It's really going to come down to how much of the game is this bullshit. If he's JUST a tutorial NPC it's fine.But man, everyone knows the first 20mins of your game is the most important part. BG3 didn't even have a final act when it launched, because they knew all they needed to do to get 10/10's was make sure the start was as polished as possible (probably the same reason all the NPC romance values were set three times higher than they are now at release, rush through the sex and romance so all the journalists get to see it).

I think this whole thing is to setup a huge misdirect.Prior to Prime 3's release there was a lot of talk around the other hunters that work with Samus at the beginning but when the game came out you actually have to go kill all of them and discover how they went insane and got possessed. Metroid being this isolated experience is vastly overstated. If anything it's continuing the trajectory the series was on. Prime 1 was just Samus. Prime 2 was a load of dead Federation troops and one host alien. Prime 3 started with a load of Federation troops before transitioning to a more 'traditional' Prime experience after the first two hours. And beyond that, you have Samus chatting with NCPs in Fusion, Other M and Dread. Isolation has not been a staple in this series since Prime 2 reallyAll these isolation comments really comments just seem like nostalgia goggles to me
