coordinates radar communication error
need to repair the new radar towers with new fuses they cost 100 per, you HAVE to repair them manually Omega can't do it.
ATV now requires a battery and new wheels when damaged 100 per
Now you have to juggle floppy, zip, tape machines, AND triangulation?!.
The wall of text tutorial doesn't even tell you how this stuff works, and even if it did, there's so much crap to juggle you'll never get any free time to explore for paranormal shit.
He did relegate the non-canon game ending spooks to the funny menu, so that was nice.

I couldn't find time to do anything so I just built a crypto miner and told Bao to sod off. Day 15 and I still haven't turned in a single signal, and with the return on my crypto I don't have much incentive to anyway. It pays more to strip the copper wiring from the base than to actually do any work.
>>
>>724767353
I think people are bitching and moaning because they are still in the early game where you are supposed to not have time for everything.
What I personally worry about is if im diligent with tasks every day I will advance the story too fast before managing to clean up the base. This is my first time playing it so I dont know.

> Bao: OKAY SO I WANT FIVE SIGNALS. EVERY SINGLE DAY.

It's here I focused on only doing hashes and cleaning. Fucks sake. I do think there is a larger point where Nose forgot to take some things in to account. Didn't he nerf signals needed per day BEFORE precisely because it wasn't reasonable?
>>
in the tutorial you can just bring the other cursors to the main one with the numbers keys to triangulate signals but I don't see the upgrades for that. Please don't tell me it has something to do with the bolted panel on the back of the console
>>

>>
>>724773414
>>724773581
I think one flaw in Nose's plan here is, I assume, the old system basically locked the signal in from the first press. You're just waiting to learn if RNG favored you or not. Now the entire anim has to play out BEFORE the signal expires before it grabs it. Between having to move every node and the anim, that's more opportunity for a signal to just.. vanish.
>>
>>724773070
feel its safe to say that the pre-base-update era of the game was undeniably lightning in a bottle.
everything that was done right has been horrifically mangled to near unrecognizability, and everything done wrong has only been made ten times worse.
not to mention the continual performance degradation. surprised that the game's not impossible to play even with volumetric lighting off.

All the new systems feel a bit timesinky in a vaguely survival game where you're always slowly starving to death / falling asleep. I remember the new player experience already being a bit rough and that was many versions ago. Fucking with an game object you don't understand using a control system you're struggling with can use a lot of IRL time. Running ok so far on my potato, though.

I think most of this opinion is just people being salty.

But Nose has certainly tripped over his own face in violating the basic gameplay loop. Most people aren't going to be wiki hunting or doing all the stuff you can only know about via the discord. They're going to be interacting with the basics. Not earning money through weird gameplay loopholes either. Nor will people be mailing themselves 10k points worth of stuff from iterative saves piling up.

Signals being the WORST way to progress is a bad look and a bad feel. Particularly cause there's still stuff tied to doing them even if you can earn points better ways.

I dunno niggers. To me the update seems like a great addition. The only bad part is having a shit explanation for everything. I think anons are just crying because they have played the game multiple times already and have no sense of novelty in general.
Half the game is spoopy shit and the other half is cleaning up and personalizing your base. Both things are helped or extended in this update. You are now made to do more of the thing that is the core of the game rather than just sitting in the base permenantly and waiting for new signal. I mean, yeah, more signals better but what has been added improves on the other mechanics.

I found some chained doors to what looks like a second basement under some crates by the ATM, but nothing Ive tried has busted them, as well as an out of place panel in the basement behind some crates that you can knock down, then break the wall behind it to another section with stairs, a pool of water and a fuckload of coal blobs, it doesnt seem to connect to the first one either

He didn't add more signals though, he just lengthened the process to get the ones we already have. Hell for how long the tutorial it doesn't even explain how the new tasks work, it just tells you, you'll figure it out when you play the main game? Then there's the increased costs for everything, fuses, tires, modules, that you now have to manually unscrew the system to add, the atv now has a second fuel gauge for power. Has Nose never heard of an alternator before? This game has messed up, because when I see the anti-breather at night my first thought was "This is gonna cut into my profits".

