Skyrim.14 years ago. What were (You) doing on 11/11/11? I stayed up all night to play the game on Low Settings 800x600 resolution.
So many hours bro maybe it's time to install again. Also, I think I've bought it three times since 360
>>725522871I saw all teh memes and knew I had to play. This was before I was regularly browsing the 'chon and back then I only came to /b/, so I was shielded from /v/ propaganda.a few days after it released I was a junior in high school playing it in my room.I remember just messing around jumping from iceberg to iceberg when my girlfriend came into my room (My mom knew i didnt like visitors to my inner sanctum so i dont know why she let her in) gf says "lets drive around and hang out"~. I was kinda annoyed because i didnt know what she wanted to do and i was busy testing my skills. I went anyway and turns out she wanted to get down but i couldnt get hard so we drove back home and i went back to laughing at the cinematic greatsword kills.
I was playing New Super Mario Bros Wii instead like a frickin boss
>>725522871>I stayed up all night to play the game on Low Settings 800x600 resolution.good morning sir
I was 15 at the time, came home to find my pre-ordered copy that my older sibling picked up for me while I was at school. Spent the entire weekend holed up in my room as I played the game on the 360.
>>725522871I was watching somebody else play it on twitch, thought it looked like shit and lost my interest until I bought it in 2014 to try it out and somewhat enjoyed it
I was rocking a Phenom II X4 and a Radeon HD 6850 so I ran it ok
Arguing on the adventure quest worlds forums on which game would be better, Skyrim or skyward sword
I rarely use my long-term memory recall so it's atrophied. I don't remember 2011.
>>725522871probably playing Dragon's Dogmai think i tried skyrim in 2012 and got really boredhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZNbabKjKpA
>>725524189fucking thisi can't play skyrim without 100+ mods
>>725524121Oh shit I was probably using backlogged back then so I can check
>>725522871>What were (You) doing on 11/11/11?Playing Skyrim on xbox 360Next day I party chatted with a friend with us both playing Skyrim. Later we played Battlefield 3 too. Great times.
>>725524363Here this is what I was doing instead of playing Skyrim. I was playing DMC3 and Skyward Sword
>>725522871>What were (You) doing on 11/11/11?Getting an epic gamer sleep for school the next morning like a boss before cancer tore the family I grew up with to shreds
>>725524591
>>725522871I was going to play it on my first break home from college, but I wound up playing the sims 4 instead.I played it for the first time ever last month.
>>725523997I was so hyped about Skyrim that I built a poorfag rig for it>one of those Sempron processors that you could change in the bios to unlock a second core>Radeon 5570>500gb HDD>4GM RAM (??)
Im so old... jaded and bitter
>>725522871I was playing modded Oblivion at the time on a shitty laptop
>>725525078Have you tried drinking a lot?
>>725525694I always over do it and end up poisoning myself
>>725525773Same. Hasn't stopped me yet though. Cheers mate
>>725522871sounds about right. played that game like crazy
Idk if I was finished with it by then, iirc it leaked a week before release. I played a ton but got burned out quick
>>725524302It's even boring as hell with mods. I can't play it for more than 2-3 hours in one session. I now understand why it's nothing but porn mods.
>>725522871Playing Pokemon White, getting ready to play Mario Kart 7 and Mario 3D Land, I didn't get Skyrim until May 2012, I got a new laptop a few months before was my first steam game
>>725525846Haha i have to stay awayThe few hours of fun isnt worth the awful hangovers that last a full day
I played it for a few hours and got bored. If it goes on a really huge sale I'll give it another shot.I like immersive open world RPGS on paper, but in practice there's usually something I dont like about it.Skyrim has bad combat and requires too many mods, KCD2 crosses the line from immersive to cumbersome and has a really bad UI, Fallouts dreary wastelands bore me, Minecraft lacks too much of goal besides build for nobody, Necesse still feels unfinished, Dragons Dogma 2 is too much of a downgrade over 1, etc. etc.Enshrouded is the only one I've played that captured me after a bit of controller reconfiguring. I put it down since EA but I've still got my eye on it and am looking forward to the full release.
>>725522871I was in my sophomore year of HS and I was lying on the living room couch sick with pneumonia, my cousins had the game for the 360 and I got to play it a bit on thanksgiving. Wouldn't actually get Skyrim until xmas and after I had upgraded my PC.
