Why doesn't valve license out the engine like they did with source 1?
We know they've outright cancelled games using source 2 saying the engine isn't ready yet. Maybe that connects to a reluctance to license it out. Plus these days game devs looking for an engine to work with a perfectly happy with unreal or unity.
>>725947782because everybody does whatever the fuck they want at valve and nobody wants to deal with making source 2 licensing ready
>>725947782Because its not fucking done yet? The most its truly been utilized so far is Alyx and CS2 (specifically on the new train map). Dota doesn't look too different from before the source 2 patch and Deadlock is literally unfinished.
>>725947782Because they're a bunch of lazy shits now that they have steam and don't give a fuck about doing literally anything. >Oh but what about >Token attempt at X>Most of which are later abandonedFuck this company. What good is an "R&D" development studio if it STOPS DOING R AND FUCKING D once it gets money?
>>725951961Too much research. Not enough development.
>>725950796This. It really isn't too different from Source 1, apart from obvious shit like graphical upgrades and the fact that they no longer use BSP. Under the hood, I bet things like weapon and AI behavior work very similar to Half Life 2, which basically hardcoded everything with enums and switch statements. Which most modern developers using Unity and UE don't wanna do.
