Ignoring culture war bullshit, the truth about Arc raiders is somewhere in the middle.I've played over 100 hours already, had a good time. But the games design works against itself. The only real objective is to kill bigger and bigger arc. And equipment for arc killing is very expensive and rare. PVP equipment is not. Some guy who spawns in with the base SMG and weakest shields is only at a 10% disadvantage compared to a player with a giga shield and epic weapon.So you spawn in with your epic grenade launcher, missile grenades, super heals, utility- and then the instant you start fighting a huge robot, every dipshit with a $20 smg comes sprinting towards you at mach 5 because they have literally nothing to lose and you've broadcast to the lobby that you're a big fat pay piggy with a ton of gear.So there's really no pvp progression. You can rock the best pvp loadout within 5-10 hours of playing. Trying to complete objectives or hunt end-game arc is suicide at best, so the pve progression feels like a waste of time. The end result is that there's really nothing to do but run around pvping. Which would be fine, but the pvp isn't that good. Desync is atrocious. Hardly any of the guns are viable. Raider flares mean you will pretty much never get a 1v1 or squad v squad. Offensive options are extremely limited, the grappling hook is one of the most rare items in the game, and ziplines are restricted by crafting components that aren't renewable. Not to mention the myriad defensive options like mini guns (torrente), trip wires, mines, noise makers, door blockers, and the basic fact that third person favors the guy sitting around a corner abusing the perspective over their shoulder.The last few days have been very reminiscent of my time with Rust. The guy having the most fun is the one who grabs a sniper, a bunch of ammo, and sits on top of the largest building taking potshots at randoms. Loot? Who cares. Objectives? Bait so you always have something to kill.

The reason why people liked souls was because of the variety of behavioral patterns in a fight. Arc Raiders like any extraction shooter balances PvP but their balance with PvE is phenomenal. You are playing MGS with them just so you don't lose that edge of letting people know where you are.
Also in case you think I am glazing Arc Raiders it is one of the few games with proximity chat. They understand things can go bad but the fact is they trust players by default in a world where AAA censors this basic level of interaction.
