because the only source for the gunblade being a vibroblade that needs you to pull a trigger and/or load ammo instead of just being active all the time for no reason is a japanese book nobody who would have an issue with it would readminewhile ff8 and every crossover that features squall shows his gunblade making a fucking explosion when he swings it, which along with its obvious name makes people think its firing some kind of shot/missile out.also the gunblade canonically sucks on purpose. seifer uses it because he saw it in a play and he's a chunni and squall uses it because its hard and he's a stubborn douchebag that falls for used goods rinoa
I always assumed the purpose was to detonate a small explosion from the sides of the blade after cleaving into the target, in order to substantially increase the severity of the wound. Which would be absurd overkill for a human-sized target but seems reasonable against the giant monsters SeeDs are expected to fight on a daily basis. I guess it doesn't make much logistical sense but thematically I think it works.

Mid slice, as the sword is embedded in enemy, the force of the bullet implodes inside the wound causing extra damage. Whether this is an explosion, the force of the air or it vibrates the blade doesn't really matter.Makes me think a gun polearm with exhaust holes in the tip of the spear would make an interesting sci-fi weapon. Stab, fire, and your enemy is now has a gaping hole where their chest cavity used to be.