Long as shit, and basically needed if you want to pull off the days tasks. You need to buy a hook, fish out the bunker key card, buy the password changer, collect the Omega guide book from the bunker, buy a scuba mask and oxygen, head to the lake and fish out a safe, the safe might be bugged so you might have to break it with a hacksaw (buy a hacksaw) to get the Omega module, buy a shovel, and hazmat suit, dig up the radioactive capsule nearby one of the electrical stations, buy a good quality camera, go to at least 2 electrical stations and find the hidden limb joints, go to I think Romeo and dig up the patch of dirt looking for the Ball Joints. Now I hope you haven't cleaned your base yet, because you now need to use nearly half of all that junk lying around (not joking) to make, 8 Electrical scraps, 7 Metal scraps, 14 Plastic scraps, 1 glass scrap, and lastly... you need to buy 2 Base Kerfurs and disassemble them at the work bench to get 4 Kerfur parts because one Kerfur has ONE part less than you need. Enjoy your bot, it can't fix the Radio towers so their big use of never having to leave the base is diluted by still having to fix 3 whozitwhatsits. took 8 days straight to get everything together doing nothing but this, if you go at a leisurely pace or god forbid cleaned your base, you're basically locked out of it for how much of a pain it becomes.

Not exactly, the Radio Active capsule can't be bought, and idk how to get more of them, plus, again, the high resource costs basically require you to clean out the base of garbage purely for this one recipe, imagine having to collect that after making your base spotless, the absolute point costs to buy up enough crap to create the base ingredients is absurd.

You have to open the cave, go inside the cave, find the randomly generating rare resources, mine that shit and extract, you need like 16 to make one capsule

Haven't played since the base redesign
How is it now?
I didn't love the redesign because it felt like the soul of the game was getting diluted with jokey shit and more meaningless busy work.
I get WHY its being put in, but still.

I heard theres a new transformer mini game?
>>
>>724807923
I actually liked manual hashes at the start. It became part of the morning routine to keep me from going full shut-in.
>>
>>724817290
Base got re-redesigned, transformers got 1 minigame for upkeep +2 for repairing, and some other shit but it's almost purely big mechanical changes right now and little "signal content" or new events.
The most new content was in the Halloween mode while the rest feels like putting it out both to have a Halloween update and to get feedback for the new interaction system, floppy disks, zip drives, delivery drone, signal searching, transformer managing, radar repairing, atv upgrades, server upgrades, module upgrades, and so on to the point I know I'm forgetting more but this is the biggest changes to the actual systems of the game.
>>
>>724817290
The transformers have a panel that retracts and has 3 minigames under it. If it goes down you have to do all 3, if you wanna refresh it you only need to do one.
>>
>>724817290
The delivery drone has a big change, it now needs to be manually loaded/unloaded
Pretty cool in that you can fill it with infinite everything, but kinda shit in that it wakes you up at midnight to get unloaded
>>
tried the new update a bit in sandbox and in infinite mode (just a day to get to day 51 to unlock config in the world setting, apperntly it's per world and im not sure what it does, not starting a proper new save until the game gets fixed), new base looks neat and i like being able to finally fix the walls, but the fake fire exits are dumb.
I prefer the new signal system simple because the old one was genuinely fucking awful, having to move the super slow cursor for 10km just for the signal to disappear or the game telling you no, so you have to do it 5 times on average at the start, i only got 3 signal so maybe i was lucky but so far signal catching was far easier, but you could argue that nose should have just removed the chance for signal catch to fail
Tape task is very simple and pretty much freebie,i like it even if just because of my massive autism for games where you manually interact with machinery.
Only got 2 server minigames other than math and both were dogshit, the wires one would have been fine if you didn't need to manually rotate every single piece one by one and the falling bits one could be made far better by simple allowing you to instantly "slam" the bits by pressing space, math remains the best.
In my 0.8 play i would always carry a camera and photograph everything interesting i found so the video camera seems cool, but i wish it could do photos and i couldn't view the video on the base pc for some reason
haven't had to deal with transformers and coord tower so can't speak about them
i tried the new floopy system on my closest server and it only failed twice but i immagine it can take very long while if the rng dosen't like you, and it's not you can't do much in the server room while waiting unlike when catching signals at base.
Infinite weight drone is neat, but i don't like the shitty plastic bags and i'm not sure if i like it hanging out forever
Thanks for reading my blogpost
>>

Disregard the restricted zone completely. The pumpkin should be at the end of the river next to it. On the small path that connects one side to the other.

