We discuss our favourite games, plain and simple. Don’t be shy now. Keep it on topic.
>>724757936
I don't think I have a favorite game. The game that comes to mind as most intriguing and immersed i was in it is probably Pathlogic 2 though, but ive certainly played better games
>>724758706Good choice, I heard it was pretty neat. I’ll probably try it out someday. But I don’t know about myself really - since I’ve played far better games than Wet, but it’s my go-to game whenever I’m bored. I’m not sure exactly how it rose up to be my favourite game, but it’s something that I enjoy, especially since I can tell the team behind this had a great time making it, it’s packed with soul. The writing is barely passable, but not annoying. It’s got a most wonderful soundtrack and style too, the gameplay ain’t bad either. It confuses me why I love it so much, yet I enjoy it either way, flaws and all.
>>724757936I loved this game too, its definitely not my favourite but it was really special. Is it playable on PC in current year?
>>724759724You’ll have to emulate it, but on RPCS3, I have a 3050 and it’s stable on 60 FPS. Dunno about Xenia.
>>724759906Thank you.
>>724757936Man I wish this thing was on pc. I remember the full game being ok, but played the demo a thousand times at least.
>>724757936Not particular order:Galaxy 1 and 2Gears 2StarCraft MuramasaOkamiWind wakerResident evil 1 2 3 Silent hill 1Bad company 1 and 2
Gaming for me has just been chasing the same high since
>>724760157You sir are a man of good taste. Finished this a few months ago and it's one of the rare games that actually leave me good afterglow when finishing it. Proof what good music can do when combined with great gameplay.
>>724757936always wanted to play this cause i had fun playing the demo decades ago
>>724760000No problem man, happy gaming.

>>724757936I hate my favorite game because the fan base is insufferable, and most of them only like it because of anime. I hate anime... or rather, I hate modern anime. So no, I refuse to talk about it.
>>724765284Nah it’s alright, what is it?

My stepdad got this for me when I was a kid and I played the shit out of it.Played it again as an adult and it still holds up. I never realized as a kid how metal it was. You go out on a longboat with your dad and his men to face the enemy but they sink your ship with dark magic, killing your dad and all his men in the process. You sink to the bottom of the ocean, find the entrance to Hel and fight your way back to the surface to get your revenge.
Farcry 2
>>724768506Yeah, it's a flawed gem. Gameplay was great and it was really satisfying setting up ambushes on convoys. Also the healing animations were cool. The sped up voice acting and constantly repairing the jeeps were ass though. Also I don't think malaria did anything besides annoy you.

>>724757936FUN FACT: The devs of Wet wanted to make a sequel to the game where you played as a man and instead of being called "Wet" it would have been called "Hard".Unfortunately this erection joke never happened because Wet wasn't financially successful enough to warrant a sequel.
>>724767429>all those fake GTA 6 covers throughout the years>me, being the intelligent video game connoisseur that I am instantly knowing they're fake because they usually forget to put the obligatory helicopter in the top left corner of the cover art
i can't single out one game but here are mine (in no order):spaceward ho!so incredibly addictive that it has been banned from my computer, lest i play it non-stop for 8-10 hours at a time. i still have no idea why someone just hasn't updated the graphics and placed it on steam as "crack cocaine: the game."
>>724763204he is one you ape and you should aspire to be like him too
>>724757936The game is brimming with atmosphere and a bunch of little touches in addition to a refined core and a great story that makes it an absolute gem. Other than >>724769302 (which is an entirely different type of game) and the OG Nier, I haven't found a game quite like it. I don't bother much with playing other games nowadays outside of emulation since no one really makes games like this. Hopefully Stellar Blade 2 makes me reconsider this lol.
>>724771865Haha kek, pretty funny anon. But I wouldn’t have minded a WET 2, and I was digging the whole Mexican grindhouse vibe they had going for it, I guessed the plot from the theme they already had published on YouTube, alongside some insider info. It’s a lot to publish here though. But it would’ve been quite the game.
>>724757936this game has a banging main menu themehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvqoPg4i9w4really a shame we never got the sequel