I was about to graduate high school and wasnt even aware 4chan existed yet. I was new to PC gaming in general and all my gaming "news" came from a torrent site and when i saw a medieval fantasy open world RPG i was imediately interested.I remember playing it on low and 800x600 because it ran like shit on my pc, but still, exploring Skyrim for the first time with no spoilers or guides or anything like that was an amazing experience. Its why i always say Bethesda games are 9/10 on your first playthrough but eventually fall back into a 6/10 once you really how sallow everything really is.
>>725526812>wasnt even aware 4chan existed yet.lucky. you didn't get to see gore spam during your formative years.
>>725522871I pre-ordered it just because the trailer and played it to death on my 360 until it RROD'd. Great times. A few years ago I bought it on PC and spent a month configuring my modpack until I got everything right, basically vanilla but with survival and difficulty mods. And coomer mods of course like a true gentleman.
>>725526506>Minecraft lacks too much of goal besides build for nobodyI think I probably spent most of my time playing minecraft with my friends on a server we ran, building with other people is what made it truly fun.
>>725522871Pirated it.Was under wrong impression it's proper game and not walking sim theme park with half baked combat system. After patching it myself finally finished main quest, then got filtered by more bugs. Then waited for legendary edition with patches and dlc, downloaded it, finished and noticed how boring and hollow this game is.Only thing skyrim is good for is modding because it's bad game in every aspect exept atmosphere.
>>725525009I remember playing skyrim for the first time on my radeon 3230 laptop + 2gb of ram and having fun with it. If i remember correctly I run skyrim in 1366x768 res with medium setting because the only vidyaport that i have back then was ps3
>>725522871I didn't play it back then because I didn't have a computer and didn't want to put up with the console version. I'm actually on my first playthrough right now though
>>725522871I was shitposting here on /v/. Board was still pretty good in 2011.
>>725522871I still have the box standing nead my pc. The map was so good man.
>>725528362>was still pretty good in 2011Maybe I'm just nostalgic for my teenage years at this point, but I really do want to go back to the early 2010s board culture.
>>725522871I was in my senior year of college. I didn't play it until winter break. Then I played it nonstop until the spring semester started.
>>725528438It's not you, things have gotten worse year after year.
>>725528362>>725528438Gamergate and later the 2016 election did irreparable damage to /v/s board culture. This was a completely different board back then before everything became about culture war and politics
>>725522871>What were (You) doing on 11/11/11?Probably playing skyrim, but it might have been a few days later when I got the game. Played it on the 360, certainly sunk a shitload of time into it. Played a restoration/one-handed build, which was unfortunate in hindsight given how mechanically bland a way to play that is without even the engagement of timing blocking and shield bashing, rather just spamming healing spells and basic attacks. But I was an idiot kid back then, so I had a fun time of it anyway.>>725524591Cancer had already gotten my mother around the start of 2011, so Skyrim made a pretty great game for 12 year old me to get my mind off the real world.
>>725522871I got it from a game store in the city I was working in at the time, fucking everyone in there was lined up at the till with a copy of Skyrim, and even the guy at the counter was super excited to get home and play itI remember being very disappointed that classes and such were gone and thought the tutorial bit was shit, but stopped caring the moment you finally were given freedom to do whatever.I really loved that first playthrough until the half way point, where I noticed how everything was shallow and gutted, barely being an RPG.Fucking amazing atmosphere and music though.
>>725528660>>725528723I remember 2011 being rather rough at points on /v/, but I can also remember that the internet hadn't been fully homogenized yet.>culture war and politicsThe weird thing is that it feels like the political and culture war angle hasn't even moved in a decade. It's still all the same arguments and bickering with no actual resolution or evolution.>>725528831I'm sorry Anon. My grandmother had gotten cancer in early 2011 too and died the following year.
>>725528926>The weird thing is that it feels like the political and culture war angle hasn't even moved in a decade. It hasn't. We've been in the same establishment vs MAGA bullshit since Trump first got on the campaign trail in 2015, an entire decade ago.
>>725522871skyrim release was the last midnight release i ever attended, I went to EBGAMES with my friend a couple hours early and we slammed beers in his car. I had the next day off and played until like 6am. It's one of my fondest memorys of my youth
>>725529094>midnight releaseI tend to think that I'm bit too young to have ever done one, what were they even like?