So how do you make concrete for the wall fixer?
>>
>>724818490
-Buy cement bag (40 points)
-Fill bucket with water
-Hold cement bag and use the bucket of water
-Will create about 20 or so units of concrete that you can then slather on the wall fixer

>>
what settings can i turn on to make the game not run like shit
ill turn around or go round a corner and it lags for a second due to the sheer amount of trash they added to the base
>>
>>724819240
Thus far I've felt it takes like 4 units of bucket concrete to fix a crack, so getting 5 cracks fixed with 1 bucket-worth or so.
Not exactly efficient or cheap, but I am happy to see places not look like they are falling apart at least.
>>
What's the point of having both floppy discs and zip drives?
>>
>>724819652
yeah you should just be able to send the floppy disk the hashcodes were already enough of a pain in the ass
>>
Can you still decorate to make the signal room a comfy home? I loved seeing the old screens where people had filled it with shit, including custom 3D prints
>>
>>724819240
Just did some wall fixing: the cement bag comes with 50 units, it uses 5% of water in the bucket to turn 1 unit of cement into 1 concrete, so a 100% full bucket is 20 units, and if you used a full bag of 50 units on a 80% full bucket you get 18 concrete and your bag keeps 32 cement. Each wall crack uses up 4 units.
>>
>>724819652
floppy disks only have like 32 read/writes in them, aka you put 3 hashes in and out thats 6 used up, a zip drive has a thousand something so it can be used for much longer
>>
>>724819652

Next time you get the red signal, the one that kills you, send it in as your daily task signal instead. I want to test of an interaction is still in the game.

Back in version 1 of the base, I unknowingly sent it in. And never caught on the threat was real cause that counts as getting rid of it. But a while later I got an email saying one of the doctors got killed under mysterious circumstances. Then my emails started coming from a different doctor. I never connected these events till I saw a streamer get killed by the red signal. Then realized I killed the doctor by mistake.

if i had to guess its because votv pussyfoots around too much.
>arirals are non-lethal if you dont intentionally piss them off, too friendly to be scary.
>the robots i forgot the name of are, also, completely non lethal. the only time they pose a risk is if you run away from the scanners and this is established with the ATV "washing" event
>yellow wisps dont last long enough anymore to be properly terrifying. and of course they're inactive during the day so there's no riskif you actually know the event
>grays never show themselves, and instead just shit out impotent boars. the tank is too far to be a piece of horror and more an annoying puzzle since its combat without proper weapons
>most "big" events trigger on specific days, so once you learn how shit works
the game takes too long to pull out actual threats, and when it finally does they're all impotent.
and of course the day specific events make the game way too learnable.

im going to throw out what i can think of for my ideal signal sim/votv knockoff just to see if anyone likes it
(1/2 - the base and the array)
>signal array you're sent to is in massive disrepair, the company that sent you doesnt even expect anything to be returned
>its just that someone should stay there to ward off looters, and its probably best to send someone who knows how to work the place even if broken
>base is just a run down bunker like 6.0's base
>prop physics system like votv so you can decorate the base.
>most rooms are a bit large to give you space for decor
>decent focus on bringing the base from "its a ruined dump" to "yeah i'd live here"

>instead of constant maintenance, greater focus on simply getting things back online
>most of the satellite array starts broken, and the few dishes still operational are on their last legs so you have almost no initial download speed
>getting your operational dishes dishes back to "functional usability" will let you download a signal over the course of a week. and sending your first signal in lets you buy materials from the company to get to work on serious repairs
>you can use the first download week to learn the lay of the land and figure out optimal routes
>in the early game, your profit will mostly come from cleaning the place up and sending back the material
>midgame, you'll get considerable bonuses for sending in array data and the occasional signal to show that the place is actually active and being repaired. but the bonuses are limited
>lategame, you can catch enough enough signals a day that money shouldnt be a problem, you're just working for the last few major upgrades

>as for maintenance, you wont have that much to do.
>the base and (once online) each radar (24 total) has a 4% chance to run into an issue that cant be automatically solved every day, and a 0.5% chance for a costly issue.
>with all radars online, on average you'll have one issue a day and one costly issue a week
>>
(2/2 - the creature feature)
>the more you repair satellites the more alien and paranormal activity you have to deal with.

>paranormal - awoken by the array's increased electric. sometimes hostile, sometimes friendly.
>>'supernatural' - explicitly friendly branch of paranormal entities.
>>'ghostly' - explicitly neutral branch of paranormal entities.
>>'specters' - explicitly hostile branch of paranormal entities.
>demons - antagonistic, but not explicitly hostile. in most cases you HAVE to invoke them yourself.
>>'preferential' - likes what you're doing, for whatever reason. will grant occasional boons naturally, just dont get greedy and summon them like you would other demons.
>>'balanced' - grants boons in exchange for favors. the requests are reasonable for the rewards
>>'detrimental' - not to be dealt with, will almost always saddle you with extreme consequences for even the smallest of boons. but if you really want to push the array to its limits...
>>'hostile' - wants you dead
>aliens - the variety pack, of course
>>grays - the player cant determine if they're hostile, passive, or simply curious. generally amoral so the results of their experiments are rather disturbing. in truth they just like fucking around. maybe the player will be able to get a beneficial implant?
>>"xenomechs" - hostile, drawn to the location by excessive activity from the array
>>"dev's personal pet race" - fox people space police (not the furry kind, just ain't my thing). mostly antagonistic to the player because the array's activity is rather intrusive (against space law to try and gleam data from random space craft), but they arent trying to kill you since its mostly a lack of knowledge. more of a "the fuck are these primitive apes looking out there for?" after initial contact yes i would give them argem doll equivalents
>>"watchers" - passive, another group of machines. unknown motives. most of the time, they're just in the forest doing nothing

