turn it on, no. Being able to turn it on means you're also playing on the baby difficulties which you also shouldn't be with Shadows, you should absolutely be defaulting to Nightmare for both combat and stealth difficulties.

There's very few 4+ bar enemies in the game and you only really see them in Kii unless they're late game targets, you can immediately get to 4 bar removals in very little time because one of the earliest "Path of" locations has an Epic hat that comes guaranteed with 1 bar of Assassination which applies to every assassination type, it actually makes you spec into specific engravings to help kill 6/7 bar enemies, and it actively forces you to approach enemies in different ways if you can't kill them just with an assassination or aerial assassination like Rush Assassinations. This isn't the game to turn Guaranteed Assassinations on like Valhalla was.
>guards now can actually hear so you need quieter movement
That is literally what Nightmare difficulty introduces. Just look at webm related for how they can see you. You have to either learn the quirks to move at full speed towards people to even get close enough to assassinate them, groups don't allow you to assassinate them without being heard, they hear basically every thrown item, tools are significantly more valuable, and unless the AI itself breaks you will nearly always be detected with certain kills near people. It's why the silent walking engraving for Naoe is so broken and how it's an insta-slot because it breaks the AI and stealth in your favor and you can even stand near people.

>multiple health bars
That's not the game that i want tho. Just giving an enemy more life and making them hit harder is a terrible, absolute dogshit and lazy way of increasing the difficulty, especially for a game where everybody is human.

We know how humans work, we know that traumatic damage to the vitals kills us and a game, that is trying to appear as real as it can, telling me otherwise is trying to have it both ways. Make enemies more perceptive, which is already a stretch because anyone whos ever worn a full face covering helmet knows that you can barely hear shit and have a very limited field of view, but that is still better than watching Naoe sink her blade into the neck of a person and them just shrugging it off.

What i want from Naoes progression system is more than just damage and health, more than just better numbers. Make her actually learn interesting shit. Disguises, background intel on targets, languages or deciphering code, social engineering, mannerisms. Like actual feudal spy shit.
>>
>>724767036
>Just giving an enemy more life and making them hit harder is a terrible
They have the exact same health across all difficulties, all that changes is damage dealt and taken by enemies with Nightmare difficulty. They have the same 5 bars on Easy as the do Nightmare. On the lower difficulties katanas and tantos kill in seconds, on Nightmare they deal damage but not much with tantos dealing chip damage unless you get crits. They also go for way more unblockables and the parry time is heavily reduced. Nightmare difficulty also heavily reinforces that Naoe is the weak character who takes a minute to kill a single high tier enemy while exploiting them with Daze unless she procs crits or specific engravings and Yasuke is the guy who kills 5+ bar enemies in like two hits because he's a walking tank.
>Make her actually learn interesting shit. Disguises, background intel on targets, languages or deciphering code, social engineering, mannerisms. Like actual feudal spy shit.
You're asking for stuff the series isn't even remotely close to being. It's not Hitman. As it is the skill trees are pretty varied because outside of the damage passives you get passive buffs that change how attacks even work like the dodges on the tanto, or the instant posture on the kanabo I think it was alongside 2-3 active abilities. Then there's the Shinobi tree which gives you tools and buffs for said tools while the Assassin tree unlocks new assassination types and buffs to your assassinations and knock outs.

You want what the series isn't.

And now filter all the talents and abilities that are actively combat related. What are you left with? Keep in mind i wanted a stealth ninja game. The genre heavily implies that combat is not an option. Study your target, wait for the right moment, strike and vanish like you never been there. Now what are you left with in terms of progression? The underwater breathing reed.
>>
>>724767610
You have the entire Tools tree which is smoke bombs (Escape + free assassinations), Shinobi Bells (Lures), shuriken (Free civilian kills without wasting kunai + quite ways of destroying light sources), and the kunai (Ranged assassinations).
You have damage buffs for the kunai to allow you to kill higher tier enemies.
You have the time slow ability in the Shinobi tree which is so broken I shouldn't even need to explain why getting 8+ kills without enemies even noticing you is broken let alone it letting you run unabated across the map without being detected, or, at best, noticed but not alerted.
You have the reed.
You have the vaulting which you can do as a means of escaping.
>The genre heavily implies that combat is not an option. Study your target, wait for the right moment, strike and vanish like you never been there.
Sure, and the game itself encourages that type of gameplay too with prone, the new lighting system, the fact that enemies on Nightmare actually notice you like real people do, enemies that are far more paranoid when they see a death or don't know why there's a dead body, etc. Again, the version of Assassin's Creed you are looking for simply isn't what AC is as a whole. You want investigation and planning which it isn't. There will always be broken methods to kill enemies and sneak around in every game, that's simply how the series is. Mirage had teleportation across the map that didn't even get you noticed if Basim stabbed a guy in front of an entire group.

Pretty cool game for the first 30 or so hours, but it does get repetitive, yeah.
But they really cooked hard with the engine update, especially the ray-traced GI.

