Here's my 1cc :^) https://sendvid.com/pqgn37iy
>>724924164
>>724924164+RE4~Battle Garegga-Deltarune, Dark Souls, Cuphead>>724925517+Max Payne, KCD, Hotline Miami 2, Bully, Metro Exodus, World of Assassination, Dishonored, Max Payne 3, MGSV~TWD-Sekiro, Rage 2
>>724924164Nice 1ccBattle Garegga looks fun.I keep finding new games to play but I have this feeling in the back of my mind that if I ever get tired of trying random stuff that catches my eye, I could devote myself to getting good at shmups
Behold.
>>724928564what is middle pic? VS, PE and FFVIII make my list too. I really wanted to love bofIV but the story just went nowhere after 20 hours and I got tired of it and the combat was boring and way too easy as well.
>>724928490Sin & Punishment and other rail shooters are already very very adjacent to shmups so I definitely think you'd like them.BTW, the 1cc in the OP is a Chinese bootleg that's easier in multiple ways. I'm still working on 1ccing the actual game, but I'm still gonna consider it one of my favorites unless I get tired of it. It's really fucking fun.
>>724924164I should give Alien Soldier another try at some point. It looks like something I would enjoy, but I had a hard time getting a handle on how it's supposed to be played when I tried it briefly.>>724928490I've been meaning to get around to trying Ace Combat 7. I enjoyed 5 and Zero, but I haven't kept up with the series since then.
>>724928675>what is middle pic?Wild Arms.
>>724929162I might play 4 before 7 if I were you. If you're familiar with the series it's something you could beat quickly, and 7 has some nice callbacks to it. Actually it calls back to 5 as well. >>724929014Any recommendations for like a beginner shmup? I've played Ikaruga and I like the classic Mega Man games which feel in the ballpark tooWhere should I start for a true shmup
>>724929402Ikaruga's actually a pretty hard 1cc on Normal so if you did that you don't have to keep yourself to the beginner stuff. But otherwise:>Batsugun Special Version>Deathsmiles>Mushihimesama>Parodius series on SNES (The arcade Parodius series is not easy but the SNES versions have some things like more extra lives and extra characters that make them easier)>1945 Part-2 (The chinese bootleg in the OP) is pretty easy and also fairly useful for starting to learn Garegga since it has the same dynamic difficulty systems that you have to learn how to manage but also is much more forgiving due to how certain mechanics are changed. You could also play the Premium mode on the PS4 port if you have a PS4.All these games are good too so you're not getting a worse experience for playing the easier stuffYou should also check this out: https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?p=1157621
>>724929402>>724929751Oh yeah also DoDonPachi, it's hard but you get a ton of bombs so you can bomb spam through the last couple stages if you saved themAnd Touhou 7Btw all of these games will still take some hours to practice and clear on one credit, it will just be closer to like 5-15 hours as opposed to 50-80 for some of the harder games
I don't play a lot of games. It was hard to choose some of the ones on here.If I had to remove a game, TF2 would be it
>>724929853One more final rec, DoDonPachi Resurrection 1.5It has an autobomb so you can do a scrubby clear of it in not too long if you can learn how to dodge the laser wheels in stage 5 at least
>>724929876you would love ghost trick.
bump. i have even more new games now that im excited to play and hopefully expand my grid.
>>724929162>but I had a hard time getting a handle on how it's supposed to be played when I tried it briefly. The controls are a bit hard to get used to. Great when you do though. There's actually a 6-button hack for it now if you'd prefer that.
>>724929402Final advice for real, if you don't like any of these beginner shmups then don't feel like you have to complete them before moving onto something that may be harder that you do really connect with. I suck ass at shmups but I'm still playing Battle Garegga. The only difference really is the time it'll take.
>>724924164>>724928490Based Treasure enjoyers.>>724929162Good stuff. Also Alien Soldier is pretty unconventional but once you get the hang of it you can shred bosses in seconds.
hmm
BOMBA
i thinkin i might need to add digimon time stranger to this but I dunno yet
I really need to properly get into Castlevania.
anyone played any of the sotn hard mode hacks here? wondering if they're any good or if they rely too much on gimping the player (part of the appeal of sotn is how overpowered alucard is imo so if they achieve the difficulty by fucking that up then it sucks but if they just buff enemies it might be cool)
>>724934592Castlevania is one of the most consistetly good vidya franchises ever. I always say you should start with Cv1 and Cv3 (JP version), even if you're more interested in the later entries. Those two represent the core DNA of the franchise and they get the most callbacks. SotN is one big callback to Castlevania 1 and 3.
grids
>>724939945yeah
>>724934543I really loved Fire Emblem engage. It was very pure in adventure that I would usually get in Dragon Quest games.>>724944264Xenosaga 1 has peak 2000s aesthetic. But its a huge slog to play
>>724944785>its a huge slog to playnah
really makes you wonder.
BIG

>>724952891GRIDS
>>724952891CLAWS!
>>724952891BALLS
>>724924164>still hasn't been able to 1cc garegga>spends more time making bad threads than playing garegga>garegga is not even a hard game, it's easier to play for survival than batrider, and doesn't even take that much time to 1ccYikes!
