I don't think I ever sat down to actually study them but Yoichi Nishikawa, who has done a lot of marvelous work for Ghibli and other anime and Mateusz Urbanowicz, who is a Polish artist living in Japan are two of my biggest inspirations for background work. Nishikawa put a book out recently that is really nice and Mateusz has a few on Japanese architecture that are very good too. Range Murata also does a whole lot of really good work and Alke is also one of my favorites when it comes to rendering.

Need help with drawing the body. I seem to struggle with drawing female and males body and feeling that its wrong even though its up to interpretation.
