How's the performance these days?
It was literally unplayable on launch. 2080S
>>

It was fine on console

last time I listen to you niggers. never played a game in the series and the pre release threads described it as unforgiving and "the dark souls" of post apocalyptic survival or whatever. it was piss easy, not once did I suffer and was actually carrying extras of everything to the point I had to throw shit all the time
>>
>>724928737
another great pc exclusive completely castrated for console babies. modern gaming is so fucking dire. I want to go back.
>>
>>724929202
everyone mods the game to make it better, no one rlly plays vanilla. this comes at the cost of the engine having a 0.02% chance of crashing at any moment.
>>
>>724928737
is a life finally in the game?
>>
>>724929115
It's consolized and everything that was good about it was ruined. They got the look right but the AI is shit. Instead of a patrol being stationed the just spawn in a 50 foot radius sometimes behind you or constantly.
In one one the older stalkers for example there'd be like 5 guys under a bridge that you could see from a distance. You could avoid them, detour, or snipe. In stalker 2 yout walk through that natural choke point see nobody loot the area then get shot in that back when you leave.cause they just spawned in. So much of it is empty unless it's a mission to go to that area. If you explore that area ahead of time it's empty untill you touch a trigger and stuff spawns onto you. Sometime your standing on the triggerpoint and 50 dudes jump you 3 guys at a time. It was very buggy but I head that aspect improved.

>>
>>724929115
>whats bad about it?
Unreal Engine 5. Unironically.
X-Ray Engine was responsible for at least half the soul og stalkers had.
>>
I will never not be amused by how a full set of fully paid game devs with a modern publisher failed to make a better game than a bunch of slavs drinking vodka and smoking crack in a shed while making their dream roadside picnic fanfic game on a computer cobbled together from scrap
They had their own engine too while this turd runs on unreal slop
It was kinda disgusting how all the shills were dismissing the game's embarassing technical state with "OH IT'S EUROJANK DON'T YOU KNOW?" and "it's stalker its supposed to be buggy not bugs but anomalies xDD"
>>
>>724932893
>X-Ray Eng
yup
fuck ue5.
>>
>>724932893
Do you mean in lighting? or running it poorly? state your case for what X-Ray engine does and what can't be achieved on UE5. I understand the complaints of games running terribly.
>>
>>724928737
I liked the game I don’t know what you virgins are talking bout, my main issue is its performance / polish which is much better now, I stopped playing because I got busy but I won’t go back until few more patches
>>
>>724928834
Its disqualified by the fact that its a furry game. I dont care how godly the game may be, im not playing this disgusting filth

Nigger the game completely flopped, you can stop shilling it by now and admit it was a piece of shit.
>>
>>724928945
Still terrible.

>>724933658
You liking the game doesn't mean it's not a flop. But anyway, I did complete it and it was alright apart from the terrible performance and lack of A-Life. The NPC render distance is terrible too. Not sure if this was changed but the render distance was only 70m, so you could literally see enemies spawn in and out while scoped in on their position as you cross that threshold. Snipers are made useless because of this.

I also didn't like the weapon progression. There are rifles that use the same caliber and have the same barrel length but one is 3-4x as effective as the other because it's a "late game" weapon, even though their effectiveness against enemies should be largely the same.
>>
>>724933474
I mean they still haven't managed to add pack migration and AI that will actually properly travel between levels, which they had in all 3 trilogy xray games
>>
>>724934440
it seems to be doing exceptionally well for such a niche series though?
>>
>>724934373
The game is shockingly soulless and sterile, as soon as you start a woman talking in the typical American slurred speech instructs you to some basic shit, and then to create an avatar, the default one is a woman….

Who is this made for and who’s this woman did no one find this annoying and completely unfit for a racing game that will be played by car enthusiasts? Not to mention the stupid affinity RPG leveling they added, near non existent soundtrack and bad performance

>>724934440
I liked it, it was a kino exploration and survival game, reminded me of Metro
>>
>>724935631
The Path into the Abyss is currently in development on Unreal Engine 5 and it's doing what A-Life was doing. So it's not the engine which is the issue here. It's what people were capable of developing.
>>
>>724936089
right but GSC still hasn't done it even though they successfully did it on xray, therefor that is what xray has achieved that they have not on ue5
hypotheticals and potential don't matter, I'm talking about what currently exists

Pieces of shit subhumans at GSC utterly massacred and raped the SOVLful garbage level. It was perfect. It had character, gameplay flow and was ironic and pleasant to look like.
It looked like a hastily deposited nuclear waste site with pockets of life stalkers try to carve out for themselves.