>>724777815You realize that games in development can go through multiple iterations and have different names as people plan it out right? The sequel being called Wet 2 at some point and Hard at some point can both be true.
>>724778490>You realize that games in development can go through multiple iterations and have different names as people plan it out right?i do>The sequel being called Wet 2 at some point and Hard at some point can both be true.perhaps soim sticking to what is actually known and not what some random anon said on /v/there has been more than one ocassion when someone wrote some disinformation just for 5 minutes of attention
>>724777815Ah, he’s just joshing anon, don’t get too excited. But, reports that came out about what WET 2 would’ve looked like is that we would’ve gotten two separate campaigns that each challenged an aspect of Rubi’s character while picking up plot threads from the last game, (along also with backstory, revealing that she had an abusive father, before killing him, which is why she became the way she is) alongside literally doubling down on the grind-house aesthetic as reported in the “What Happened” video. There was reportedly a “stealth” mode from a most likely fake claim, which involved Rubi using her “feminine wiles”. And a prototype was made of it, before becoming canned. Shit, this game could’ve been awesome.
>>724778004whydoyoutypelikethis
>>724757936I have 100%ed it three times.
>WET>that John Woo game>Max Payne how are these games literally the only ones in this genre.
>>724779784Good choice, I’ve been trying to get into it these past couple days.
>>724757936Devil May Cry 3. I've been playing it since release and never stopped. I followed the True Style Tournament scene back in the day. I have even spoken to and befriended some of the god DMC3 players. I also become very proficient with the game myself and there was a period during the later years where I was deemed the best active player. Every single week I think about this game, like, I literally can't stop thinking about it. I know all the bottom of the iceberg tech. I think about how the only game to surpass DMC is DMC itself and how no one even cares about pushing the genre to the next level. The only game worthy of being compared to DMC is its sister - Bayonetta - since it was born as a rival to DMC unlike games like Ninja Gaiden which the NG community always tries to push DMC as being its rival. In reality only MGR can be compared to Ninja Gaiden. Also, I enjoy all character action games. Ninja Gaiden, God Hand, ViewtifulJoe, Bayonetta, etc. I'm not some DMC-only enjoyer.

>>724767707Yeah, it's pretty good. I have a similar affinity for pic rel. Technically not great, but there's something about it. Also, the VSIM controller system was flawed but very ambitious for its time.
>>724757936This game, a 12 pack of mountain dew, and being 10 years old again having a sleepover at my buddy's house. The things I would do to relive it.
>>724784118the original WET team likely doesnt work there anymore eithermodern gaming is really depressing in that regard once you get to know that many fan favourite studios no longer house most of the same teams or people that made them great or inspiringall legacy studios cynically hide behind a logo as if nothing has changednot specifically commenting about artificial mind and movement here
>>724785135you’ll get there soon or later on
>>724787493Yeah. I even sent a message to the writer about what was the second game’s story going to be like, Duppy Demetrius was his name. Never got a reply back, though.

>>724782106Supremely based. Fully S-ranked DMC1 back in the day, almost fully S ranked DMC 5 and now I'm thinking if it's worth it to S-rank DMC 3 and 4 after having had already spend a ton of time on them way back

