itt games where you have to google what to do next
>>725926836Every Myst game
>>725926836the piano in school and plates in the hospital riddles were retarded. Quite surprising, other riddles were really easy.
I had to do look up stuff for Dino Crisis 1. People say it's Resident Evil with dinosaurs, but it's more of a puzzle game than any of the RE entries, and some of it is just poorly designed bullshit.
not really
>>725926836>>725927661Why are GenZ "adults" so braindead? There was no internet, no "Google" available for us in 1999, and even as an 11yo ESL kid, I beat the game just fine on my own.Did you fags miss the reception area hints or something?>>725927942Same thing to you. And yes, DC is a fucking RE with dinos, and RE used to be a puzzle box adventure game series.
>>725928804I wonder how many people would eventually be able to solve it, but they only try for a few minutes and then look up the answer. I know people who basically play a game with a walkthrough open so that if they ever have any moment of not knowing what to do they can just look it up.
>>725930056>they only try for a few minutes and then look up the answerYeah, that's just one more modern cancer of today's gaming scene. People lack patience and both skill AND desire to SOLVE and overcome challenges. These bitches will never know real satisfaction.
>>725927661do people who struggle with the piano puzzle just have no idea how piano keys work at all?
I don't like doing this. My one justified situation for it is if I get lost in a dungeon crawler or JRPG. If I can't figure out where I'm supposed to go after an hour or so I just look it up because otherwise I'm going to overlevel by grinding random encounters and that's even more cheap than using a guide.
It has to do with the placement of the blood, right?
The only justifiable puzzle to use a guide for in SH is the Shakespear puzzle in SH3 because it relies on real world knowledge that you probably don't have. The piano and zodiac puzzle are not hard. Give yourself an hour, take a break, sleep on it, come back to it. That's what I do when I get stuck on a puzzle and I never have to use a guide unless it's a Sierra game or something.
If I can't solve a puzzle within 2 minutes or I get lost in a game I quit and never play it again. Ain't nobody got time for cryptic dev bullshit.
the attention of the zoomers is 2 sec i even admire how some are actually playing this old classics>>725931363this is some onions zoomer shit
>>725926836Which part of Silent Hill requires a guide? Some of the puzzles filtered me as a kid but it's all pretty straightforward
>>725931274I couldn't ever solve this as a kid.Game was so FUCKING scary too. To be completely honest I am still scared just thinking about this game.>music>fog>radioHoly shit man. I will replay it one of these days. How do you actually solve this puzzle? Do you get any hints?
Why did they do it bros?
>BRO JUST GO BACK TO KOKIRI FOREST, GO TO THE LOST WOODS, FIND SARIA AND LEARN HER SONG, THEN GO PLAY IT FOR THE ANGRY GORON MAN!! ITS SO OBVIOUS!
>>725930928>>725931274because of how the puzzle goes, i thought the keys that don't have a sound are the ones you weren't supposed to touchbut even then you will figure it out by just trial and error i don't think there is a single puzzle that requires you to google anythingmaybe sybil's fight, I used the red liquid by complete fucking accident
>>725932480navi literally tells you what to do throughout the whole fucking game if you get lost
>>725932571>i thought the keys that don't have a sound are the ones you weren't supposed to touchAre people seriously so low IQ nowadays that a blatant hint called "A Tale of Birds without a Voice" flies past their heads? No pun intended.>>725932758She actually does not.I don't know if it's just people born long after the 1990s memeing or 30+yo Millennials that have not played the game in nearly 30 years exaggerating their war stories, but Navi seldom goes beyond "Hey! I think we should go see what's going on in THAT place!" or "I wonder what Saria is doing...". Yeah, it's a hint hint nudge nudge to the right direction, but it does not spell out the necessary steps to solving anything, and thus it unironically is no longer enough for the GenZ to beat the game. Hence why Nintendo added those Sheika Stone video hints into the shitty 3DS de-make.
>>725932758she tells you to go see what saria is up to, thats it. now how was I supposed to know the only way to calm down the goron nigger is with a gay ocarina song?