Not even mods save this garbage
>>725522871All my normie peers were playing it but I didn't until around 2016. I think I was playing Valkyrie Profile around that time.
>>725529094Neko in space
>>725529180It was just a big line of nerds hanging out, employee's would come out every now and then and hand out merch. It was fun
>>725522871>What were (You) doing on 11/11/11?Not playing this shitslop, that's for sure.
>>725528926Thanks anon, sorry for your loss as well. For what it's worth, I think experiencing things like that pushes you to learn a certain sobriety about the subject. Skyrim may not hold up so well as a game, but there are certainly worse distractions.
>>725529538I agree Skyrim is pretty bad, but>slopFuck off with your overused, meaningless buzzword.
>>725522871the most bland and boring game ever
>>725522871i drank 4 monsters, got heart palpitations and went to bed at 7ambought a 6990 with university bursary and academical excellence money to play at glorious 1080p 60fps ultrai blu tack'd the map to my wall
>>725529583I can't say if I learned anything or not, I was already a rather cynical and morose bastard as a teenager. Honestly I think the other games I was playing at the time; KSP, Sims 3, Minecraft did more to distract me than Skyrim did.>>725529607I wouldn't say its bad, but the occasional instances good game design feel wasted on a rather shallow and mediocre whole.>>725529723>i drank 4 monsters, got heart palpitationsI did this once but it was 800mg of caffeine pills and I was studying for my mathematical methods course
Watching youtuber play it while dreaming of getting it one day. My parents never bought me anything digital. We had a trash pc and that's itI was playing lotro those days
>>725522871>What were (You) doing on 11/11/11?Partying, drinking and fucking my girlfriend.
Are there any light helmets that would fit this?
>>725522871>What were (You) doing on 11/11/11?probably getting high
is there any good up-to-date guide to modding skyrim? I'm very familiar with the act of modding the game but it's been 10+ years since I last did that and I'm sure the landscape of mods has changed dramatically since then
>>725522871Playing Skyrim and funposting here, nothing has changed.
>>725522871I was getting disappointed, Todd lied again and I fell for it
>>725522871I played it on the PS3 and was so blown away with it I didn't notice how bad the port actually was.
>>725532437Thanks, I was looking for this image
I went right to he store after school to pick up my preorder and spent every waking moment of that weekend playing. I loved oblivion and I couldn't contain my anticipation it was all I could think about that day. I still remember that opening with hadvar and ralof, going to bleakfalls barrow, taking the 10k steps and getting stomped by that frost troll. It was a magical time.Like others in the thread I passed up on female attention for the sake of the game. Today I'm a 30yo virgin. Thank you Todd.
Playing Dead Rising: Off the Record apparantly
>>725522871I went to the release and while waiting in line made a life long friend.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpvM9uwOcUcHard to believe it's been 14years without a new entry
>>725522871>What were (You) doing on 11/11/11?i have never actually finished it, but i remember very well the night it came out>got the ps3 version. most of my mates got it apart from one who got MW3 collectors edition who we joked about making walk home out of shame. >mind the first mate that was at the front of the queue shouting back to is "it comes with a fucking map !!". and having an argument at opposite ends of the store that the map also came with oblivion but he was trying to tell us the material was different. >my local youth club got it but no one played it there because it was a single player game>one of my mates that didn't get it that night was told he could get it in the morning. when he got there it was all sold out and he had a mad argument with his folks while on skype. >blacksmithing was THE thing people were grinding purely for the good armor. remember sitting up at like 4am with a mate discussing the best way to grind it. >was the first game that made me realize i needed a HD Tv as i couldn't read quest text on my old CRT tv. it was the last time i waited outside of a store for the midnight release. nothing really since then got everyone together in the same way gaming wise. literally have not played it since that time outside of benchmarking the pc i got a year later. it was fun at the time but never had any calling to go back to it. especially compared to other bethesda games. i think i grew out of long open world games shortly after in favor of fighting games and multiplayer stuff.
>>725534004It makes sense when you realize what kind of tards Bethesda are
Playing it on my Penitum 4 630, and also shitposting on /v/.FUCK.
>>725536904Wait, sorry. I upgraded to E5700 that summer. So yeah.