>>724790274Die is very easy to navigate but the real reason it's gonna suck is because they make you get all of the le hecking orborinos
>>724757936I wouldn't say wet was an all time favorite, but it really deserved a sequel that polished off some of the rough edges. It had a lot of great stuff in it, the levels where everything went monochrome and it just became a test to see how stylishly you could murder a ton of dudes. An the guns-akimbo vanquish slow-mo gameplay was fun as fuck. Good gritty pulp aesthetic, and a great rockabilly soundtrack that fits the game perfectly. I also sank dozens and dozens of hours just into the demo alone.
This is a personal 10/10.The remake is good too but this one is just perfection.
>>724757936I'd make her pussy wet by licking it with my tongue if you know what I'm getting at
>>724757936This game perosnifies 2000's era of flash platformers. The soundtrack, the gameplay, the art direction, level design, atmosphere, subtlety in story-telling, everything. It's like a love letter to newgrounds community. To me it is an unofficial Madness Combat game. Too bad the sequel took the "metroidvania" slop bait
>>724790609My personal 10/10 shits all over your personal 10/10 and anyone who says otherwise is a retard. Just kidding anon, though RE4 never really did it for me. Of course, DS wouldn't exist with it.
>>724757936I dont have a single favorite but I guess probably Half-Life 1 Quake and Doom. They are just endlessly playable and timeless with tons of great custom user content.
>>724791286LolLmao, evenI think that you have excellent taste my dude. Dead Space is also one of my all time favorites.
>>724791245it’s hard not to understand, but same my niggaroni
>>724791286>>724791662Im the opposite, I think Dead Space is pretty much a westernized mediocre ripoff of RE4 for xboxtards thats only good for 1 playthrough. and RE4 is a timeless masterpiece that will be fun for a million years.
>>724790508>it really deserved a sequel that polished off some of the rough edges.it really doesits a shame it didntmost of the long standing franchises of today started out with a flawed entry to later get refinedtoo bad most suits in this biz are to cowardly to acknowledge thats how you build a franchise that endures over decades and rather want to bankroll sterile pretty soulless sludge with instant payouts>I also sank dozens and dozens of hours just into the demo alone.i managed to platinum it - probably one of the most fun plats i had the time progressing towards
>>724757936By hours played gotta be Diablo 2
>>724791662I wish EA would do something with the franchise. 2 was pretty good but in many ways took it in a direction I didn't much care for. 3 had some cool moments but doubled down on all the bad. The remake was better than I ever expected but for me it was always be the OG.
>>724791919>1 playthroughI replay it every year, it never stops being fun.
>>724791952managed to 100% it on my old 360, and on my pc with RPCS3. What I love most about it is that at the end of the day, it’s just trying to be a fun stylish game, pure and simple. It’s not trying to be high art, but it just wants to be fun; and it succeeds in doing so. also Rubi is hot, 100%
>>724767429Based taste. I still need to play KOTOR.
>>724792831>also Rubi is hot, 100%Rubi is probably one of the last actually good looking female leads we received and saw in video gamesshes not overtly butch looking nor stripped off of her femininityher design maintains a good look while also cool in a tough kind of way - not like that feminism fuelled girlboss shit weve seen in the past few yearsher character design was genuine and organically made
>>724793358it was truly a different time, and despite what people might say, she’s written in a neat way, albeit in a morally gray manner whereas in 2009, people were used to shit like Master Chief, Captain Price, other normie shit like that where they worked for the common good, on the other hand, Rubi just works for a pay check and rarely shows sympathy, except for that one retarded kid that betrays her. DAMN IT ANON I’M MAD ALL OVER AGAIN
All I need is a PC that can run this and I'll be happy.
My forever and always. I didn't have a lot of games as a kid and was behind generations most of the time, but this game still holds up in my heart. I have the DS remake too, even if I haven't replayed it as much as the original. Just a timeless classic to me.

>>724757936idk it's honestly hard to pick just a single game as my all time favorite. But since you posted a forgotten gem, I will also do so and name my all time favorite horror game.I think the main reason why I love it so much is because I went in with low expectations (thought it would be another run of the mill indie horror game) but I think its even better than Amnesia the Dark Descent.
>>724757936I played the demo for this and it was incredible, full game was mediocre desuThe demo was non-stop action, obviously if the full game was like that it'd be like 5 hours long but it just felt way too slow
>>724813508>BABY YOU’RE DRIVING ME INSANE, INSAAAAANEbut then again it was undercooked, it was supposed to have more time in the oven but Bethesda forced them to release it later that September. Wonder what we could’ve gotten if it had more time.
>>724757936Hard to pick a single one, but I think I gotta go with the childhood favorite that still keeps getting content. I don't play online, but it's got a great formula that can be used to create a lot of singleplayer content. I played a lot of Age of Mythology and Age of Empires III as a kid and enjoyed them too, but it's just hard to argue with the technical perfection that is AoE II.

>>724842256I don’t watch a lot of movies, but I’m drawing a blank here. Any ideas from your end?
My favorite is split between Super Metroid and Quake 1. I consider both to be the quintessential example of what a video game is, like if someone had never seen a video game before, what you'd show them to illustrate the point. Both of them have incredibly solid gameplay mechanics, are dripping with atmosphere, have incredibly great sound design, yet neither are so complex as to be ungraspable by the average person. They have lively modding scenes, active communities, and both could be considered to be the birthplace of speedrunning (Despite past speedrunning being so far removed from the """community""" it is today). These are games that will still be played and talked about 50 years later after their release, and games will still be drawing their design notes from them.
>>724826468Your taste is very similar to mine objectively, but being so close yet so far with picks like OoT over ALttP make me rage. This is limited to one per series btw