>>725933039>>725933182>Are people seriously so low IQ nowadays that a blatant hint called "A Tale of Birds without a Voice" flies past their heads? No pun intended.i didn't read that part I guess>I don't know if it's just people born long after the 1990s memeing or 30+yo Millennials that have not played the game in nearly 30 years exaggerating their war stories, but Navi seldom goes beyond "Hey! I think we should go see what's going on in THAT place!" or "I wonder what Saria is doing...". Hence why Nintendo added those Sheika Stone video hints into the shitty 3DS de-make.somebody in the Kokiri forest tells you to go find her at the lost woodsit's been a while but you literally have no fucking excuse if children can figure it out>>725933182>she tells you to go see what saria is up to, thats it. now how was I supposed to know the only way to calm down the goron nigger is with a gay ocarina song?>can't progress because goron dude won't let me>game tells me to go find saria>get a new song from sariaHMM, I WONDER WHAT'S THE SOLUTION TO THIS BRAIN BUSTERchildren beat this fucking game, no one has any fucking excuse
>>725932480some posters later told me there's a shortcut in the goron area that you can open up by hitting the bombs with a burning deku stick. but that is never explained in-game and i think it's the only time it's used? i don't really have many issues otherwise with how ocarina of time was designed but this just ended up feeling like a timewaster and i know it was for other people too.
>>725928804I don't get it. I was told that "Average player got better after decades of exposure to video games".
>>725933471Dunno who told you that, or in what context, but from my personal observations, that hasn't been true for the past ~20 years. It does not help that the literal Casual Era started roughly back then, with devs spoonfeeding the literal non-gaming normies through every step they need to take.I've seen some zoomer streamers and content creators outright stating that they no longer cannot think for themselves in vidya; if the game doesn't tell 'em what to do, they won't do ANYTHING.
>>725932330>How do you actually solve this puzzle? Do you get any hints? The solution is right next to the piano on the whiteboard. They talk about birds and they expect you to know which birds are black/white irl so you know what keys to press on the piano.
>>725926836zelda majora's mask.I love the game to death, but i remember the first time i played it on the wii I got stuck a bunch of times and had to look up guides on what to do next. Still a good game though.
I looked this shit up and I don't give a fuck.
>>725933954>on the wiiYup, I knew it was the casual era toddlers making these threads.I was literally 12 when the N64 original dropped, and I annoyed my friend by beating the main story + handful of more obvious side stories in a SINGLE WEEKEND.Again, no "googling", no "guides". Just pure drive to explore + thousands of hours of OoT backing me up.
>>725926836imagine being retarded
>>725926836>front door is locked
>>725928804>no Internet no Google>1999way to out yourself zoomie
>>725928804>miss minuscule shiny item in a random room>forced to check every corner in the entire map for 5 hours>>heh, this is good actually, because i did it as a kid
>>725937198Ah yes because everyone had internet the second it was invented and everyone was using google the within a year of when it was founded.
>>725937621>the second it was inventedThat was like 20 years prior to the 90s. Late 90s is when cable internet became a thing and we began pirating films. And google was not the first search engine.
>>725937621the internet existed for almost 5 years in 1999 just because (you) didn't have it doesn't me no one did
>>725938083Most people didn't making "unavailable to us" a reasonable statement. Not to mention how slow and unreliable it was back then.
>>725926836Discworld. they even joked about the obscurity of its puzzles in the sequel>>725927942>be me>play ntsc DC1 with a PAL scart cable>game plays in black and white>mfw the very first puzzle is color codedstill solved it
In a PS1 game called Medievil there's a puzzle involving a bellow, you're suppose to jump on it multiple times to blow air into a furnace, as a kid I had no idea what a bellow was and what they were used for so I never beat the game.
>>725927661>the piano in school>and plates in the hospital riddlesThose puzzles are easy and I'm retarded
>>725930250This attitude literally kills the fun in any games they play, then they go to x or reddit and say shit like "game was boring and easy" of course it was fucking nigger you spent half the time reading how to beat it instead of playing it until you beat it
>>725940829I remember that puzzle. I was a teenager then so I figured it out.
