And we will have to experience and explore it through the omnipresent lens of unlikable and uninteresting characters. Even a completely silent MC would have been an improvement, they could get away with the cancer patient design without too much fuss. Hell, I have a silver bullet DEI alternative for them: Make her deaf. You play as a silent MC that "speaks" through subtitled hand waggling. But music is still a big deal to her because she "feels" the vibrations even if she can't hear it.
