Dark Forces II handled the overall design of the levels the best imo tied with Academy. But DFII goes the extra mile of not making it feel "too" boring in that you wound up getting yourself lost too often. You still feel at awe with the massive scope that the levels offer. Every room and corridor just feels like it's being expanded upon to show you that there's something beyond what your mind can see.
