BlazBlue CT is what made me play fighting games seriously and BBCF ultimately reaching the end of its cycle and becoming less played by the community is what made me finish playing fighting games in general.Mostly because there will just never, ever be a fighting game that feels better to me to play than Nu-13. By that I mean study the distribution of their blockstrings, their mixups, the probabilities that they choose rock/paper/scissors, what they tend to get hit by, their strategy in neutral, when they burst, etc. This is made somewhat easier because the favorites in any given tournament usually have tons of footage online that will let you pre-download them. Then you are unbeatable, even though you aren't the best player in the field.I was so hyper focused on winning through honing my skill alone, that I never considered formulating specific strategies to beat the specific players who countered me and always seemed to have my number.I only accidentally stumbled upon this a few times when I would see someone really good talking about their matches on Dustloop. They would mention how the person they were talking to was using X to fuck them up. Then if I ever fought them later, I would do X and it would still fuck them up, even though they were better than me in raw skill. Then later they would say that it was like I "knew what they were trying to do" or "was reading their mind". I just never put 2 and 2 together until much later.

BBCF is legitimately my favorite fighting game of all-time. Nearly everything about it is phenomenal. It’s also respectable that it is one of last ORIGINAL FG IPs ever. (of any consequence - not counting indieslop) It’s a little sad that the series is over, but it has seemingly been spared the grim fate of having it’s identity raped by a (current year) iteration, and it got a rollback patch, so I can’t complain too much.
