Everyone can be great at Legendary tier and you can only have two hero tier characters on a team so there being more male options for hero tier doesn't matter. Legendary characters can be fully customized with moves and passives meanwhile hero characters can't be changed at all. As long as you understand move synergies to abuse and the type of gameplay tactic you are going for you can do It
