Not a hard thing to do. The engine is actually dogshit from a modern perspective. Consider this for a moment, Alyx came out in 2020. That same year we got Cyberpunk 2077, and over a year prior we got Red Dead 2. Both games dominate Alyx from a graphical standpoint. Since then we've seen even crazier rendering breakthroughs with path tracing and supplemental tech for it. Meanwhile, Source 2 is still focused on baked lighting with shitty shadow maps and some basic ambient occlusion shaders. It's archaic by 2020 standards and today it's stone age. If it's another VR based game, then it has to maintain this status quo as even with a 5090 and an equally old as Alyx Valve Index (see: super low resolution), the game is still quite demanding at high sampling settings. I can't lock 144hz at 150% resolution scaling. Now imagine an actually high resolution headset. The Index is only 1440x1600 per eye. There are headsets out there that are like 3400x3840 per eye. Orders of magnitude harder to render. This means the game will be just as outdated visually as Alyx. I highly doubt it will have any ray tracing technology incorporated in it and so it will always be dated from release on with no future scaling of faster hardware.

LOL the only good engine that you mentioned is RAGE that runs RDR and GTA, the rest is absolute slop with shitty graphics and terrible physics, Cyberpunk is a shitfest with glitchy vehicles and ragdolls that clip through entities and garbage optimization, and it applies to all the rest of the games that run on UE5, ray tracing that eats half of your framerate and looks 5% better or sometimes worse than baked
