Its weird to have AI doing random shit in a country simulator like this.I know the AI didn't go out of its way to actually get missions done in 4, but they still used the benefits like CBs and claims to grow in a way that somewhat fit the nations themselves and helped shape an endgame setup that was more than just a noise map.
I'm enjoying it, but then again one of my biggest gripes in EU4 were the missions, once they became bloated and overpowered. Started as Holland with a simple goal of dominating the Spice Trade and so far I have been able to move towards that goal exactly as I wanted to and at the pace I desired. Map painters and missionfags lose, true creative GSG chads and RPers win.

>>724970715the black death is kinda crazy in how fast it happens. mine started in 1347, swept through the entirety of europe and the middle east and killed 33%-50% of every countries population and then ended in 1350. not really enough time to do stuff like build hospitals since they're both expensive and take a year to build

>>724972724>tall/wide has nothing to do with missionsim not talking about playing tall or playing wide, im talking about missions making playing smaller tags viable in the mid/late gameright now in eu5 every european nation plays exactly the same because none of them have any guidance on a worthwhile playstylekeyword GUIDANCE and not railroading or pigeonholingyou do not need to play exactly by your mission tree when playing as riga, hansa or bavaria in eu4 but if you want your campaign to last more than 150 years before youre eclipsed then you are encouraged to do soit is not mandatory, it is guidanceeu5 has no guidance meaning there is no way for smaller tags (human and ai) to try and remain playable vs bigger tags at the start dateit looks like theres already a missions framework in the game though so hopefully modders can fix what paradox has failed to do yet again

>>724974490Basically the same situation as them.
>>724970584lots of games like this, wide as an ocean with 500+ civilizations or whatever to choose from yet most play the exact same with minor tweaks. crippled by underwhelming AI that cannot strategize.lots of these long-campaign games (total war, rimworld) suffer the exact same thing: the campaigns are so long that you just get bored of nothing happening. you start to fast forward/end turn to hopefully get to the 'good part' only for it to never arrive, as the battles/events that occur are just scaled-up tedium rather than interesting strategic encounters.it's ultimately the fault of poor AI programming in all of these games. the AI fails to create interesting believable scenarios. it's either the AI is too stupid to play properly, or the AI receives cheat-codes and you receive debuffs (difficult modes) in order to cope around the lack of thinking AI. and so the 'challenge' becomes cranking the difficulty mode to max, memorizing an encyclopedia's worth of exploits, and trying to execute them in order properly like a chess opening to see if you can dig yourself out of a '500x IMPOSSIBLE' scenario. poor AI is always the weak point for these 8000+ hour singleplayer games, so many games with the exact same issue.

>>724974576I remember that in ck2 the ai was very fucking aggressive, I was shitting myself to andalusia califate during my aragon playthrough and basically survive by making the byzantine fight in all my wars.
Ok I'm already stuck, how the fuck do you claim a province
WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE'S NO POTATOES???
>>724974853you don't need claims anymore

how do I turn my provinces into subjects
DLing the game and gonna play as byzantium and kill as many cath*lics as possiblethe "party trick" this game has is that it can automate everything but they made everything even more a clusterfuck under the hood? i never bothered trying to understand how trade worked in eu4 and now every mechanic is like that unless you automate it or something? and from what i recall blobbing is harder now?
>>724974581>ticks up one whole percentstill 67 on steamdb btw
The UI looks like such fucking dogshit, whenever anyone brought it up the devs just said it was WIP but looks like it that was a lie. The 3d models are fucking gross looking too.
>>724974572>expecting someone to think you're not a burgerSaar, American website.
>>72497436498% of streamers are mouth-breathers. I seen most of them play EU4, this game definitely goes over their head.

>>724975540vst survey on this gameso autists
>>724975317Any time they claim something is "WIP" or that "numbers aren't final" are literally always lying, it's purely to give themselves an excuse to handwave when people tell them their idea sucks. They're already set on it and simply know people will forget by the time whatever they're shilling is actually out.Every single game they do this, hell every expansion for every game they do this, it's why I don't even bother reading DDs anymore until a patch is live.
automation exposed the game. clicking a button to level up your lumberyard from t2 to t3 or sending a happy letter to your neighbors isn't interesting strategically, it's just tedium. so the 2 or 3 things you can do every 30 minutes are now automated, meaning the gameplay is nothing more than waiting around for things to finish

>>724975140on the diplomacy screen there is a button to create subject
>>724974857the english steal them
>>724975626If you automate anything you cannot complain the game is boring.
>>724975626I recommend ignoring that.
>>724975702If the game is so easy that it can be automated, where is the strategy?
>>724975738If it's so easy why automate?

>>724975838Irrelevant, you just lost liberal.
>>724975906concession accepted
>>724975767because it's tedium, clearly the developers recognized that majority of these systems do not require much thought but do require much input. during testing they too must've realized that there is a lot of time wasted micromanaging numbers, so they introduced the automation system. the problem is they forget to develop the interesting gameplay part that these systems were supposed to enable.
my computer can't run the game...
>some reviews hail this as the next coming of christ>some reviews say it's complete repetitave garbageSo which is it? obviously, the reviews about multiplayer and pc specs I ignored. I planned for this to be my first GSG. Obviously "trying" it out. What am I in for?

>>724976049Seems to me the people that refuse to engage the game and automate it don't have fun, people that are going through every single aspect are having fun by virtue of being overwhelmed and learning to play.

johan won bigly
Incredible how people who haven't even played a full campaign yet are here telling you how hard / easy / deep / fun the game isYes, I'm sure anon who has watched 10 minutes of a review fully understands the mechanics.
>>724976165im 100% gonna automate economy forever. in eu4 i never bothered learning it in 200hrs+
>>724976165I plan to learnt to play but I feel like these GSG will have the same fate as 4x games where after a run of two everything feels the same and your leader/nation/factions etc just end up being cosmetics. With that being said there are tons of GSG so if I do end up liking this I can try out any of the others. I've tried HoI4 but just being dropped in was daunting and i ended up uninstalling but I'll give this a proper go.>>724976272I can play it now with no stakes involved so why wouldn't I?
>>724976347There was one review with like 200+ hours roasting the game but he was getting called out in the comments on steam, not sure what to believe.
