I feel like I'm the only person who play games in here nowadays.I was playing DaO (again) and realized that I hate how similar all equipment look in vanilla game.I didn't want to use mods, since most of them give you overpowered loot and it just feel wrong, so I decided to learn modding (never done this myself), and right now I learned how to give vanilla armor and weapons a custom look from other mods.I feel proud of myself. Also I realized I enjoyed this more than playing game itself.
You can see that my armor is from OC.Should I invest more time into modding?
>>724853803Very based, and yeah, there is not much variety with armor in that game.
>>724853934Thanks. I only replaced models of some equipment. Since there are few which I like as it is. Also I hate that you can not just do the same for Sten, since he is using different body.
>>724853803this game really needs more modern modding tools but considering how old it is i already have no hopes, the blender add on only works on a 15 year old version of blender, it's such a pain to import models
>>724853803The only thing I dislike about origins armor is how ugly all mage helmets are. Personally I like the toned down realistic look that avoided the trap of copying warcrafts hyper fantasy style that so many others were plagiarizing in that time
>>724854654>look that avoided the trap of copying warcraftsWeird, each time I play this game, I just can not unsee WoW influence on it.
>>724854734How? Compared to wow the look of the armor is practically demure in origins
A special game. I used to think it was just the Nostalgia-machine, but I played it again after my major stroke and enjoyed it just as much as ever, and only after that regained my childhood memories. For whatever reason Lothering, the little we see of it, was the most vivid location. The feeling of that place is still burned into my mind. And still Morrigan's voice remains silverine and beautiful. https://youtu.be/Ty87q1J8yRo?si=9XohmuBGd8ck0_G4&t=180
>>724855026DAO is still better than all the other current RPGs out there but still it was not a 3D Baldurs Gate.
>>724854989I am old enough to remember classic Bioware website, where they still had screenshots like this for the new UNreleased dragon age game.
could try thishttps://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/577
>>724853803Very nice. I'm not the biggest fan of DAO, but I did really like the way you could set up specific behaviours under specific conditions for your party members, so that you wouldn't have to micromanage them. Honestly I'm surprised this didn't end up the way all party-based RPGs went. It plays much smoother than turn-based.
>>724853803I love seeing people get into mod creation and be excited to show off what they did, no matter how big or small. Unironically I do. Wholesome.>>724855090I remember that as well from the non-defunct Bioware forums. They were testing out DA:O ideas on the Aurora engine (NWN1 and Witcher 1's engine). I was so excited because they were going to do a "D&D-like game, but without being constrained by Hasbro/WotC rules/censorship (of the time)". I remember how strict Hasbro/WotC was that I initially didn't believe /v/ when people were saying (before release) that BG3 would have full nudity and sex scenes. DA:O was the way it was due to them not being able to do that with D&D before.
>>724855154Can't find a post anymore since the Bioware forums have been long dead, but one of the devs outright said DA:O's macro system was modeled after FF12's gambit system.