>awoken by the array's increased electric.

i actually had an idea that their intro event would be shooting down several jammers that have to be disabled to restore functionality to nearby dishes.
if you take the time to properly deconstruct them rather than just bashing them apart like an ape, you can turn the scrap into a few extra upgrades for some of the dishes.

yeah the big problem with "maintenance" gameplay like votv uses is that you can only add so much before it becomes outright unfun, all you're doing is running on a treadmill to keep things going, and eventually you wont be able to get off of it.
but "repair" style gameplay lets you keep adding more, and the player can always go at their own pace.

Again: Daylength setting does not adjust your hunger and sleep rates, and so its fucked.
Youre getting hungrier and tired faster with 50% speed. And sleeping refills your meter TOO fast because the world is moving at x# speed THEN x0.5 while your meter fills at x# speed as normal.

So what happens is you need to eat more often because your day is actually 1.5 days, and your sleep schedule is totally fucked because your meter drains at double speed comparatively.
Youe sleepy by 4, suffering depirvation until night time, and then when you sleep you get back up to full meter by like 3AM, which ducks you cause you cant go back to sleep without item aids, and then youre sleepy even EARLIER cause youve been up since 3AM...

The biggest problem this game has always had and forever will have is that a solid 95% of the game's content does not need to be interacted with and the game does nothing to push you to interact with it
The vast, vast majority of people who play this game and don't watch a 40 minute long "game explained" video or a twitch stream or no life the discord server won't even have a clue how much content is in this game they'll never, ever see
So much cryptic bullshit that the game expects you to just know or to look up but the catch 22 is that the more you look up about this game the less fun your playthrough will be because playing this game as blind as possible is the only way to preserve the atmosphere and spooks

thats fine, to an extent. the problem is

this, when the game has zero hints on any of it. this >>724863254 is actually a perfect example.
the fossilhound is so rare that unless you're explicitly chasing every radar ping you'll probably never see it. (and you'll probably never see it if you do)
all the argems except for the base 3, the cult of the lamb rune hunt, quite a few hidden events, i'd even argue that omega kerf is in the realm of "never ever for a normal player"
i mean fuck, the ariral picnic. i've missed that every single time. even before i knew to buy a kerfus.

>>
>>724864036
I think the picnic is a little better signposted now since the two satellites almost directly on either side of it are set to go down when it spawns.
Omega kerfur too at least has the hint/recipe book sitting just inside the alpha bunker, so as long as they can make their way in they'll at least get a hint about it (before getting filtered by the metal detector or needing to buy the fucking diving gear)

>>724864196
I think KerfurO is just barely possible to find completely blind but only for an extremely curious player willing to go on an obscene wild goose chase for maybe no payoff
Getting into the Alpha hideout is already a decent barrier, a lot of people could just easily miss the keycard when looking in there and how many who even do see it are going to think of the hook?
Then you have the hints to the locations themselves and I do think most of them can be deduced intuitively with the exception of
>no distinction between ball and limb joints in the text so right now it just reads like a contradiction
>"near romeo" is very vague
I think most people would assume near to mean around the base of the satellite not in a weird gravel mound down the hill
>"our office" for the radioactive capsule
Could be intuited to mean one of the transformers considering the limb joints were found in two of them and there's no other building on the map that could be considered an office but there are multiple sections of the map signposted with radiation symbols and I would expect a lot of people to waste their time walking around these areas with a geiger counter they paid out the ass for the blueprints for
>>
>>724767193
Sometimes less is more.
>>
>>724864884
Fair enough on the rad capsule, even knowing the rough location the things a fucking bitch to track down. The current book does differentiate between the two joint types though, but I do agree that a player who isn't very curious is going to follow through on the chase for something that has no stated ingame benefit prior to making it