NU-gsc made it an assortment of cinder-blocks and just senselessly strewn around trash, looking ugly as fuck and running like dog with atrocious FPS dips. It makes absolutely no sense even from a lore perspective. What is this? ,just looks like UE assets slammed together.
Uninstalled then and there.
I hope it 10 russian Kaliber missiles hit Nu-GSC HQ
>>
>>724936025
If you think that's bad, don't play forza horizon. I'm just gonna keep playing older gran turismo games.
>>
>>724936369
It's an incompetence thing and an engine being shit thing. When you mix an unoptimized engine with mediocre devs you end up with his dumpster fire performance. This leaves little headroom so they cut corners everywhere to get the game running anywhere near reasonably. They could easily just bump up the spawn distance numbers but the game barely runs even with all of these compromises so that would make it unplayable. The codebase is likely so fucked that getting reasonable performance would be an entire rewrite which is unlikely to happen.

lot of vatniks seething in this thread
>>
>>724936159
It's not hypothetical because that system can exist on UE5. That game actually will release one day and you will see how an equivalent system functions on it. You can get world persistence and every single position of an NPC in the game's memory in an open map or open world. That is literally up to someone to figure all of that out. It's not easy to figure out at all and requires some level of knowledge of coding tricks. But the real issue is that it's likely not optimisation friendly.

The red flags were immediate with almost every new announcement but I held on hope that at least SOME semblance of sovl would remain.

Oh boy...

I never understood how English with an Eastern Euro accent is better than English with any other accent when the game is set in a non-English speaking location. They're just different flavors of English and are equally immersion-breaking. The only way to play is with Ukrainian audio anyway

>>724936369
It's an engine constraing/performance that could be fixed but they'd have to retcon it back to non-open world. The original was instanced so a-life had an online and offline mode. In the zone (hue) you were in, they would be online to some distance and visible even far away to some distance. Offline it would just be tracking position and simulating gun fights without proper AI. Because performance is already so bad, unless you revert to instanced zones you can't have true a-life without running like a slideshow.

I'm sensing a bunch of arm chair experts in this thread. Is your claims that UE5 is incapable of handling a system which contains online and offline modes? it may be premature to talk about a game that hasn't even released but to claim that it's impossible to do this method just reeks of a bunch of idiots that think they understand game development.

No, that is not my claim. Read the post again and you will see my claim clearly.

>>
>>724943160

Ok, enlighten us. Why isn't it included in-game? Can't be for performance reasons. Not like the originals nearly halve FPS when a-life starts processing after a level is loaded.
>>
>>724936993
>The only way to play is with Ukrainian audio anyway
I do. Learned some Ukrainian that way.
Also, the radios are funky as hell. All those songs, apparently a mix of old and traditional and new ukrainian, add so much soul to the game.
My only issue is that they still cannot fix properly the stash loot. Is it THAT hard to add some random loot to them like attachements, artefacts, maybe helmets and night-vision devices. Personal peeve is that helmets like Sphere-20M and Mask-1 has psy-protection, while integrated suits with those helmets do not. Like, why?

Pretty much everything. It kind of looks like Stalker, and the artifact hunting is generally improved with some of the new anomalies, but everything is worse. It's cinematic in the worst way possible, the map is big for the sake of it without any real thought put into the area placed in between existing places except how to gate the player, you spend a huge chunk of game time just hauling broken weapons back to sell which is really boring. They sidelined factions people cared about for new gay factions. Even after a million updates, there's still no real A-life so the world feels boring. They overtuned the shit out of bloodsuckers so getting surprised by 3 of them at a fixed "random" spawn is basically quickload city. It's just bad. When I played the original SoC I was instantly hooked with the atmosphere and looks of the game, and the tense feeling firefight at the abandoned garage where enemies would actually need line of sight on me and try to flush me out then search for me when I ran. Then I watched the military guys at the checkpoint fight a group of bandits and I snuck over and tried to keep the fight even by helping the losing side so I could finish off the last guy and take everyone's gear. In Stalker 2 the enemies only care about you even if they're fighting each other, and they also laser in on your location basically just from you being near them.
>>

TL;DR 2 hour refund denial game disguised as a full price 16 hour game. Most other criticisms are just nitpicking. Its front loaded as fuck.

Everyone plays with mods and forgets how rough OG SoC is. But it isn't unplayable and you can get used to it to the point it becomes fun quite quickly. The original trilogy is one of those stepping stones everyone claims you need to enjoy OGSE and GAMMA etc. Honestly I just think you need to play SoC vanilla once and play CoP with gunslinger and you're good. Maybe even radiophobia could be a subsitute for SoC

If the game engine let's you write custom code and spawn entities and set the state of them 100% you can spawn a thread that can manage actual a-life 2.0 and spawn entities that migrate into you map at the borders and set their current state.
