Why is it only old west stories that have the coolest and most grounded paranormal stuff in them? Literally every other genre fails at making the paranormal/spiritual cool.

>>724982170Because the wild west *is* America's cultural touch stone for it's own era of myth. It's the setting for America's equivalent to the olympians, or the legends of asia's feudal era. Mythology is based on the folk tales and stories told by it's culture's people at the end of the day. The wild west is cool because it's still close enough in relative history that it's mythology feels more grounded. But I'm sure the legends of greek gods felt grounded and cool within the same context of just roughly 150-200 years apart from it's cultural origin too. It's less relatable now because we're just so much further away as a society from it's point of origin.
