without sounding like a shill explain how controllers having removable batteries is a bad thing
>>724784265I don't wanna go out to buy new batteries I wanna charge my controller while I goon
>>724784265they shouldn't have batteries at all, cords are the goat
>batteries run out>look in the closet>no spare ones
>>724784265More weight to the controller and less convenient. Getting a 2nd controller to swap to is faster than changing batteries.
>>724784460Buy rechargeable batteries
>>724784430>this anon commited suicide under suspicious circumstances
>>724784516they last like 2 hours
>>724784559More like 6
>>724784265It's fine if you have the option to connect a USB cable like Xbox, but it's a jew move if that's the only way to power it. Even gameboys had AC adapter ports back in the day
>>724784265rechargeable AA batteries goated
>>724784516I tried this a long time ago. 1. Shit starts great but doesn't hold a charge after a while2. Motherfuckers never put batteries in the charger so you end up with a drawer full of uncharged batteries
>>724784516why not just fucking buy a controller that has a built in rechargable battery? are you excited that you get the opportunity to spend more money on pointless shit you don't need?this thread is fucking retarded
>>724784559>>724784584More like 100
>>724784726>t. shill
>>724784726>internal battery dies>have to buy a whole new controllerWhat phone do you use?
>>724784803you can replace still them zoom zoom.
>>724784878good luck getting an oem battery for it
>>724784265this isn't even the issue the real issue is there's no prefect controller that does everything and has all features you have to buy to 2 at least
>>724784559>they last like 2 hoursjust like the ps3, 4 and 5 controller
The correct battery solution is both removable and rechargeable. Battery about to die? Plug it in. Battery about to die and you want range? Swap out to a fully charged battery.
>>724784265It isn't, in fact it's good, you can just purchase one of those battery packs anyway.
>>724784927just buy one from chink express>b b but they will die in 2 monthsnot my experience, even if was true they are dirt cheaprechargable batteries are the true scam. they lose half their charge in a year, they tend to break randomly and stop charging. use lithium battery instead
>>724784803>internal battery dies>plug a cord in and use it wired
>>724784265explain how not being able to use a screwdriver to remove the screws and replace the "unreplaceable" battery is justifiable as an adult human being
>>724785102unless you're planning on gluing the cable to the controller you're in for a really bad time
>Flirting with a boy anon in VC while playing vidya>oh sorry anon I have to get up and go get batteries>Instead of just plugging it in and continuing or having a goonsesh with him while it chargesChargeable is just superior for both your sake and the sake of your friends cock.Simple as.
>>724784265Just give us the option of having removable lithium packs like the old cell phones use to have. The batteries have gotten better I recent years, but back then the battery would go long before the phone. I would buy a $10 battery and be good to go
>>724785142>just trust that the chink battery with zero quality control won't catch on fire and burn your house down bro
>>724785197What? Why?
>>724785265
>>724784878So.. You're advocating for replaceable batteries. Checkmate atheist.
>>724785265you can just get lithium AA batteries, they cost 3 times more and last 10x as much as a regular ones
>>724785265but they are removable
>>724785091You know what's in a rechargeable battery right? Get yourself some eneloop or IKEA ladda batteries, they last forever
>>724785267lmao bro all controllers are made in china.
>>724785267https://www.ifixit.com/en-eu/products/playstation-dualsense-controller-batteryhere lil bro
>>724785303the cable disconnects very easily from thge controller
>>724785372Original manufacturers have better quality control because they don't want to be responsible for houses burning down while night shift china workers don't care
>>724785394Never had that problem. Maybe don't be a spastic retard thrashing it around?
>>724785391that's not the original one
>>724785391https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Sony+DualSense+Controller+Battery+Replacement/142053What a fucking nightmare, AA batteries would have been so much better
>>724785456>Original manufacturers have better quality controlLMAO XBOX ELITE CONTROLLER
>>724785391if the controller doesn't use rechargeable double aa's then it's garbage
>>724785553Never used one, are they bad? And I meant for batteries specifically
>>724785521sorry chud but original dualsense batteries are also made in china.
