Do I HAVE to do all the quests before the final boss or is there an actual post game that lets me continue playing after the final boss?
Digimon thread, I guess.
>>
>>724950809
The post game after the final boss is the sidequests. The only sidequests you need to do beforehand is the royal knights one, because it changes the cutscenes of the final boss.

My question is if I could do those after the final boss.
Some games just roll credits and end, and you have to load a save game before the final boss to go back and do the stuff that you didn't.

Playing Re Digitize Decode in 2025? Better to import or emulate? How does emulating work, do you play mouse and keyboard for touch screen? What about controller and 3d?
>>
>>724956553
There is severe lag input on Def Punching training, so emulator+controller might be the best way to play it.

That's probably not true. The WS games were completely separate from either Toei or any other team in Bandai. They just did their own thing and there was almost no communication between the parties. Even within the video game divisions, there was the Wonderswan team and everyone else. This is why there's so little documentation for the WS games. The WS team did whatever the fuck they wanted, while the rest of Bandai didn't pay attention, hence Millenniummon's general lack of presence in literally anything prior to the Xros Wars manga.

This is also why Millenniummon doesn't get the "respect" that a lot of WS fans think it "deserves". To the WS team, Millenniummon was the ultimate evil god Digimon. To literally everyone else at Toei and Bandai, it was like "What the fuck's a Millenniummon?"

>>724967346
Better than whatever dogwater you enjoy. It's a classic style JRPG in every sense of the word.

>Zero moveset variety
Skill issue on your part.
>No movement or range mechanics
So something that isn't important in JRPGs, got it
>Get way more free actions than your enemy
Plenty of bossfights on hard say "no" to that concept.
>all your party members are completely interchangeable outside of their signature moves
Then customize them into something different, you fucking idiot.

Meanwhile, you're probably an ARPG fag or even worse - a Pokenigger
>>
>>724976432

>>
>>724976762
I like the game but he's not really wrong. Every digimon feels the same except for whatever unique move they have access to, which you typically just spam unless you have a weakness equipped to spam instead. It is quite dull and rigid as far as JRPG battle systems go.
>>
>>724976762
Bro, Time Stranger has the mechanical complexity of the original Dragon Quest game, it is so utterly barebones that I don't understand why think you haven't played this exact game 5 million times before. It has nothing whatsoever that makes it stand out

>So something that isn't important in JRPGs, got it
Ah, so you've never played an actual good JRPG, I see what's going on here
>>
>>724967346
So why are your blanket criticisms so focused at Time Stranger (Cyber Sleuth by extension) when games like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Persona, Chrono Trigger, and Pokemon (and dozens of other famous JRPGs) all have variations of these exact same problems?
>>
>>724950809
The battle with Olympos XII is way too long even with 5x speed
>>
>>724977149
Sounds like you've never customized your Digimon for any role, ever. Just slapping on attacks willy nilly with no thinking. Great job.

I have in fact, and plenty of those other JRPGs
>>724977249 (listed here) have variations of those exact same issues.
>>
>>724977249
Because this thread is focused on that specific game. Those other ones could also have issues, but they don't have Skullmamothmon either, so that's not important right now.
>>
I liked Digimon Stories Cyber Sleuth and Hackers because the gameplay was like SMT. How do the other Digimon games play?
>>
>>724977249
Dragon quest characters(in the games that don't have job systems, in those you choose how to build them) have very defined and unique roles in battle, unlike in this game. Same for most FF games, persona, CT, and absolfuckinglutely for Pokemon. If you're acting like CS and TS has any comparable depth in its battle system to those games, you're pretty new to JRPGs.

Because for the most part, you're wrong and those criticisms don't apply. There's a handful of specific games where they do (FFVI would be an example, and I don't like that game, but even as far as that goes, it at least has something as basic as row system), but I would say for the most part those criticisms do not apply to most other JRPGs

>>724977369

It's true that there was very little communication between the teams, otherwise mamuro hosoda wouldn't have baited taichi and sora in our war game. Yet there was enough communication to show ryo in our war game, and the changes between adventure and 02 don't make sense unless you consider the events in the ryo games to be cannon, from ken getting the dark spore (with an actual flashback) to suddenly the whole digital world having teleporting tvs everywhere, or the digimentals being available, etc.