>The current book does differentiate between the two joint types though,
It does for the crafting recipes themselves but not for the hints to the locations. They're both just referred to as "the joints" so it reads pretty clunky if you don't put 2 and 2 together and realise one hint is referring to one joint type and one hint to another
For an already extremely cryptic and vague treasure hunt it'd help if it was written as explicitly as possible
>>
>>724848779
Less is more, votv has so much stuff you you get desensitied about it by the time the real scary thing happens. Signal simulator is a lot of dull work so when something happens feel scarier.
>>
>>724865647
its sad because 6.0 had that feeling exactly, you'd only get an event every few days which let you settle back into a routine, now they're nearly constant.
and i know a few people told nose this but naturally he ignored it in favor of the retards that dont know what they want.
>>
>>724864884
Honestly I'm fine with Kerfus-O being a huge bitch to build, mainly because of how much it's capable of. Not only can it fix servers, it can collect satellite hashes, and fix transformers. It basically automates almost all the shit relevant to your job short of downloading and processing signals. Something like that should be a massive undertaking to build. Also you never have to worry about it negotiating difficult terrain like the standard kerfus.

The game actually does a lot to try and nudge you toward stuff as it happens. Meta Paranoia as a whole is a system designed to ensure you're aware of and unable to miss out on an on-going event or nearby entity. Entities can be seen through the radar (and should be seeked out if you actually want to see things in the game) and locational events have tells (Ariral campfire smoke) and hard nudges (transformers and servers being rigged to fail and doors being locked to lure you out to where something is happening).
I do agree that some shit is just too obscure or difficult to achieve though. The current Omega recipe is a horrible overcorrection (especially now that Nose has added new outside maintenance that Omega cannot do and events that completely disable Omega thus eliminating the major problem of players relying on Omega to do all the outside work for them) and while I understand and value having crazy secret shit in a game I think there's too much of that kind of stuff going on with zero indication of its existence. There's no reason for someone to put skulls in the shower other than being told by external sources that shit will happen if they do.
>>
>>724866303
What did you expect to happen?
>>
>>724866132
There's a difference between being a bitch to craft and being one of 2000 additions to the game you can't reasonably expect a player to ever find. It's just another piece of content to add to the pile of "cool shit you need to be told exists"
KerfurO should be hard to craft because of how powerful it is but the way it's currently implemented is emblematic of the game's larger design problem of 95% of content being on the level of schoolyard rumour tier fetch quests and arbitrary, unintuitive actions you'd never reasonably undertake without prior knowledge
It's a game that simultaneously wants you to know nothing but almost begs you to look up outside information which kind of defeats the whole "immersive" part of the immersive sim

the problem is,
>Also you never have to worry about it negotiating difficult terrain like the standard kerfus.
this little bit right here is such a major quality of life upgrade that it makes the kerfo upgrade practically mandatory.
if you ask me,
>base kerfo is the old recipe, all this one can do is repair servers and not get stuck on every piece of map geometry. it still needs to be plugged in, annoyingly.
upgrading movement at the cost of an extra kerfus is completely fair.
>additional functionality comes as upgrades
>omega core = once installed, enables further upgrades. but each upgrade increases the chance of an event happening to kerfo
>radiation capsule + metal scrap = power core. removes the charging plug and power percentage.
>"reinforced limbs" (ball joint fetch quest) + metal scrap = can hold items
>drive storage + electrical scrap = floppy uplink. can receive hashes, but you need to install a floppy into kerfo to actually retrieve them.
>rubber scrap + GPU = logical processor. can repair transformers and load hashes into the computer., bonus to server repair speed as an extra.

>>724864573
Hate this retarded argument. 0.9 was first supposed to come by the end of August, then he decided he'd rather delay it to October for halloween. And hey, no issue there! Planning two months ahead is good.
Except instead of tying loose ends, enacting a feature freeze the next couple months and working on halloween mode and the occasional bugfix while paytrons do their job testing things out, Nose's just been messing around adding more "stuff [new]".

This was a self imposed release date, set months in advance.
Treating it like someone's been pressuring him to release in a week regardless of how polished the update may be, is just plain silly.

>>
>>724867314
KerfO still has the occasional issue with terrain, moreso now with how the satellites can clip into the walkways and with his new aversion to water, there's at least one route that's impossible for KerfO to do because it gets stuck on the riverside

A basic kerfus can take care of bad servers while you do other things, and you can check at any terminal to see how close the transformers are to failure and either plan to reset it beforehand or prep for the outage and send KerfO if you're retarded.
Theres zero way to play around the coordinate towers aside from dumping points into them to have a buffer for complete failure, and even that still requires you to physically go to each tower to pop the fuses in