>my phone, with its large-ass display, Wi-Fi, touchscreen and bluetooth headphones, can last over 6 hours reading manga or shitposting on 4chan.>meanwhile my controller dies sooner even though it only transmits simple data.explain that science fags. nimh just sucks
I can't tell if this is a nostalgialard thing or whatever.Controllers needing batteries sucked ass. I have several remotes that all need AA or AAA batteries, and controllers drain them like nothing else. It's a big waste of money. You know what I have though? A rechargeable DualShock 3 that I got back in 2009. Over 15 years old, still regularly use it since my PS3 slim is still my primary BD player, and it still works great.I have my launch DualShock 4, it is the only controller I use for my PC and my Steam Deck when it's docked. Over a decade, still great.
>>724785829Batteries used to suck 20+ years ago. Now they are very capable
>>724785619then why do we keep hearing about exploding phones. even iphones were overheating. they are all the same shit.
>>724784803moto g5 cause newer phone are worse
>>724785912Nvm based
>>724785910Much higher capacity, much higher loads, untested new experimental designs
>>724785526you must be at least 18 to post here. it doesn't even involve soldering
>>724785526The entire process takes 5-10 minutes and then you're fine for the next few years.
>>724785829>Uses DualShock 4my condolences
>>724785973I'm too old to have the patience for shit like that, I'll just buy a new one. 10 years ago I enjoyed tinkering with things
>>724786016Good thing I don't have a PS5 controller then, my 10 year old Xbox one works great still, I charge it like once a year
>>724784265If you actually take care of your controller, having removable batteries means they can last several years without worrying about them not being able to hold a charge.t. owner of an XBone controller from circa 2018 that still works great.
>>724786148>If you actually take care of your controllerwhat do you need to do? sing lullabies while they sleep? it is just a fucking battery and they lose about 30-50% in a year depending on use.
>>724784710>2. Motherfuckers never put batteries in the charger so you end up with a drawer full of uncharged batteriesSkill issue, but also you can get those AA batteries that have a built-in USB. You could probably find some that are smart enough to be left plugged in for an extended time without damaging the battery.
>>724784265Because if the controller is a handheld monobody controller, there is no reason for it to have a battery instead of just a USB cable with adequate strain relief. The only usecase for wireless controllers now is motion controllers like for VR.
>>724786841>take shitty NiMh batteries that comes with low capacity and low voltage that needs to be stepped up inefficiently>reduce the volume and increase the cost by adding charging circuit into them, making them even more shitty in the processwhy would anyone buy that
>>724785912
ewasteunless you use rechargable
>>724784430Try this was kids and pets from a couch, not great. Xbox with those break free cords wasn’t bad but these days I prefer cordless, love the DualSense haptics but prefer the Xbox batteries. Just want Sony to adopt the battery idea, drop the tractors and ditch the extra lights nonsense.
>>724784559My Enloop and Fuji’s were easily giving me 2-3 days of play using an Xbox X|S controller with the guide button light disabled.
>>724785526Yeah reminds me of the ifixit guide for opening my phone, easy to break tabs, water seal, etc. No wonder people just opt to buy new devices. I’m 44 and pretty handy but no interest in missing with stuff.
>>724786029My virginal hands were first exposed to analog sticks via the original DualShock, it is not by my will that I continue preferring them.
>>724784374>rechargable batteries are not a thing
>>724784726>controller is out of charge>gotta wait hours to use it again because it has to charge back up>can't remove empty battery and put in full one in 30 seconds
>>724788290yeah I guess you could use those
>>724784265Controller batteries don't die anyway. Even if one did die and I have to buy a whole new one I am definitely saving money overall by not having to buy AAs
>>724785091That's because non-lithium battery have charge memory, every once in a while you have to run them down to 0 and back to full in one cycle
>>724784265Batteries cost moneyConnecting my wireless controller through a USB-C does not>b-b-but rechargable batteriesOk? How are they gonna appear in my house for free? Oh they cost money? No thanks
>>724784803if you can't trust a controller to get something as simple as a rechargeable battery that doesn't break, how can you trust them to make a joystick that doesn't drift or buttons that don't stick?
>>724785265But you need a different lithium pack for each thing, you can't use them interchangeably.Oh, here's a good idea, we could split it up into standard sized pieces and use those interchangeably!I think we can call them batteries, what do you think?
