It only seems like it was more common in the past due to the fact that your mind may lump it all together as a single period of time to compare to a modern year. There is a problem with no budget promotions, but those have always kind of been a thing. If I were to say the main issue, it is the fact that lower budget anime looks worse now. But this is because everyone is seeking some flashy unique art style even at the expense of good animation. Also, don't trust gachafags when they say gacha is dominating everything. They are deceitful and hate every other otaku media.

The number of isekai this year has been very low. Of course, this doesn't keep /a/ from being flooded by botposts discussing each one.
