japan was on some trans-humanity flow in the mid 90s. they were seriously evaluating their place in the world, being the center of the technological revolution and taking humanity to the next stage, which wasn't going to well for them at that time.ghost in the shell also called in to question the very nature of human memory itself, and supposed whether data is a sufficient replacement for human memory

AC3 is still the most ambitious game in the series
>>724899657For millenia, those in power couldn't live without those pesky peasants. They needed them for so many things. But gradually over time, they made it so they needed us less and less, starting all the way back when we domesticated livestock, and slowly escalating until we hit industrial revolution and went into overdrive with automatisation. We have automated physical labor, we have automated agriculture, we have automated factories, we have automated computing work, we have automated banking and service industry, and now we are automating thought and entertainment. We are close to the point where the only humans that are still needed are plumbers, because it's a surprisingly complex and multi-fauceted job. I will not apologize for the pun.

I thought the nemesis dogfights with epic music was awesome even if scripted.I thought the drones were retarded and boring. What do you guys recommend? Never played any sort of plane game before.
>>724892453Considering how they handled 7's story, do you really think they're capable of that?
>>724922761at least it's not 2011-2019 where it wasn't clear if strangereal was dead forever(yeah yeah, there was AHL, but they were tying it in to AH...)
>>724936689Really weirdly though. RR has stuff like real world locations, sponsors that would be either impossible or in really bad taste in Strangereal, no real connections to anything besides the Nagases, etc.AC7 does have a reference to Ridge Racer, but it's just a billboard with a car from a game that never got released.
>>724894007>How does killing mostly civilians fix thisKilling civilians is the answer to every problem.
>>724936881Give the PS2 games a go, you'll probably love Zero (but it's a prequel to 5 so save it until then)Fortunately drones in every other game fly like regular planes more or less (except for boss fight in 6) so don't worry about thatAlternatively if you don't want to emulate you could try Project Wingman

>>724898514Ace Combat 8 : ReflectionThe 8 would have a line through it like it's made with a mirrored 3You would play as two different pilots from different nations at war. showing you both sides of the conflict.Final mission is against your other Ace in the last plane you used for them.

>>724899501I wish. Japan lives in the same 2025 as the rest of us.
>>724937215It's just a running gag that's gotten out of hand. It made sense back in the RRT4/AC2 era, since Strangereal wasn't properly a thing yet and a 'haha the Nagases are sisters because we made one model and used it 5 times" thing, but at this point it's just a sort of "haha trivia" thing. Especially since Ridge Racer has always been set in the real world (ostensibly), not just the recurring Ridge State and Type 4's locales but right up to RR7/PSP RR2, you still have the news ticker and company info talking about the USA, France, Japan, and so on.Rule of thumb is RR supercedes everything else because it's always been a love letter to Namco's other franchises and obscure arcade games. What the hell is a Plid's, anyway?

>>724941161I assume Kono went into another deep depression after the "I hate real war" tweet, had everything scrapped, and started over yet again relatively recently when they made the nugget tour video. He's a fickle mistress, give him time.
>>724941161Bamco already got their "let's do a mediocre live-service release of one of our more niche franchises with a loyal fanbase" out of the way relatively early, so they can't do that again...can they?

>>724904151>for some reasonI mean, you got the whole Bamco Sound Team on your back. Why wouldn't you go all in?
I unironically enjoyed Assault Horizon. The music was banging and it had some planes that had never been in AC previously. If they toned down the on rails stuff it could have been better.I understand, though, that I am in the minority. My favorite AC has to be AC6, btw.

>>724904708blimps are cool and only a faggot would say otherwise
>>724941775I don't hate it but it felt lukewarm compared to the other games. Also the fact that I only realized YOU HAVE TO use DFM to destroy the missiles after retrying the last segment 4 times in a row soured me on that mechanic.Co-op missions and fully customizable color palette were very cool, though. You can even change the smoke trail colors. I hope 8 brings them back

>>724941920are you bbw appreciator as well?
>>724941939I also liked the bomber missions, even if they were on rails. It was something that we don't really get to see in AC, and I'd like to see bomber missions (but not on rails) make a comeback in the future.Overall, I liked a lot of things about AH, but DFM soured the overall experience. The real world story didn't bother me as much as it seemed to bother other people. The music was good enough to make up for all of it in my eyes.
>>724895859Pretty sure that every ace combat superweapon is just a concept from the atomic age. Or great minds just think alike.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_CL-1201
>>724942027I guess the problem with AH's story was it's very by-the-numbers. Doesn't help that COD was also making a whole trilogy of Russian coup de etat. At least AC6 had cringekino with the whole angel motto, Golden King and the tank crew stuff.

>>7249482252 and 3 are great. In a weird way both 2 and 3 do well. 2 is balls to the wall classic action, great ost and the level design set the standard for the rest of the series. 3 is another level of good presentation.
>>724907035You're retarded
>>724908261the english version is a completely different game get the JP one with the translation
>>7249482251 is considered a disappointment by the devs because it was originally supposed to be a port of the first arcade game. If you're interested, play Air Combat and Air Combat 22 on an arcade emulator instead.2 (which is unrelated to 22) is their first true Ace Combat console game, and is probably the best overall for pure arcade style gameplay.3 is their first story-focused game and has probably aged the worst, but is still worth a play.

>>724952152>they restarted development with only 12 months to go, they obviously fucked up whatever the original plan was for the narrative. This is factually incorrect. The only thing that happened was needing to pull in outside engineering help to get the game engines working properly (said by Project Aces at the CEDEC 2019 presentation), and the narrative being tweaked to emphasize the drones because they thought the original conspiracy angle would be too much of a copy of 5 (proven with the recorded voice lines).