Rock paper scissors where the paper can be immune to scissors and somehow make the dynamite explode preentively if it attacks it and it can make so that the slow rock goes first, the rock also holds an item that absorbs the attack of the lamp while raising its stats, while creating a field that powers up moves of another type. None of that stuff really required explanation. The Wonderswan team were more or less given a ton of freedom. Whenever the executives ordered the WS games to be referenced, the WS team just gave them some details but otherwise there wasn't a whole lot of care put into it. Making it so that Piemon survived getting tossed into HolyAngemon's Angel Hole, or making Millenniummon a Jogress of Mugendramon and Chimairamon were wholly the WS team's decision. Likewise, they turned Millenniummon into this supreme unholy dark god entirely on their own, hence why it's never as impressive in later appearances. A lot of the decisions made for the DS games were pretty unilateral.
>>
>>724977987
It matters a lot more in Pokemon because the game's battle structure is completely different and actually rather unique among JRPGs, very few have turn based 1v1s. Even in single player you need to have defensive pivots that can switch in and absorb the hits that would knock out your current mon
You don't have to think about this at all in TS, not only because every fight is 4v3, but also because switching mons doesn't use an action

Yeah, you also couldn't do it in cyber sleuth. Time stranger decided to sacrifice competitive balance and pvp to allow the player to use whatever digimon he wanted to complete the story, it's a design choice.
>>
>>724978670
I wish more game used turn based 1v1 for the simple fact that when the player has more than 1 party member, the enemy AI is ALWAYS too retarded to focus fire on just one party member, and you absolutely see that in TS

>Strategy is just that one guy is red, so I need to use blue.

I mean, if you are one of those people that is just okay with whatever happens on screen and doesn't care about continuity, i can see why it wouldn't require explanation. But when the setting changes substantially between a series and it's direct sequel, I do require an explanation, especially when the whole plot of the sequel originates from events that happened in the games rather than the original series. And wordless, freeze frame screenshots within the actual anime are not enough context to explain anything.
>>
>>724979157
People say to pick Hagurumon not because he has any real advantages over Terriermon, but because you can evolve directly into a mon that gives you a 50% boost to exp gain when you use him in battle

Anyway, yeah, hard can be a bit rough at the very beginning, but after you get a full team you shouldn't be having too much trouble until like the Demon Lord superboss quests

>shit like the Battle Frontier where you actually do have to try, bullshit as the BF can be
I say the issue with this is that it only comes relevant after the story/main game is finished, instead of it being a part of the story to teach people to git gud. It being optional instead of a requirement will always hinder it.
>>
>>724978992
Have you never played a game where it did? It's annoying as fuck when you revive a guy, and then he gets slapped to death again. Unless you have a good tank drawing all the agro, you don't actually want that. It also makes team building feel fake since there's no team on the field. You are just changing forms at that point; you aren't trying to cover weaknesses and find synergy.
>>724979157
CS is just kinda shit.
>>
>>724979157
Hard mod is not for a first playthrough because of how they balanced it.
>>
>>724979157
CS Hard is an actual meme untested difficulty where all the enemies have +50% stats.
Once you get the busted mons it turns easy again.
>>
>>724979157
Just keep normal mode until you have a team of 3 rookie digimon, after that you can switch to hard mode just fine.

Pierce was retarded in CS which is why it's mostly removed from TS since every damage dealer without it was pointless on Hard.