>>725933748In fairness, I played the game the same way. I was 7 when it came out, but still.
I beat this game when I was 5 lmao you just suck at videogames
>>725928804Are we really going to pretend walkthroughs weren't a staple of game magazines from back in the day? People got stuck in games on regular basis.
>googling shit for a 5 hour game lol?lmao?
>>725933748>Streamer is dicking around exploring the environment and then figures out what to do next.Don't understand what this webm is showing.
>>725926836
>>725926836>game is shit on purpose
>>725926836Space Station 13 but that's it, because I grew up pre "looking things up the moment I'm stumped because all the answers are on my phone" culture. Even then it's only because I play it once in a blue moon and forget shit.
Very funny watching everyone jerk off about not looking up answers when GaneFAQs came out in 95.
>>725926836>>725927661>>725931274I can understand if you got stuck on the piano puzzle as a kid, but if you're an adult and you genuinely couldn't solve it then you're just incapable of abstract thinking. Like an actual NPC.
>>725940829Surely just looking at the thing you could intuitively guess you press down on it?
>>725945147The difference between something being available at all but not commonplace knowledge and being ubiquitous and habitual is lost on some people.
I just cheat.
the only really hard things about silent hill are the point of no return for the bad ending and the unintuitive premise of picking up spilled liquid on the floor with a plastic bottle for the good+ ending. just getting to the credits is a pretty mild endeavor. the teleporting in the last dungeon is a pain but it's something you'd eventually brute force your way through soon enoughthere were extremely opaque, player hostile games in the 90s but silent hill is not one of them outside of the ending conditions.
>>725937198I'm a 80s' kid Millennial, kiddo.Literally NO ONE had an internet access at home in the 1990s. And even fewer even knew WTF to do with one in case they had that expensive luxury connection.>>725937328More zoomer cope. >>725942280>Are we really going to pretend walkthroughs weren't a staple of game magazines from back in the day? You're assuming all countries had such gaming mags, and that you'd have easy access to one.Or that every game would've gotten a detailed walkthrough. The closest I ever got was a local Super Power mag with a bulleted list sort of spoiler-free walkthrough for the RE2, jammed into 2 pages.>>725943329>Don't understand what this webm is showing.A typical ADHD GenZ pleb, that LITERALLY requires his chat's help to find the HEV Suit, and LITERALLY says out loud that if the game does not tell him to press buttons and interact with the world, he will by default NOT DO SO.This is what 20 years of button prompts, forced tutorials and constant mission objective indicators have done to the younger generation. And yes, he skipped the HL's tutorial, because it wasn't mandatory.
>>725934085back then in the 90s there used to be a nintendo hotline you could call if you were stuck on something, I used it a bunch of timesit was pretty expensive but I was a kid so I didn't care
Playing SMT3, some areas you take the wrong path and get booted out, but you can make out on your map where. The Amala Temples are where I need a guide to see which path I need to go.
>>725926836Not remotely? Anon you might be retarded
>>725928804I have had internet in my house since 1994
>>725945898>back then in the 90s there used to be a nintendo hotline you could call if you were stuck on something...only in EOP countries.
>>725932571Yeah but you don't need to save Cybil yo beat the game and without internet, a guide, or a fried that did it you don't even know there's an ending where she lives
>>725928804>no "Google" available for us in 1999, We had Ask Jeeves you fucking larper. That's how I looked up the Missingno glitch.
>>725946758G4Y. My moderately rich grandparents got internet before my own parents, as late as 2002.56k modem connection with pay-per-minute subscription. One minute was like 10 cents in today's money.>>725947050Once again, English-only fags think that their way is the only way, or that ESL would even find such sites in the 90s.
>>725928804>1999 >no internet
>>725947206I just typed the game name into DogpileGame FAQs has been around since 1995
>>725947206>Once again, English-only fags think that their way is the only way, or that ESL would even find such sites in the 90sI'm Polish. Looking forward to your next back pedal.
>>725926836resident evil 1 2 and 3 from ps1
>>725946758wtf I hadn't even heard the word "internet" in 94