>>724788584>buttons don't stickmaybe wash your hands once in a while>joystick that doesn't driftget controllers that doesn't try to scam you by selling potentiometers
>>724785553It's easier to sue the giant corpo than the random chink
>>724788883>sue microsoft>lose the case because their lawyers have over 9000 on jewishry skill>lose $$$ in the process>bill gates hires some niggers to break your legs after the lawsuitno thanks
>>724784265Its not a bad thing. I dont put batteries in the controller. I plug the controller into my computer or an outlet with a usb cable so it never needs batteries. And since there is not built in lithium battery, the controller remains light and it will never start a fire. ive done this since the Xbox One released.
>>724789408>what if it explodes!!!1said while he typing with his phone at handdamn, big nickel brainwashed you niggas for good
>>724790041i dont own a smart phone.
>>724784803Literally open it up and swap in a new one. And that's assuming it dies before you were going to buy a new controller anyway.
>>724790359it is 2025, we no longer have screwdrivers or motorskills to use one grandpa
>>724785197USB C stays firmly in the back of an Xbox Series controller. Xbox One controllers use a micro usb, and those will shake loose. to keep the wire in place I drilled a hole in the removable battery plate, and put a bolt in it. Took the lid from a pop top soup can and cut a slot so it could fit over the wire and bolt. then used Nuts to pinch the metal in place. You can also keep the Tab on it at the top and loop the cable through it, so its harder to pull the cable out. there are a bunch of different ways to do it.
are wireless controllers good enough nowadays for latency?I never bothered with them because i would rather use the cheap ass chink knockoffs
>>724792576why can't you be normal
>>724793323bluetooth sucks, 2.4ghz ones are alright but still doesn't beat wiredbut it doesn't really matter since all games are designed with 100ms lag in mind
>>724793323Xbox and Sony have been as good wireless as wired since Xbox One/PS4Nintendo's pretty shit, but to correct spec for their own consolesChink controllers mostly had awful wireless until the last year or so, you'll still want to do research on individual models but there's stuff from multiple brands that's competitive with or surpasses (not that you'll notice in practice) first party response times now
>>724793343its not in the cards.
>>724784374I bought a battery pack that (two battery packs for around $17) I just pop em in the charger whenever they get low. They saved me money on buying AAs within the first month and I'll never have to take my controller apart to replace the built in battery. Seems like a good compromise
>>724784265They should have built in batteries or removable rechargeable packs that take USB C plugs
>>724793323can't tell the difference
>>724784265I like how 8bitdo did it where the rechargeable battery is the same shape as 2 AA batteries so you can always use replaceable batteries if you need to.
Batteries are so expensive and you can’t just buy two it’s always like a 8 pack for $20 then I lose them in my junk drawer and forget about them when I need them or you need AAA or some bullshit
>>724796158if you get regular alkaline batteries it's like 10 for 5€, or just get 4 rechargeable ones that last for 20 years for 10€
>>724796615>rechargeable ones that last for 20lol
>>724796663yeah? the good quality ones last forever, charge cycles that is
>>724796702lmao, you have no idea what you are talking about.
>>724796663Unless you're throwing your shit around, especially when it's discharged, or leaving it out in the snow, there's no reason your rechargeables shouldn't last a stupid long time, at least a good thousand charge cycles.
>internal battery dies outUhhhh
>>724796923once they lose 30-50% or so they might as well go into trash. which is about 1-2 years of regular usage
>>724796865my batteries work fine for me a decade later
>>724796031this is the smartest thing I've ever seen. Why doesn't every company do this?
if you dont use rechargeable aa’s then you are retardedperchance
>>724797229Not even 8Bitdo does it beyond the first two versions of that model.
>>724797073Not since like the mid-00s have rechargeables been that bad. Even the internal rechargeables most gamepads ship with these should last a stupid amount of cycles. Imagine if Milwaukee batteries only lasted 2 years. There'd be riots in the streets.
>>724797229because it is more expensive and less efficient than using regular lion battery
>>724796031>got rid of it in the Pro 3
>>724797124Likewise, I got some new Fujitsu’s that last pretty long but I swear the En’s outlast em even after all this time.