Welcome to CS
>>
>>724979240
You brought Pokemon up in the first place
It's a good point of comparison because it does have its own identity as a series when it comes to gameplay. Digimon doesn't. Time Stranger should have been getting more complex and elaborate in order to develop an identity, not less complex and less elaborate. I think Cyber Sleuth was definitely better and more interesting, but even it was ultimately lacking because of its shallow movepool and failure to really do anything with the 3v3 format, They shouldn't have removed the lane system of the DS games

Maybe for you
I use Shine Greymon Burst mode every time I play Digimon because I'm that much of a Saversfag, and uh, yeah, the lack pierce literally doesn't matter. I've had teams where I used Dorugoramon and got through without issue. Even Hard mode CS isn't as hard as people make it out to be, there's just a few very specific spots where it's obnoxious
>>
>>724977802
I like how this system is apparently as straightforwards as you can make it, yet the vast majority of pokemon youtubers trying out time stranger can't figure out how it works even when the game is telling them the exact damage modifiers beforehand.

use faster digimon and don't let him buff himself up so much (or buff yourself to compensate)
IIRC they don't have too much health either so all you need is two or three solid accel boosted hits to win
>>
>>724979997
I've been watching a lot of people try out time stranger, and the amount of times I can count people picking up on the vaccine/virus/data relationship has been roughly 4 out of 72 videos I've seen. A lot don't seem to realize that the relationship affects all moves by the holder. I know Agumon is like the earliest digivolution, but I wonder if balancing the early game around him was a good move. Maybe if more enemies use character reverse?
>>
>>724980271
>...So you can't decide between ken getting the dark seed before his brother's funeral or later when he was older
Not me to decide, that's how it is presented in the show. Ken got Millenniumon's Dark Seed before and after his brother died at the same time.
>>
>>724980193
>I realized how weak i am when a fucking clown in a power loader scrubbed the floor with my mega digimon
that happened to me too, and the reason is that in the damage calculation level is more important than stats, that guy is like level 50 and my recently evolved mons are level 15-19 so i do almost no damage and he two shots my mons
>>
>>724980193
I actually liked that fight on my end. Since I play with debuffs in mind and charge skills, it took quite a bit of effort to really take him down properly, even when my team was close to being his level. I haven't unlocked megas by then, but I was like 100 points away from it. Having no weakness sucked though, especially when he started spamming accuracy down.
>>
>>724950970
Wait, it does? I did all the sidequests first and assumed they were all intended to be done in the post-game because the shambala group references not being at the final fight when you talk to them, even before the fight takes place.
>>
>>724980659
No? The show shows he got the dark seed before his brother died, and over time it grew with the expectations his parents placed on him until it consumed him and he became the digimon emperor. The show did make a continuity error in how he was dressed, but not the timing
>>
It's weird seeing people all had trouble with the power loader guy, I beat him first try with no issue
Only boss I couldn't beat first try was Junomon since she disabled items leaving me without any healing
>>
>>724981204
Where you level 19 like >>724980671?
>>
>>724981204
I beat Junomon first try but only because of what I assume to be a strange bug where she kept wasting turns as my last two surviving mons slowly chunked her down from 15% HP
>>
>>724981249
I had heard about level mattering more than stats or something, so I was generally trying to keep my levels high, but did have one or two fresh evolves that I loaded some mons to get up to like lv 36 or so. I forget what exactly I used
I wish the game had some sort of record screen for which mons you like using most outside of the end credits reel
>>
>>724981101
>The show did make a continuity error in how he was dressed
Not just clothes, age, but you're right, I misspoke. I meant the animation staff and director should have tried harder. Still a minor fault when compared to Ken's crest.

That move suck (for a player's mon) because it paralyzes you, right?
There are accessories that give you immunities to status effects and such, does the move become worth using like that?
I don't remember how powerful it actually is when you are the one using it.

Going back and forth through the wiki is triggering my autism. I never grew up with digimon, so how are you guys planning your endgame digimon and stat growth requirements? There's just so much you can do at once and it's daunting. Is there a good visual requirement guide for TS or do I just need to grab a notebook? I just want to endgame Armageddemon, Belphemon, and Gundramon, but I also want to get as close tp 100% as possible.
