>brand new PC>see atomic heart in the humble bundle>pick it up>graphics settings automatically set to Atomic>sweet>play for 3 hours, flawless framerate>random voltage spike overdraws my 1000w psu>forums say I should buy a 1600w power supply to fix itwow what a shit gamewhy can't modern devs stop their games from drawing more power than a refrigerator?
Skill issue never happened to me and I've played this game twice at the highest settings in 4k. Eat a dick.
>>724827442skill issue
>>724827442>power surge destroys your power supply>have to buy a new $200 power supply>if it was a console, you'd be buying a new $700 console>WHY ARE PC GAMES SO SHITI think you're raging at the wrong target.
>>724830342it didn't break anything, just shuts down my pc randomly so I can't play it unless I buy a bigger power supplyi've played more demanding UE5 games without having my psu's safety measures tripped so it's the developer's fault.
>>724830342You wouldn't get a power spike on a console
>>724830661ue5 is less power hungry because they add arbitrary sleeps everywhere and its an unoptimized slop of an engine
your first mistake was installing atomic shart
>>724827442Easily fixable by maxing your PCU budget and changing your BIOS settings
what was this game even about
>>724827442You're just subhuman brownie
>>724830661Check your UEFI BIOS power settings. If you use a shitintel CPU that could be an issue. That doesn’t mean you need to change the motherboard. Just browse the settings and identify what settings can can cause a surge. Even if you use default factory settings they can cause a problem. It’s not a game issue.
Just buy a better PSU, retard.
>>724827442wtf, how did you manage to get over 1000w pulled from a single game
I’m literally having to install windows for the second time right now because the bios update fucked my microsoft pin. I fucking hate pc so much it’s unreal
>>724831552Thank )) Men ))Slavaukrainian Rubles Have been Deposit In Уou're Account )))
>>724827442This is the only game I've seen that makes me sweat on the power draw. I've rarely encountered a game that draws near 600 watts, just a little bit under. 580w maybe on an RTX 5090. To draw near 1000? what the fuck happened for that to occur? I've actually got a 1600w PSU. I guess I'll have to try it out to see if it survives.
>>724832340whoops forgot image. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is the most power intensive game I've ever seen was the point I was trying to make.
>>724830342That wouldnt happen on a console you low IQ gen z retard
>>724831248>because they add arbitrary sleeps everywhereHoly nodev who has never touched UE5 or seen a line of its code. Did you learn this bullshit lie from John Nanite at Threat Interactive?
>>724827442There isn't a build right now that's going to draw more than 1000W. It doesn't randomly draw more power based on a game running. You're a retarded faggot.
>>724827442>set game to "fry my PC please">ignore all hardware limitations, YOLO the fuck out of that shit>PC fries itself>blame everyone but selfskill issue desu
I didn't know about this and I also got the bundle.I have a 650W PSU and a 3070tiWas planning to undervolt anyway.
>>724832590If you sized your psu for full load you're not suddenly going to need more power.
>>724827442>be me>play stellaris>late game becomes too slow>install mods for fixing it>it works>new update>get even worseTime to look for another game.
I thought this was an atomic heart hate thread, I'm 7 hours in and I just don't understand the praise.
>>724832987>I just don't understand the praise.Tits, Anon. The praise is for robot tits.
>>724832898I can't fathom how or why the game performs even worse now, I thought it was already quite shit but they managed to fuck it up again EVEN MORE with the recent population reworkWhich isn't a surprise either, who'd have thought that instead of having whole, inseparable numbers, hundredfolding those and splitting them up so the AI gets even dumber at micromanagement can fuck things up even further??They basically just took a mechanic that already made the game perform bad (the #1 performance fix is "genocide the galaxy" for a reason) and thought "you know what this needs? Fractions, so the AI has to consider even more bullshit"
>>724827442Has to be a 5090, right? Even the 4090 doesn't spike up that high.
>>724834050close, 5080though there's a bunch of posts on steam discussions about kernel-power errors while playing with otherwise stable power supplies in 2023, so I'm inclined to believe there's some rare bug happening that never got diagnosed or fixedmost of them gave up on it because the game was too mediocre to bother, and I'm not gonna risk it either