>>724767818
It's been a good 6 months since i played the game, and i didn't play very much in the first place. But scrolling down the skill tree of the wiki there is just jack shit that supports the playstyle i want.

>study the target
>choose the right approach
>execute and leave like i never been there

From what i remember the mission that i liked the most was the one with the tea ceremony. Had to buy the right dress, perform the right gestures and lie convincingly to figure out the target. I don't know how much of that is in the game but i wanted a progression system that supports exactly that. The reed, the bell, kunai assassinations are good but i want a whole skill tree that is just that. Intel, disguises, subterfuge in general. Then a skill tree that is about stealth. So assassination techniques and equipment like poisons, climbing and movement styles. Avoiding the view of a guard should be trivial, especially at night. But walking or even just going prone on gravel should be suicide, just like any kind of open combat. Especially indoors. And another skill tree that is all social. Different dialects, culture and mannerisms of different regions. Like the tea ceremony. That was my shit. Like climbing a hill overlooking a fort and seeing 4 guards in the court yard should be an instant red flag. Can't do, never. Not "well, i can just double assassinate two of them from the nearby tree, drop a smoke bomb and kill the other 2 easy and if all fails just parry/dodge a couple strikes, counter attack them and move on", that shouldn't even be in the game.
>>
>>724770169
>perform the right gestures and lie convincingly to figure out the target
The entire thing was automated, unless Canon mode automates it. The target itself doesn't need to be lied to, you just do basic introductions and Naoe has no idea who it is. She just makes a guess and the guess is right and the game outright shows you she's the Shinbakufu member even though you have no reason to believe she is yet.
>but i want a whole skill tree that is just that. Intel, disguises, subterfuge in general.
How do you even expect this to work at all in actual gameplay? What you are describing is Assassin's Creed Liberation which required you to go to a specific area to even change your Persona and it was never worth being Slave or Lady because the former couldn't do anything without racking up notoriety and the latter couldn't parkour so you just stayed in Assassin with a permanent tier-1 wanted level. The same would happen here if such a system existed.
>But walking or even just going prone on gravel should be suicide, just like any kind of open combat.
Again, Nightmare difficulty combat and stealth.
Nightmare combat means enemies kill you in about three hits as long as your equipment is within 3ish levels of the enemy you are fighting, otherwise you get two to three-tapped if you're 10ish levels off, and two-tapped due to a "Can't be one-shot" system past that.
Nightmare stealth means enemies see you on rooftops, snow and gravel make enemies notice you earlier, unless you are fully covered by darkness you are never hidden, enemies actively investigate any basic sounds they hear like you breaking torches or bamboo walls, they actively go to rooms where lights are extinguished to light them again, they notice you as you are crouch walking up to them to stab them, and so on. You can still abuse their AI by running around a corner and going to a roof, or just using roofs in general, and sometimes small patches of grass do this, but that's about as bad as it gets.

Looks like it does. I remember failing the ceremony a couple times because i thought it was on rails.

>How do you even expect this to work at all in actual gameplay?
Remember AC1 how you had to work your way to your target? Something like that, just more fleshed out. Squeezing lowlife for info, trailing the guy that has the schedule of the target, observing, obtaining a disguise, waiting for the opportunity, in and out in a flash. Open combat would be a thing and you can take on a couple untrained thugs but facing more than one proper city guard would be suicide.

>Again, Nightmare difficulty combat and stealth.
Is it bullshit perception or reasonable? Like can they detect you from miles away at night because they saw your head peek a dark corner for a second? And is the progression system supporting that playstyle or are the guards always able to spot you no matter how you spend your points? Because that was my issue. I looked at the way i played the game and scrolled down the skill trees and saw nothing that i would want to spec into.
>>
>>724772148
>Something like that, just more fleshed out. Squeezing lowlife for info, trailing the guy that has the schedule of the target, observing, obtaining a disguise, waiting for the opportunity, in and out in a flash.
This is something every single nuAC game does. You don't even get to actually go after your target until 2-4 recon missions are done and then you finally do your assassination mission. The Naginata doesn't even actually let you attack the castle until you speak to multiple people and help them out so they can secure your way into the castle.
>Like can they detect you from miles away at night because they saw your head peek a dark corner for a second?
No, you can still be in dark areas and they won't notice you from far away, and if you hug dark areas they won't notice you at all.
> is the progression system supporting that playstyle or are the guards always able to spot you no matter how you spend your points?
None of your points can improve your power of hiding, the points go towards tools and assassination damage or things like Rush Assassinate to aid in your kills.
>saw nothing that i would want to spec into
You put into the health bar removal because you don't play with guaranteed assassinations for both the kunai and Hidden Blade, you put into knock out because you sometimes need to move 1 HP bar guards or civvies instead of using a shuriken on the civvies, and you put into various Kusarigama and Tanto skills when you inevitably do get into a fight like the knock down or multi-slash on the kusa (To apply daze because you should only use a daze kusa) or the tanto throw (To take advantage of the engraving that instantly removes two bars) and the forced dodges.
